Thanks for your comparison. I bought and use the locknlube about a year, I operate heavy equipment. I love the hold power. Will buy another if this one ever wears out..

DFF, thanks for the video. I have both grease gun couplers. The LockNLube is bulkier, however the thumb release is much easier to operate than the Unver-Co coupler. I used the Unver-Co coupler on two fittings and when detaching the coupler it pulled off a Zerk fitting. (Holy Schmokes, batman....👀 Easy fix. I cleaned the zerk hole and inserted a new zerk then tightened down. I went to the next zerk and this time tiny ball bearings came out of the Univer-Co Coupler. Never had anything like that happen before. Univer-Co gets a Thumbs-Down on quality. I did not have an issue with the LockNLube coupler at all. I purchased both grease fittings in 2017 and used for numerous lube jobs. I did the most recent tractor lube 11 Mar 2019 when the Univer-Co coupler failed. Enjoyed watching your entire video and like your Kubota skid steer. I like that you keep it inside for cleanliness and out of the elements. Thumbs up on your video 👍.

Thanks for the feedback on the Unver-Co pulling out the zerk fitting. I work on aircraft where the zerks thread into aluminum and are easily yanked out when the coupler will not release due to pressure. The repair can be costly if the threads strip out. I usually have to disassemble the coupler to get it off safely when it won't release. This is why I am considering the Lock-N-Lube and watched this video.

I hear you Gary. I can't say the Lock-n-Lube won't ever get hung on a zerk but I do know the Unver-Co Coupler did several times. If you're using these for aircraft, I'd be extra careful. Hope you have a chance to use both to determine which is better for you. Have a fine week, Gary.

I have both of them. Prefer the LockNLube over the Univer-Co. If a zerk is plugged, it is difficult to pull the collar to release it. I have had no issues with the LockNLube. I also have a Dewalt 20V Grease Gun. Love it.

You just answered my question of these two grease couplers. I have two of those Lincoln grease guns and one is like yours. The low speed doesn't work, only the high. Took it apart and found some loose screws and it worked for a little while. Back to high only.

That's exactly what happened to mine! The old Lincoln grease gun I had worked flawlessly, so when the battery died, I bought another Lincoln. It worked good for about a year and then the low setting quit working. I think I will replace it with a Milwaukee. Thanks for watching!!

Lock-N-Lube has a longer coupler now. What worries me about the Univer-co end is when its down in a tight spot and trying to get to the release collar (might have to use a 90 degree pick to grip that collar) I have the lock n lube on one grease gun and a regular old coupler on the other. I leave the old style coupler only finger tight so its easy to remove for changing to the needle tip, etc! Great video and thanks for sharing!

I did see the longer lock n lube, and would like to try it. But I am still not sure it will help. To get to some of the hidden zerks I have, you have to bend the last few inches of the grease gun hose. I am not sure there is a "perfect" coupler, but I hope this video helps people understand the differences between the two. Thanks for watching!!

The Univerco has two kits, one is just the coupler, the other is an extension with a bleed screw and a tool to reach the release.. We have Loc-n-lube and Univerco couplers, both work, the girls like Loc-n-lube better, but it doesn't fit everywhere...

I've had the issue with the Lock n Lube being too long for zerks in real tight spots, where i have to bend the hose right at the end with a standard coupler to get on it

I would recommend the Milwaukee M18 fuel grease gun it is very reliable and easy to maintain if anything happens to it and it puts out more then 10,000 psi and it has a 48 inch hose to reach anything.

I have equipment with deeply recessed zerks. I considered your solution (the U-Co.) but figured it would be stuck way down in there with no way grip it. My solution was to keep my Lock'nLube on the gun, but use the Lumax LX-1434 Silver 14" Extension Adapter to get down in there. I did swap ends of the fittings on the Lumax extender so that the business end was on the straight part. Only 20 toad skins shipped to my door.

My brother and I had a heck of a time greasing only yesterday. It's likely a cheap grease gun, so I'm buying a univer-co fitting Monday in lieu of a new, more expensive grease gun. We'll see what happens. Thanks.

My guess is that the low on the grease gun uses a resistor or some other current limiter that burned out when the pressure built up. If you can get to it replace the resistor and you should be good to go. I would replace it with the same resistance but a higher watt resistor. If it uses a little circuit board with a number of items on it it might be harder to upgrade to a higher wattage circuit unless the circuit is simple. You can probably find a direct replacement for it and replace the entire board if it is easier.

I watched the whole thing. I see others have pointed out the longer version of the Lock-n-Lube already. I'd shop amazon if I was rich. You can find everything elsewhere and save a lot of money in the process. Amazon, amazon, amazon... Did you ever cut your fingers with the serrations on the Univer-co? I imagine that the rubber gloves didn't offer much protection. Maybe they will just knurl them in future revisions of their product. I don't wear gloves very often at all. Never rubber ones but I might if I'm tasked with cleaning somebody else's toilet. 🤪 Thanks for the video though, I'm going with the Lock-n-Lube.

Hello and thanks for this comparison!I use the Univer-Co and the only problem I have with it is that it won't lock on some zerks. The max diameter for these zerks are 0.1 - 0.2 mm bigger than on the ones where it works. I don't know if it's the diameter or if there is something else in the geometry of the "zerk-head" that is the problem. Can't say it's a big problem, out of the 50-60 zerks I have on my backhoe it is only 2 that gives me problem, and of course these 2 are specially made so I can't change them. The issue about removing the U-Co from the zerk, if it is stuck I use a narrow plier but there is also a special tool from U-Co. It can't be difficult to do one yourself either.Interesting that you are so positive on Lock-N-Lube, to me it did not look reliable.Good Luck

I've been using a Lock n Lube on a heavy duty Lincoln manual grease gun for a couple years now on the farm, and it has been very reliable. I have not yet had to use the seal kit that came with it yet. I'm actual needing to kit the gun because doesn't pump as well as it used to, I think from trying to grease too many zerks that were stuck up. I have the same one complaint about the Lock n Lube, it is too long and not compact enough to get at some zerks in tight spaces, so I still have a standard coupler on my electric gun.

Lincoln makes a kit with several tips. Inside the kit is a Needle grease fitting (rubber tip) with a coupler that fits onto their regular Lincoln fittings. It is sold seperate so no need to spend $90 for kit. Snap it on and press rubber tip into center of check ball in a regular fitting of any size and grease it. I know Its outlasted all my friends that keep buying the next best things like these fittings that do work but truth is they simply don't last long. My needle tip is several yrs old now and the only way I can see it fail is they stop making regular grease fittings. Just saying.

I took it off and do not use it anymore. If your hands are greasy, it is very hard to release. I am back to using the lock-n-lube on one grease gun, and just a regular coupler on my other grease gun. I have been meaning to make an update video, but haven't had time. Thanks for watching!

I have both and really like them. There are a few zerks that the LockNlube will not fit into like PTO shafts will shields but I haven't tried the new LockNlube longer version yet. After I got the Unver-Co hung on a zerk that LockNlube Unver-Co wouldn't fit into, I am now afraid to use the Unver-Co in that situation again. So I use the conventional coupler and the standard steel tube attached onto a manual grease gun for those. I had purchased the Unver-Co only because of the zerks where the LockNlube couldn't get to. (LOL).
