Locals in Monstown, in Dublin, where Cillian Murphy calls home, have been reacting with delight to his Oscar win last night.
The Cork native became the first Irish-born film star to take home the Best Actor award.

Yeah, even if nobody knew he was Irish...he deserved it. Judging by the number of "the last scene in Oppenheimer" clips that have been taken down and reuploaded lol

I hadn't watched an Oscar show since years ago , that fateful year when no black was nominated and they turned the show into a pathetic display of self-pity. But I liked Oppenheimer so much and particularly this actor so much that I watched the entire show and was very happy when he and the movie itself won 7 Awards. I also enjoyed Ryan Gossling's performance very much, too bad the show ended with another display of self-pity, this time from Jimmy Kimmel himself when he read something about Donald Trump, pathetic. and by the way, isn't Daniel Day-Lewis Irish too? In fact I think Cillian Murphy mentioned him in his acceptance speech referring to the fact that he (Murphy) was the second Irish actor to win an Oscar.

Daniel Day Lewis has both an Irish and a British passport. It can get very hair splitting.
