www.modernmartialartist.com/do... The fight between Vsyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux was shocking. Lomachenko dismantled an undefeated champion widely considered one of the greatest of all time, making him quit on his stool. While the ending was disappointing, there are a lot of very high level techniques that Lomachenko employed incredibly well throughout the fight. So lets take a look at how Lomachenko absolutely destroyed one of the greatest defenses in boxing, and then quickly examine why Rigondeaux decided to say No Mas.

Estarlin Castro that's still rediciulous. Sure that's true but I don't think that's a good reason to give up. Rocky marciano was being outclassed and undersized for some of his fights but he never gave up and ended up knocking them tfo.

Tyler Ross The difference is that Rocky knew he would be hit just based on his style alone. Rigo on the other hand is a defensive counter puncher who is used to finding his target and in this fight all he found was air

Rigot refused to fight with Lomachenko, when he still did not move into the category above .... so who is now to blame for Rigondeaux, that he had to climb 2 categories higher ??? Then he was offered good money, besides, he did not have fights, and lomachenko only recently end match, but rigondo sasys - loma to "frivolous" rival. Loma is the best! He did not always f*** about his superiority, but simply proved everything in the ring.

It's seriously just the way he punches..his offense.. it's soft and playful calmness.. like rigos defense which relies on a tense opponent.. he can't read Lomas punches because he throws them with no bad intentions.. Lomas footwork is aggressive and explosive always changing angles, ppl think they're not getting affected by his punches because he doesn't use his true power.. but it accumulates and throes the power once his opponent does not expect

Before the fight: "Loma hasn't fought anybody until he fights Rigo." "Rigo gonna expose Loma." "Rigo gonna knock out Loma." "Loma never fought a fighter with Rigo's skills." After the fight: "Loma has to fight Crawford to prove he is legit." "Rigo too small, too old." "Loma is too big, Rigo had to go up 2 weight classes." "Rigo is still the better-skilled defensive boxer, he just hurt his hand." Amazing how narratives change when you're salty as F.

yes but rigo is still one of the best skilled defensive boxers. I give loma full credit and he is probably the best p4p fighter, but that doesnt mean that rigondeaux is bad. Rigondeaux is still a boxing hall of famer, lomachenko just found a way to defuse rigondeauxs boxing style.

Well people make excuses up when your great, Rigo was totally outclassed. When Mayweather was still boxing, the excuses that came after he dismantled world class fighters are too funny. Lomachenko was just too good, no ifs, buts or maybes.

Rigo being a boxing hall-of-Famer? I agree, no argument there. And although I had doubts initially about Loma in the professional ring, well this fight settles it. No, he didn't beat up Rigo to a pulp, but the flow of the fight showed there was no way Rigo was gonna win... or connect a game-changing punch.

Man, Loma is making these guys quit... not because of damage they're taking, but because he frustrates them with otherworldy skill. They realize about 3 rounds in that the man is 5 levels above them and there is absolutely nothing they can do to hit him and not get hit by him. To make a 2-time Olympic champion, undefeated P4Per, one of the best fighters ever below featherweight just quit in the middle of the fight... Unreal. Dude is on another plane, just in a league of his own.

Part of the problem though isn't just Loma's skill, but his speed and agility that allows him do these things. You ever notice how Loma gets faster and FASTER after ever round? I think it's part of him and his dad's game plan for every fight - to not ever give the opponent any time to breath. Most boxers do not have the stamina to do this.

lynn pabon the elite hero You made a point he fought nobody.. Yes! But he fought who was puting in his way.. Did you know Cus D'Amato? Cus is one if not the greatest trainer in boxing, he know everything. He even help Ali for Foreman. The technic of Mike Tyson is clearly the best in boxing but for that technic you need to be mentaly prepare because you need to be agressive and show no fear. It a complexe technic but a complet technic. Is mental ability when he was with Cus was perfect to be the greatest boxer but Cus die so he is not.. You said the other know nothing about boxing but your the only here that know nothing about Iron Mike and Mike is boxing just like Ali or other legends. all legends and great boxer said Mike is part of the best boxer in HW history.. So how can someone that know everything in boxing dont know that???
@joeofdoom
@joeofdoom 6 жыл бұрын
Check his record before you go calling him a bum most of his opponents had very good records and you dont win 50 professional heavyweight boxing fights by not being good at what you do. Tyson fought plenty of good boxers just because you couldnt name them all doesnt mean they werent good I couldnt name most of Ali, Foreman or Frasiers opponents but that doesnt mean they were all shit.

Every one's talking about Loma's offense but it wasn't his offense that made rigo quit. It was his defense. Loma didn't really hurt rigo. It was the fact that rigo couldn't touch lomachenko that made him quit. Loma didn't really hurt rigo but he was getting some touches but rigo couldn't touch loma at all and that's what frustrated him and made him quit. Thus far, Lomachenko is looking like a total package boxer. Elite offense and defense.

He has no choice but to move up to 140 imo. There is no competition and he's actually pretty big for a 130 pounder he shouldn't have problem making weight at 140 and with his skill set i doubt he would lose much of a step. We need to see him against competition though that mikey garcia fight will be interesting but i think he's a bit better, but at least mikey will make adjustments unlike rigo ducking ass shit pissed me off

Lomachenko and Rigo are both top level chessmasters of boxing. Both men realized that one was consistently 2-3 moves ahead. Both men realized that the conclusion was inevitable. Loma is a more active fighter who can both score points and put serious pressure on his opponent. His footwork is better, his speed is equivalent, and his handspeed is better. Even if Rigo was just as young and naturally large as Loma, he still most likely loses. Rigo's style is not designed to counter high volume, high talent fighters. It wouldn't ever work against Loma. The only hope Rigo has was a random left hand, something he knew was never going to happen. NO MAS Mikey Garcia is the next one on my list for Loma.

Relyvant Wins i know right.theres one thing in boxing thats always been there a great bigger boxer nearly always beat a great smaller fighter.i rate both these fighters but i think loma wud have still beat him regardless of size.just my opinion.in thier amatuer careers 14 boxers figured riga out.in lomas out of hundreds of fights only one boxer figured him out.that might not mean much to some.loma has only had an hand ful of fights and now thier all saying he shud move up Most of the greats didnt move up untill theyd had 25 to 35 fights.me thinks people want to see loma lose cos they dont like to see success.and also where all racist as well for liking him cos hes white blah blah fucking blah.like hes our great white hope.i wonder how great black hope sounds.not very good but the media doesnt mind pushing the white hope bit.its so sad how boxing seems to attract empty headed racist cos its the noble art

Lomencheko doesn’t just flight he enters a chess match and makes the opponent do what he wants them to do, there is no adjustments to me be made, there is nothing the corner can say. If the opponent doesn’t come into the fight ready to play chess and out smarts lomencheko (which I can’t name a fighter who could) then it’s over. He will pick them apart and make them do what he wants them to do. There’s not another boxer today like him. He is changing boxing and how to win fights, unless someone can get extremely lucky off a unorthodox swing (and he can take a punch) I don’t see anyone beating him. The only chance of losing he has is himself, if he pulls a Tyson and becomes too confident in himself and loses his drive to train then that’s the only way I see him losing ever, which doesn’t seem his character. Right now I would bet he could take anyone in the 135 range and dare I say 140 because he’s that good. Even though he made this fight look as easy as he did, the fight was not promoted the way it should have been. This should has been his hardest test when he made it look easy once again. He is the next Ali, and even tho he isn’t the type to talk shit and promote the fight like Ali did( I love that he is a somewhat humble fighter) but at the end of the day he needs to sell tickets he needs to show the general public how far ahead he is to everyone who fights him! Not only for his career but for the future of boxing. He is the one (Neo) the one to change the game and bring back coxing to its glory, because boxing is (the way he does it) a game of intellect and he shows the world that!

Rigo never flinched or winced when his corner was jerking his left glove off or grabbing the "injured" hand. If his hand was really so injured that he couldn't continue fighting, he would have at least winced when they jerked it around or tried to protect it in some way.

The problem seemed to be how Rigo reacted to Loma's feints & probes. Through Loma's faints & probes he was able to not only close the gap, to get Rigo into poor positions and lose control of the space between then. And with Rigo's only bending over, his weight seemed only on his back foot which didnt allow him to pivot away, which left him a sitting duck.

I love how ( well not really) ALL of these guys ( well not ALL but mostly just the racist black people ) are like "Ooooooh at a lighter weight, Rigo would have flown through the air and fought an entirely different fight!" Has no one ever heard of the days when these weight subdivisions did not exist? Guys like Marciano and Ali had to give up 15,20,25,30 pounds at times and they never complained. Rigo was outsmarted, outlanded and outclassed by a superior Ukrainian intellect. Stop making excuses for this guy and accept the fact that he tested his mettle and was proven inferior.

Rigondeaux broke his left hand by only landing 15 punches, 5 were suppose to be power shots. Well it only takes one messed up punch and a bone can go, I must of missed that because he would have reacted to the pain. It was odd throughout the fight it looked like Rigondeaux was up for it. Problem is Rigondeaux is a good fighter, he still has a good record but people are gonna remember this for along time, a bad time in his career. Will Rigondeaux rise above up this, learn, maybe evolve? And is who gonna face Lomachenko next and crack the puzzle that is his style?

And Rigo ran his ass over to Loma and Bob to congratulate. Makes no sense. I've seen a lot of Rigo fight footage. The guy does not just sit there ducking down and get tagged, the guy always moves away anytime punches are thrown at him. He never just stands there, never. Sometimes he does that to make people look bad but only then. This shit looked so off from the start.

You've glossed over the fact that Rigo has never been "one of the greatest of all time", let alone "widely recognized". Nobody considered him that. He's been considered one of the best DEFENSIVE fighters, because he refuses to punch until there's an opening his opponent gives. Rigo has always fought scared, and Lomachenko exposed that.

People still saying loma hype? Get the f outa here. Best p4p on a list that includes ward (son of judges). Can’t believe they kept that 1 loss on his record after his opponent clearly cheated!

Zizou V he’s not number one yet. That’s Terence Crawford. U can’t deny that man. He unified 140 and dropped all his belts to move up to 147. You can’t deny that man. Loma is undoubtedly 2. He’s likely one or two more big fights away from getting in the argument with Crawford.

And then you will "consider" him? What fucking excuse will you come up with after that? If he beats crawford he is undisputed. But haters will continue to hate. I say he beats crawford pretty easily. For the record, im a huge crawford fan. The guy is amazing. Its just that Loma is not from this era, hes the new era.
