The TVA using the infinity stones as paperweights doesn’t lessen their worth in the main timeline. Their power is simply nullified in the TVA. For example, in the water, a shark is an apex predator, yet on land it’s virtually harmless.

The entire episode was the Marvel version of the Allegory of the Cave. Loki thought the infinity stones were the ultimate power, but the TVA comes along and shows him the world outside the cave and it results in his worldview and the stone's place in that world to change.

They don’t kill every variant. They either “prune” (destroy the entire branch) or “reset” (push the branch back towards the main time line). The “sacred” timeline is not really a single timeline. There is noise from free will. Most of the noise bends back towards the main flow. It only becomes an issue if it doesn’t bend back and crosses the red line.

Pruning sounds like hunter slang. Resetting sounds like a euphemism for "erase from existence". Loki makes that remark to Mobius, about Mobius killing him, and Mobius indicates that was the place Loki just came from after he'd be sentenced to be reset. I think the TVA is essentially exterminating entire alternate realities when it "resets" them. Not to mention, even stuff like Pillboy's cart are capable of being reset by those glowing sticks. If all being reset did was push you back to the sacred timeline, why'd it affect the cart? And why was Pillboy afraid of it happening to him?

@@BigMikeMcBastard I think pruning and resetting both involve ostensibly killing the people in the timeline, but the difference is that one will entirely erase a being while the other will just move them back to where they were before their split- essentially killing them but leaving them alive in some form. I imagine the difference would be based on whether the person exists outside of the split timeline or not. So like, the people who found Loki at the start of episode 1 in the desert. The version of them that found Loki will be reset from existence, but the versions from a few minutes prior who were just in the desert when Loki was about to crash will still be there. Whereas if you have somebody who was only born/created because of the split, and therefore doesn’t exist outside of it, they are removed entirely.

Yeah, it seemed like in the animation of the “Sacred” timeline, it was actually a few lines interwoven, showing space between at times.

@@brianburkhardt3692 I think the whole "It's totally okay to murder this person due to this technicality and it's totally okay" is TVA propoganda and all the variants are absolutely people and all the timelines are equal. The TVA is basically the Time Nazis winning. The "Sacred" timeline is just the one that continues their existence IMO. Interesting that it's the one with time heist action that also makes the very unlikely "Thanos loses" scenario happening as well, they could tie the two together if they wanted to (Whoever's behind the TVA "beat" thanos by finding the timeline he loses in and pruning all the others from there)

@@ThatFreeWilliam oh definitely, I think it’s very telling that in episode 1 they leave behind the reset device and leave the timeline and don’t go back. Möbius talking to that kid? Saying how they’d make it right? He was saying that to a “variant” that he and his team were about to reset. In essence killing that kid. They’re not the good guys they make themselves out to be.

If the MCU was a car the infinity stones would be the steering wheel. The wheel, when attached, has absolute control over where the whole car goes, but a steering wheel by itself without the car is just a paperweight.

Of course the stones are still powerful. They never meant for people to think they're literally "paper weights". It's just that the TVA's power and authority LITERALLY is on a higher hierarchy than reality itself or the stones that harness its powers.

@Ryan Meadors I think if Loki took them out of the TVA they would regain power. The TVA exists outside of normal time and space in the comics. They are possibly setting it up to have the TVA exist in the Quantum Realm. So the big physics of of the infinity stones and Loki’s magic don’t work in Quantum Realm maybe?

Well technically by the definition they should be useless since the infinity stones make up the flow of time in their own universe. Since the TVA is scrapping those timelines and resetting them the infinity stones with in those timelines should also be reset since they are the things that are causing the splits. Therefore the drawer full of infinity stones are basically just useless at least from what I understand so far regarding the first episode

The Sacred Timeline Timestone taken in Endgame was from the same universe as Loki's Space stone, so if that Timestone worked, then Loki's space stone should still be useful.

if you notice when the hunter first brings loki and the tesseract into the tva, just when the portal closes behind them, the tesseract gets dimmer as its connection to its timeline and universe is severed.

Could be why TVA wants this timeline. The infinity stones are “mist” and basically can’t be found/used. That takes a major power source out of the equation for whatever this universe faces

I mean, we're now saying there is the potential for infinite parallel universes (except that the TVA keeps "clipping them off" right away), so it makes sense that there are millions of variants doing every kind of thing, and the TVA exists outside and above all this. So I think it makes sense that they could gather Infinity Stones over and over, rare weapons, baseball cards, even people, and also it makes sense that they don't care that much about them. It's just part of their job.

Maybe that is what that person in the end was. When they took that reset thing, their purpose is that they go through multiple realities with an Infinity Stone and sees if they work in that reality. If not, reset that reality.

Couldn’t the fact there are multiple infinity stones be a clue that the multiverse is real. We were told the stones were created when the universe was created, if there’s more than one universe couldn’t each one have a set of infinity stones?

That is the case in the comics. Each universe has its own version of infinity gems / infinity stones. For example: the main marvel earth 616 universe has 6 infinity gems (which are stones now), while the ultimate earth 1610 universe has 8 infinity gems (though the extra two were never really named or shown of what their power was)

Also with every reality having their own infinity stones, those stones can only work within the universe they come from. In a Justice League/Avengers story, when Darkseid tries to use the infinity gauntlet, it doesn’t work because the gems aren’t from the DC universe. They only work in their own universe, and are powerless in others

I explained this in other video and they told me the stones don't work anymore, but I told them if someone was able to track the origin, the stones would be active, because the stones would recognise their own universe. Yeah lets hope Loki keep some stones in his pockets

But he would have to get the set of all six stones from the same universe in order to use them.. He’d have to figure out which stones came from where/when and go there to use them. Can’t just pocket any 6 and go back to his original timeline, they won’t work

That "palming of the time stone" idea may come into play with those shots from the trailer of Pompei. (Also going back that far would POSSIBLY be a way to introduce one or more of the Eternals before their movie release? But that's probably unlikely.) Also, it wouldn't be THAT out of character for "Variant Loki" to want to use the time stone to go see Frigga or Odin knowing what he knows now about the future events from Thor 2 and 3, with a Rene Russo cameo more likely than an Anthony Hopkins one.

If you watched the episode the tesarect stopped glowing as soon as he entered the TVA so it seems they only don’t work in the pocket TVA dimension. Everywhere else they would be good though

It wasn't instant though. It was around 3.5 seconds after entering the TVA and 1 second after the doorway closed. Was that the amount of "time" it took for the reset device to do it's work to destroy that timeline? Or was it still connected to its branch while the doorway was open and it took a second after the doorway closed for its power to dissipate? Then if it was taken back to the "real world" would it regain its power or would it have been permanently lost because that branch was clipped?

@@spidervenompoolfistofkhonshu no I think they just don't work in the TVA, like Loki's powers. In Endgame they grabbed the stones from all different timelines and they still worked, and the stones the TVA has are from this Loki's universe just different branches off the timeline as far as we know.

In endgame that was time travel they were technically still in the same timeline they just created alternate timelines. its been stated in marvel and comics multiple times that stones only work within their respective universes

From what I gleaned during the animated informercial on timelines it seems when they reset the timelines and take you back out from the branch you created that there’s a version of you in the original sacred timeline that continues and acts as you should yet your conscious self still has to stand trial outside of any timeline as “you have lost your place on the timeline”. Similar to the infinity stones that have been taken out of a timeline

So kind of another call back to the number 6/hexagons. Including the "prime" timeline versions there are 6 variations of each character. A nexus being/event sounds like it will be individuals/events that remains constants throughout the 6 possible timelines (starting with 6 possible variations seems to be pretty manageable as far as multiverse goes)

The part of the Eternals trailer where Phastos is building a golden symbol looks like he is conjuring something very much like that mathematical diagram you suggested might represent the 9 realms.

Plot twist: the stones were actually mined from "Africa" of some other planets and Red Skull was actually just trolling everyone about the whole sacrifice thing.

What if there was a simplified reason why they had these stones? Each universe had their own set of stones and were taken by the TVA to join them into the sacred timeline and left 1 set of 6 in the sacred timeline. The rest are kept out.

I think that the big yellow stone is the mind one not the soul, since mind stone was the biggest one on the gauntlet. plus i feel like no one had the guts to get the soul stone since it was on vormir and no one wanted to sacrifice the one they loved most. that’s why the soul stone was never tinkered with without creating a branch timeline.

The messed up thing is by the TVA allowing the avengers to do the time heist they caused the Tesseract to be dropped at Loki’s feet causing a branch timeline. They shouldn’t arrest him for what was their plan all along

@@FWbaracuss Even in the Comics. The Comics is just a different Universe. The TV Shows, Comic, and Movies are all different Universes, in the Marvel Multiverse. The 'Main Universe' has it's own Infinity Stones. The MCU Unverse, has it's own Infinity Stones. Every Universe has it's own unique version of the Infinity Stones. It's why in the Movies they are 'Infinity Stones', but in the Comics they are 'Infinity Gems', and in a different universe seen in the comics, they are 'Infinite Planets'. And the Stones ONLY lose power, if they are Remove from their OWN Universe. Aka, If you take the Main Comic Universe, Earth 616, and take their Stones and bring them into a different Universe, such as Earth-295, A universe where Apocalypse Wins and Rules the Earth, then the Earth 616 Infinite Stones stop working. BUT, Timetravel stays in the SAME Universe. Time Travel, is NOT the same as Dimensional Travel. These Stones, are all Stones from the MCU Universe. Different 'Times' in that Universe, but still that same UNIVERSE. Those stones, still being in the same universe, even if at different times, would 100% work, and 100% be at full power. Even if Outside of Time, Space, or in a pocket Dimension. Only going to a different Universe will stop the stones from working.

The 9 realms graph at 5:17 looks very similar to the structure that Phastos builds in the Eternals trailer at 41 seconds from the Marvel trailer release version. It's very intriguing.

I think the stones might just be useless in the TVA, the same way that Loki didn't permanently lose the ability to use his powers when he entered the TVA I think if you bring an infinity stone back to the main timeline then you'll end up with a fully functional stone. But something I'd like to point out is the fact that the cart that got destroyed was just the stuff that was recently sorted as evidence, as I highly doubt they'd just have all their evidence in one single cart, probably some sort of evidence room more likely. I like to think that cart was just the evidence from that morning, and as he brought everyone their requested paperwork/mail he was also bringing in the evidence to the evidence room.

The infinity stones they used went on to exist in those alternate timelines, just with the little hiccup in them being taken for a moment. Simply existing and going back in time creates an alternate timeline that continues to exist. It just plays out the same as the "sacred timeline". It wasn't branched timelines he was clipping, it was the doomed/variant timelines he was clipping. It wasn't making them not exist though, it was just making sure they continue on like they're supposed to. So they had the potential to become doomed/variants until cap returned the stones and mjolnir. If he didn't then the events would be unable to play out like the sacred timeline and that would lead to the bad guys winning pretty much.

Without them specifically saying that it is inert, we can't really assume that the stones wouldn't be powerful in "The Sacred Timeline" or any other branch timelime. It's possible that when Casey said "Some of them..." he meant that an as-yet-unnamed individual (or individuals) may have made off for with some of them, stepped into a branch timeline and were immediately consumed by the power when attempting to use them (and the timeline probably pruned by the TVA). I think we're missing some meta statements here. Back in Thor, when Jane, Darcy and Selvig are talking about the stories of Asgard, Darcy points out that Asgardian technology would seem like magic to primitive humans, as "any technology sufficiently advanced will seem like magic." When Loki says to Mobius "I thought you said there was no magic here..." that was a broader statement that the Asgardian whose tech had mystified early humans as "magic" was now the bewildered primitive. It's all a part of him coming to understand what's happening and the moment with the drawer is a part of that, too.

The tesseract visibly and audibly powers down when Loki enters the TVA, not when the portal closes - They could all still work when taken back into normal space/time.

Offthought: From what Dr.Strange claims, it means there's at least 14,000,605 different branched timelines from the Endgame saga alone (presumably +2 for the two branched and presumably culled timelines where alt-Thanos and alt-Loki came from) Also, it's possible that in many of those branched timelines, he may have met and/or observed the time variance authority reset the time branch to mark them as failed... Which does bring in another possible entity for the "big bad": an alt-Dr Strange, possibly specifically interfering with the timelines and the TVA to ensure that the "sacred timeline" remains as such.

That logic would make it impossible to time travel then, because as soon as you did you would be traveling back in time from a branch variant and not inside of the sacred timeline. so which past would you be going back to? Either that or it would look more like a family tree than a linear line because all of the "branch timelines" would spawn from the end of the line which would be the current time.

Nice! That's what I thought, that we didn't exactly see him put the time stone back. So maybe he kept it, just in case he gets out of the TVA, and then he can try to see if it works in a more normal dimension.
