This is my experience with the Logitech Pebble Keys 2 K380s, Multi-Device Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard with Customizable Shortcuts, Slim and Portable.
Essentially it practically weighs the same as the old K830. Is about the same width, length and height. Requires AAA batteries. Is the same. But costs more. I'm not impressed at all. I got excited for a split second thinking it would be USB C, or have an internal battery, or be thinner or weigh less. Nope, more of the same. Just costs moar.

An important point missed is that it doesn't have the annoying delay that the original version had. I eventually sold version 1 as it was a pain to wait for the delay after only a few minutes of inactivity. I have tried the new version with the Bolt receiver and bluetooth and there is no lag with either. On v2 I also think the keys contrast better against the keyboard, making them easier to see and type on.

I never had any delay with the original one. And once I set it, it's set. I usually just set it with my laptop or my phone. You might have gotten a dud.
@ianj8411
@ianj8411 9 ай бұрын
I bought the keyboard twice, thinking the first was faulty. After it happened again Logitech confirmed the keyboard has a sleep mode, which kicks in after a few minutes of inactivity. Once typing again the keyboard takes a few moments to wake up. Might not bother some people but annoying for me.

I have 2 K380, one for work, one for home and haven't had that issue. But again, once it's set, it's set. I'm not constantly shifting. And each K380 can assign to 3 different devices easily.@@ianj8411
@ianj8411
@ianj8411 9 ай бұрын
No shifting devices here either. The delay is after a period of inactivity, not through switching devices. The first version uses bluetooth 3.0, so they built in sleep mode to compensate for the extra battery drain. The new model uses bluetooth low energy, so no need for sleep mode. @@Dracomies

Features the new version brings to the table: K380s battery life is longer. If the difference between 36 months and 24 months means anything to to anyone. K380s is made out of 64% recycled plastic. If you care about such things. K380s is compatible with Logi Bolt USB receiver (but doesn't come with it). I think the bluetooth standard is different as well but not sure.

You missed one key feature that logitech often omits themselves. Bluetooth version, I had the k380 and I live in a building where there are a lot of competing signals utilizing the 2.4g band and because of that the keyboard often struggled to send keystrokes to my devices, the newer one has bluetooth 5.1 which should be more compatible with current devices and less likely to get drowned in the 2.4g band with better optimizations in it's general operations

While I love the rechargable Logitech mouse, I do love that this using batteries. If it would have a built-in battery and that would die or getting worse over time, I would need to replace the keyboard. This way if anything wrong I just would need to replace the batteries.

You are not really right. First version doesn't have any possibility to connect except Bluetooth. Belive me, I spent 10+ hours on being sure about this. I have this keyboard staying in ita original box, because I just can't use it with my work PC, which has Bluetooth menu locked by administrators. I bought a Bluetooth dongle, and connected keyboard with it on other PC, but this doesn't work on any other PC, you should connect it with the Bluetooth dongle on every PC. With proprietary receivers (non-unifying, unifying, bolt) that's not the case. Connected once device remembers the receiver. But K380 has only Bluetooth, nothing else. Also, for now new K380S doesn't have so much colors as old K380, violet for example.

BT 5.x and and Logitech dongle connection are huge upgrades for me. Loosing the connection and reconnecting were a big pain with my old K380. I loved it. At some point the space bar had a problem, i couldn't fix it. Because of BT 3 and lack of connectivity to the USB receiver I didn't buy a new one. Thanks to you and the comments, i now know that they fixed that. My only other criticism is that for a mobile keyboard it is a bit heavy.

what i wish they improved with this keyboard is allow for usb type C connection and a dedicated dongle (stored on the keyboard) as well. for those times when you need to tinker with the BIOS settings, or have a new computer to pair. they did include logi bolt functionality but to use that youd have to buy it separately (or get it in the pebble 2 combo pack)

I agree! It would have been nice to have USB C. I'm also disappointed that they couldn't make this thing lighter. It's like the EXACT same weight as the original K380. If they could make it lighter it'd be so sweet haha.

Apparently, Fn functionality is not usable in BIOS (even if you set F1 etc to be default instead of the functions), so that means you can not use F1 - F12 to enter a BIOS. It's only usable in cases where another key is used to enter the BIOS such as the Del key. *This might be dependent on the specific BIOS though, has not been tested with many PCs afaik.

Are you sure that size of keyboard (keys) is the same as old one? I think the new version is little wider (have more space between keys). Because the old was not regular size comparing to regular keyboard, and this new version I guess they fix that. If you mesure distance from "A" to "enter", I think the K380s should be wider, in total maybe 0.5 cm, because that was the difference when I was comparing K380 with my regular keyboard.

I wanted to help answer this particular question. I've been using the k380 keyboard for almost a year now, and while it's mid-range in quality for its price, the ability to seamlessly switch between devices using the three buttons is amazing. Paired with Logi M720, it works perfectly fine. I would love it if Logitech could update it to support Logi Bolt technology.

Logi Bolt compatibility means there's now a cheap HTPC keyboard available! You might say, "but there's bluetooth on the old version" and I would respond: a) most PCs don't have Bluetooth. b) Bluetooth doesn't work in UEFI settings. c) Bluetooth is far from user friendly, my elderly parents can't comprehend it.

The TLDR of this is that the 'physical dimensions' are pretty much the same as the old K380. Same weight, same length, same width and same height. I was hoping it would be lighter in ounces. I'm a r/onebag traveler and weight is very important to me because I travel often with just carry-on in 7 KG maximum weight airlines. So I was hoping that this would be lighter, something like the Logitech Go but with better typeability. Or even just a few ounces less, and certainly not the SAME weight. At the very least I was hoping it wouldn't require AAA batteries or it would have USB C pluggability. But ultimately it's the same thing as the old K380 (down to the weight, height and length) but with better bluetooth which wasn't a selling point for me. To me, I didn't see a reason to upgrade from the K380 and was honestly hoping for a physical change.

Man you don't know what people are looking for in these keyboards. You don't want internal batteries for these. This is made for work and were designed to be portable. That AAA battery does not add much weight on it, instead it gives you the ability to replace them with ease. Internal battery makes it hard when you need to fix it on the go. You can literally get the battery from anywhere, whereas internal batteries are specialized batteries that can only be bought by placing orders. Adding to that, the device switching function lets you operate several work stations without having a set of input device for each. The main difference between these two is that the K380S have a much lower power consumption, it last about 1.5 times longer than the old model. So yes, it's even more convenient to travel with it.
