Those who enjoy this may want to look up a Tim Pierce video called "The Best Band I Ever Joined" where he talks quite a bit about Toy Matinee. Also if you can find it, the 5.1 DVD Audio of this one of the best I have ever heard.

Guy, I’d never heard Toy Matinee before you did Last Plane Out a few weeks ago. That song blew me away and I have now listened to the whole album several times through - it’s all lovely. Thank you 😊

brilliant! hard to believe, it was 28 years ago this week we lost Kevin Gilbert.

The first few times I heard this track I had to keep replaying the intro because of how nasty your entrance into the groove is. Thanks for doing this

This is one of my favorite prog albums of all time, man. Great bass playing, Tim did a killer job, everyone involved. Anybody who hasn’t listened to Toy Matinee, I can’t recommend it highly enough...it’s a dead on perfect fusion of pop and prog rock. The Kevin Gilbert rabbit hole is a very worthwhile adventure

One of the coolest bass lines Ive heard in my 55 years of playing! Massive Kudos!!!

This has become one of my favorite records in the last 5 years (late to the game, I know), but it's made such an impact on me. Everyone was firing on all 4s - and your bass parts are just the tastiest things. This (and the whole record of tunes) is such a *smart* bass part ; you deliver the perfect balance of groove, lyricism, working in tandem with MacLeod to form an unstoppable rhythm section, and branding an indelible mark on all songs with bass lines I hum to myself as much as any riff or vocal hook. You made these songs, not just your parts, absolutely unforgettable. Thank you, Guy! 🙏

Also (just finishing the video): thank you for your stance! All I knew starting the video was that you're a musician whose musicianship I admired - it was an added bonus to know that you're sticking up for the good things, too. Hold steady, use the voice to speak in solidarity, be well in the mean time, and I thank ya, dude!

Nicely done! Your ears had to be burning. After the "Last Plane Out" vid. I was screaming for the " Queen of Misery " tutorial. Thank you. All you Steely Dan fans that have never heard of Toy Matinee go check them out. You will love them.

I’m a guitarist who doesn’t even own a bass - but I’m tuning in to these every week. So entertaining and enlightening. What comes across for me is Guy’s genuine love for making music and being a ‘part of the whole’ - which is as it should be. Please keep doing these videos; even if we reach a point where the world isn’t quite as shut down as it is right now. Truly inspirational!

My first concert was Pink Floyd in the summer of 1987 at Nassau Coliseum at the tender age of 14. I have been a life-long Floyd fan ever since and have always remembered it as a magical experience, thank you Guy!

Toy Matinee was the first album where I hear a single on the radio, bought the CD, then said “Sweet, I know that Bass player!” Thanks for this introducing TM for a lot of people who would have never known of it and Kev!
