London, Ontario is a city located in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is the 11th largest city in Canada and is home to Western University and Fanshawe College. Downtown London is a bustling area that is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. One interesting fact about downtown London is that it is home to Covent Garden Market, a historic market that has been in operation since 1845. The market features a wide selection of fresh produce, baked goods, and unique crafts and gifts. It is a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
Downtown London, Ontario is a desirable location for real estate, offering a mix of residential and commercial properties. The area is in high demand due to its proximity to amenities, transportation and limited availability.

I used to have childhood friends who lived in London, Ontario. I traveled to London between 1975 and the 1980's to visit with them. I was amazed at the beautiful public parks and how they were well kept. The people were very friendly and helpful to me in finding my way around the city, etc. My paternal grandma was originally from Newfoundland, Canada during the British reign, and I was the first family member to visit there and met lots of relatives. As I recall, lots of beautiful unspoilt scenery could be seen all around. It was truly a breath of fresh air especially after living in a big, overcrowded city most of my life.

London, Ontario has gone from a city where young Canadians and singles and families could look for fulfilling their Canadian dream because of affordability compared to GTA to a haven of the same demographic that has made pretty much every area in Ontario unaffordable for an average tax-paying hard working Canadian, especially young people who are finding that the stability previous generations enjoyed might not be achievable anymore.

Ontario is still affordable just gotta have a nice down payment. Ppl that spend like crazy then cry and complain it’s to expensive. Just move to alberta where housing is cheap and pay less taxes when you spend there
@albatrose1001
@albatrose1001 Жыл бұрын
@@Gillz34 Ontario is not affordable by any definition sir. In fact, research has shown that housing costs and general cost of living in Ontario and BC has resulted in low fertility rates so now Canada depends on immigration to grow. All these issues are interconnected and have impact on a much larger scale.

London is filled with garbage, boarded up buildings, shops and restaurants, shattered bus shelters, an overload of traffic, inefficient road, bridge infrastructure, high rents with developers continually getting permits to build highrise luxury units, enormous amount of rental space left unoccupied/for lease for decades by one real estate person who’s been buying up London buildings since the 70’s (he owns half of London commercial real estate), crime, stabbings, shootings, unprecedented number of car accidents, sirens from ambulance, fire trucks and police cars day and night running in all parts of the city, a huge homeless population, incompetent city council, high parking fees…but Yaa, the trees are nice.

Over the past 3-5 years London has become of a dumpster fire for many reasons.... The downtown is brutal and has killed off most of the business that was there. Richmond row is more of an entertainment area for clubs bars and vic park for summer events. But the city planners here should be ashamed of the utter destruction of the majority of roads in and around the core. Roadwork is understandably a necessary evil, but there is a reason you have a planning committee, and that's to organize what gets done when. The bus system that was suppose to make mass transit better in London has done nothing but confuse people as to what routes go where now. And don't even try going anywhere near Adelaide St (by Oxford) during rush hour. Notably, the next generation (my kids) will probably need to move out of province if they want a chance at buying a house. But this is true of most places in Ontario now (unfortunately). Needless say, it's not a great place to live, but it does have some benefits, despite my mostly negative take.

Correction the Covent garden market building has not been there sincethe1800s. The original one was torn down and rebuilt. The current building was built in 1999.

As a resident of London it used to be a liveable city. Safe, reasonably prices but now just like every city in Canada it has gone downhill. Homelessness, drug use and crime are rising and good luck finding reasonably priced housing. I am moving ASAP, this is no place to raise a child.

a bit of London history - Old big Victorian homes downtown used to be for low income families in the 1940's 50's 60's and 70's. Much has changed, these homes have been bought and renovated, now considered luxury Victorians. The Covent Garden Market today is not the original building, the market as it is today is the 3rd market building to occupy the space. The first building constructed in the 1850's, the second market building constructed in 1958, and the newest market building constructed in 1999.

I visit London every 6 months, and we rent an apartment there, my wife is a resident London is not nice, victoria park is filled with homeless people, and coming into downtown there is a methadone with junkies lined up. You can't walk the city without coming across human feces. There are so many homeless people on drugs, my wife went to take the garbage once and had me on the phone and some dude tried to chase her into our home... London is being marketed as a nice family historic town by realtors, It's not. Your kids can not ride bikes without the danger of someone attacking them, you can't get a family doctor,(waiting lists are a year out) the walking clinics are awful they get shut down for validations, and they had a serial sex assault by the same person for over a year by the college. The health inspectors accept bribes from restaurants so they don't get shut down, and almost all of the down restaurants have vermin and roaches (don't believe me check Reddit, people have photo evidence)

Both great cities! If you need to be closer to GTA (Greater Toronto Area) I would recommend Kitchener but if you are looking for lower living costs London would still be on my list as well! Both Cities have great Universities and Colleges to pick from depending on your specialized studies. If you are studying business London has world famous IVEY Business School. If you are studying computer science University of Waterloo would be my pick.

This video is misleading. London has lost its luster from the 80’s and 90’s. The only positives that I can think of off the top of my head is its first class educational institutions: Fanshawe College and Western University as well as its close proximity to Toronto.

Don’t move to London Ont, very bad roads, road system sucks, takes to long to get around because traffic is always backed up, way to many students, downtown totally rundown and vacant, no good resteraunts, not enough affordable housing, no good jobs, schools are over filled. Way to conservative, to many old fashion ways of doing things. Don’t waste your time or money moving here.

I'm so sorry for Canada. Most things about a good Canada are not true, Including clean cities - beaches, and forests. It's a big lie. The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherlands, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. Canadian and Canada Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see this in Europe, Australia, the United States, Japan, and Korea. This amount of waste is not even seen in Malaysian, Indonesian, or Thailand cities. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beaches in Canada. I wish the Canadians woke up and had no enmity with their country. I randomly looked at videos from downtown Manchester and Concord in New Hampshire - Philadelphia - Detroit - Chicago - New York - Baltimore - Denver - Nashville, and Knoxville in the United States, and Toronto - Quebec - Montreal - Winnipeg - Calgary - Vancouver - Victoria - Ottawa and Thunder Bay in Canada. we should be fair. The bitter truth must be accepted. Without any exaggeration. Completely impartial. I have to say that I didn't see a single piece of garbage in any of the US videos to convince myself. Without exaggeration, in all Canadian cities, there must have been a piece of garbage on the ground less than every hundred meters.

@@edbrown4800 Hi dear friend. First: I think New York cannot be compared to any city in Canada. More than 90% of New York is so clean with new municipal plans in recent years. You can only see some specific places dirty. This is unlike Canadian cities, especially Toronto-Montreal-Vancouver-Edmonton-Regina-Winnipeg and Saskatoon, where everywhere you look you see garbage less than every 100 meters. unlike Canada, the US never claims to be a clean country but is really clean more than %90 of the country. you cannot see homelessness and homeless people in no other country to the amount Canada. Homeless people are littering - shouting and hurting people in Canada but in the US I have never seen one.

@alborzdmavandi8190
@alborzdmavandi8190 Жыл бұрын
@@WingIdRat I think this is not just a problem in Vancouver. It exists in all cities in Canada, even small towns. You cannot see these problems in any other country as much as Canada, even in the United States. With the exception of Kingston Street in Philadelphia, in the United States, if you see homeless people in some major cities, you cannot see litter around them, they don't shout. There is no developed or even developing country the same as Canada in the problem of litter, homelessness, worn-out asphalt, broken sidewalks, and worn-out houses. even, you can see litter in Canada's national parks. I think Canada has a cultural problem in these matters.
