Cycling from Inverness to Fort William turned into a bit of an epic, but I might have discovered the source of recent Nessie sightings.

That was certainly an epic.....especially with a problematic BB! Great video as always. Oh, and I like your back pack - same as mine! It 'pops' on the drone footage. 👍

I'm a Bristol boy living in Poland, and it's always great to see Scotland and especially Loch Ness. I was part of the Loch Ness and Morar expedition teams of the late 70s early 80s, great place and memories always from there.

Great video. I too got a Camino after your recommendation, also got it from the Alpkit in Inverness, fine guys in there. Keep up the videos. I really enjoy them.

You have my full respect. The weather in North Rhine-Westphalia is like Scotland at the moment. Gray, dark and wet and I have no motivation to go outside and ride my bike. But that could also be due to a little cold I caught a few weeks ago that won't go away. Better days will come. Keep riding and take care of yourself.

I rode that east side with the construction work on my bike packing trip the other way last summer, not very racebike friendly… after that cycled to Portree that day. The main road on Skye isn’t that nice… the day after took the ferry to Mallaig to end in Killchoan. (Ben Hiant is a nice climb) tip: Always ride past halfway before indulging in coffee stops and talks with lama’s…

The diversion near Glen Spean is for the new hydro scheme above the loch I think.

Always stop and soak in your surroundings thats half the ride! BTW- Maybe Nessie has been a Lama after all... Enjoy the ride!

Good effort Simon. Be honest, how many times did you think 'I wish I'd just put the bike on the van's bike rack?'

😂 it was all going so well until that diversion. After that, yeah I was praying I didn’t have a puncture. Those tyres are a pain to remove!

I don’t think I’ve ever done that route and there’s not been some diversion or obstacle! I’ve got chunky 47’s on my gravel bike and they are quite hard work on roads but the minute your in rough stuff they are just awesome. A less aggressive tyre but same width like a Terreo Zero and it was fine.

Nice adventure there! Always keep a sleeping bag handy. A new Camino or is that the one you have been riding for a few years?

That’s the Gen3 with much wider clearance. I sold the bits and frame of the old one. Just about all the components needed replacing.

@@alwaysanotheradventure that makes sense! I saw the old bars but never clicked. I'm saving my pennies for one as well, though the aluminium because it comes in orange.

Hey, I thought you were going to get rid of that Redshift bar with the loop to save a bit of weight? But, that looks a lot like a bar with a loop and bag it. What's the story?
@alwaysanotheradventure
@alwaysanotheradventure 8 ай бұрын
I did get rid of it - I even ran a competition and gave it away. Then when I was planning the Torino Nice Rally ride I realised how useful it could have been when paired with the wee bag that fits in the gap. Redshift kindly sent me the loop version (again!) and I used it on that ride. Top video in this playlist plus others talking through the kit tinyurl.com/AAA-TNR The custom bag makes that front loop extremely useful and - for me - worth the extra weight.

@@alwaysanotheradventure Ugh, I missed that vid. But I'd make the same decision -- sod the extra few grammes. Fortunately I didn't miss the vid on the Garmin Rally XC power meter pedals. I love Garmin gear and was quite taken with the Rally XC SPD-pedals. But power meters are too expensive to take a punt on. I'll go with a crank arm model, which should be reliable and cost half the price. Always another thing to think about! Cheers

Hi Si, thanks for the video. It got me thinking, do you have any videos on cycling computers? I have a wahoo element bolt which I have had for years I am thinking of upgrading, but unsure as to which one: Garmin 540, 840 1040, then there is Wahoo itself and now Hammerhead. Can get confusing. Any assistance or recommended articles which will help me choose will be appreciated. 8:31

I always look to DC Rainmaker for this sort of thing - he gets loads to test. I have an old Garmin 1030 and recently switched to a Karoo2 rather than update the Garmin on the grounds of cost

I love travelling around that area, i always want to see the llamas but theres no where to park up on that road. The locals drive like nutters around the east side of loch ness.
