So in short - I still have it partially.
The Dadbods and the Zee Brackets are still part of my quiver.
While the Dadbods are propably no the most functional wheels imo, they still are a lot of fun. I use them on my supersonic with some risers and once they get rolling i love them.
I would not however carry that board with me anywhere, since its just too heavy like that.
The Paris trucks have been used for experimentation.
On one I cut down the Hangers and inserted a spherical. That was a lot of fun and in my opinion a good result:
• This Paris Truck Mod i...
The other one was the first try. I messed that one up so bad. This was just useless after that.
• I added another Spheri...
I still don't get why paris V2s are used here but they are gonna perform just fine.
The Deck was fine and has enough clearance to actually use the dadbods without bite.
It's okay, but a little too short for my liking. Its perfect for the stock setup, but not something I prefer.
The Zee-Brackets are still great. I love those so much, that I use them every other day in some configuration.
They are nice and stiff and feel great!
I love that you can make a board really compact using those!
• Building the perfect T...
Its an enjoyable board and worth getting, if you have never ridden a bracket board this is a very good and well working entry.
If you already have some gear you might think about skipping the trucks or using another deck.
But as a complete it's very fun!

I have a Frankenboard version of the Fathom based on a G-Bomb X26 deck that I call the "F-Bomb", with Paris V3 50 at the front, Prandall 35 at the back, and Hoku wheels. The deck is roomy with that G-Bomb flex, the front is turny while the back is tamed, and the wheels are big and juicy but with less fat.

Sounds really great, fixes a lot of the fathom weak Points!

@@skate-further what is "Prandall 35"? is that a Paris hanger on a Randal 35 baseplate?... or what?

@@skate-further What size / width / core / shape have you found best, or think would be best, in the brackets?

@@insanogeddon they are very slim so everything works, smaller than 8 feels a little sketchy since they sit pretty low. I had dadbods, karmas and speedvents all worked great! Hangers like 130 can be too small tho!

I found you can top mount the Paris trucks on the Zees using the Paris 7 degree wedges with easy and very minimal modifications. Rear de-wedge just needed the corners of the thick side of the wedge trimmed. On the front the brackets just needed about 1cmx3mm of the lip that curls around the front bolts cut off. This tiny bit of plastic doesn't allow the front curved portion of the Paris truck to fit n lay flat. This improves pumpability but the higher ride is a little worse in feel esp pushing on my 90mm Karma wheels. Smaller wheels could be better with this config. I also changed the bushings to 81a barrel/barrel in the front and 95a barrel/barrel in the rear. It pumps better but still likely not the final config. FYI, the Paris can't be inverted on the Zee bracket either top or drop mounted - sometimes this is helpful for a LDP/pumping config. I wish I would have known this before I bought the V3s. IMO the Zee needs to be re-designed to allow more flexibility and experimentation in truck choices and mount positions. It's still pretty good as-is esp for the price, but it could be even better.

*Love 6 month update videos!* 🤟🏽⚡️🤙🏽⚡️🤟🏽 Boa 100s, etc defo get more recommendations than Otang OJ 105s, the blues would better for eBoarders but roll speed won't be great for longboarders. IMHO, I would agree with many longboarders and recommend people avoid Dad Bods, the blues are good for eBoarders but like you say, price to performance ratio is hard to justify for most.

From the perspective of someone who had never skated a wheel larger than 75mm before and just got my dad bods in the mail they feel absolutely magical after the first 20 minutes. I can't compare them to boas or whatever for obvious reasons but they roll forever, roll over absolutely everything and are way more comfortable than anything I've ridden before. I'm assuming it has a lot to do with the size. They are real expensive but living in Sweden right now our local currency is weaker than ever so import even from the rest of the eu is not very beneficial. The dad bods are available in Sweden and no other big wheel is basically so the difference was there but not enormous.

Oh yes they feel awesome! On a topmount with some decline its like on a flying carpet! On a dropmount you will see that other wheels are lighter and are easier to push, especially on an inclin!

If you have some spare time, since you're learning slides, can you try sliding on the topmounted Fathom (no brackets) + Pantheon Stylus trucks and some small slidey wheels like 66mm 75A Snakes. Please?
@skate-further
@skate-further Ай бұрын
Why? that sounds aweful :D Also I don't have the deck anymore!
@nickamarit
@nickamarit Ай бұрын
@@skate-further Awwww, too bad. Anyways, the reasoning is that, iirc, the Fathom deck itself is symmetrical (unlike many other LDP platform decks), and it is also stiff, so it is basically a freeride brick shape of longboard deck, which used to be popular in the years 2013-2015. This is due to the popularity of doing switch slides back in that era. Additionally, the Pantheon Stylus trucks are TKP's, which usually slide easier than RKP's. This is especially true, if you put soft fat bushings in the boardside position (Venom Eliminator or Riptide Chubby). And finally, of course, slidey wheels will make sliding more fun. But yeah, you don't have the deck anymore, so it's okay.

huh so it's not my imagination. I got some 90x60 hoping for a smoother ride but I lose speed a lot I was really looking in to buying the Loaded Fathom with the dad bods but now I'm not so sure anymore it's advertised that you can go long distance with a few pushes but isn't the drag going to be pretty bad with the BIG wheels?
@skate-further
@skate-further Ай бұрын
@@LUN5HTIME Well, they are good but a little slower. Once they get speed they just roll over everything! They are certainly not bad! Just not optimal. The Fathom is still a very fun board! Also urethane is very important, two wheels with the same specs can feel wildly different!
