This is the second review video in our series of reviews of the brand new Lone Star Grillz 20" offset series. Totally redesigned, these 20" offsets are beautiful. In part one we uncrated her. In this edition, we touch on a few specs and highlights, and then dig into the unique baffling and airflow system that Lone Star Grillz claims will get you within 5-10 degrees left to right in your offset - wait for it - WITH NO TUNING PLATES! We take a close look at this Crossflow system.
Future plans: I hope to complete at least 2 to 4 more review videos in June and post them here on this brand new BBQ channel. The intent is to keep the channel going after that point, so stay tuned for plenty more videos and lots of good cooks! Thank you for watching, liking, and considering subscribing.
Smoke on, y'all!

Man what a great description on the Lonestar smoker. Did not realize there was that much engineering into their smokers. Thanks for sharing.

Great job! Thanks for putting your video together so quickly. This is really helpful to me as I’m anxiously waiting for mine to arrive. I’m looking forward to what you discover next, especially with regard to the grass test!

Thanks very much for the encouragement! I am no video pro, and no BBQ pro. But I love BBQing and hope the videos are a help. Unfortunately, this week is absolutely crazy for me so it's unlikely I'll get any more vids pumped out. But I'm hoping to have some serious BBQ and video time next weekend.

Great Job, Great information, TY I just left LSG last week and met with Chris, now trying to decide between this 20' x 36 and the horizontal cabinet 24 x 30(roughly about $1200 more shipped). By now I am sure you have cooked on your 20" and was wondering how it performed and what your finished product looked like. I also need to pull over grass and will go for the 8" wheel upgrade and pull handle Thanks again

Allan DiSimone Thank you! I'd love to also have one of their cabinets one day. It was a tough choice. I do have a video posted of my first cook, so if you'd like to check that out you can see the pit in action. Thanks for warching!

Nice Smoker. I've been in the market a following LoneStarGrillz for a while. Can you please make a video of a biscuit test on it?! Thanks!

Crossflow is really interesting, in Europe we achieve the same thing with a ceramic filter, its on all small Cactus Jack Offset smoker models

Because I only have room and time for one, and I wanted the ease of an insulated vertical smoker.

I gotta say I’ve always thought LSG were top notch. I’m a bit disappointed with the 3/16 steel and the bolt on stack. Thinner steel for the same price?
@Nanook6
@Nanook6 5 жыл бұрын
No, thinner steel for significantly cheaper. Saved almost $1000 "downgrading" to the 20x42. Saved 400 lbs also.

Your presentation of smoker was fantastic, they should move you to Texas and make you the sales rep. After your video the cross flow makes sense, it's almost like reverse flow without deflector plate. Almost like direct flow. It definitely creates good looking product. How much water can you add to reservoir. Without your demonstration I thought that was similar to Miron Mixon smokers. When you went shopping for smokers did you have others under consideration. Great Presentation

Thanks very much! I really appreciate the encouragement. I couldn't move to Texas though......I love their BBQ but I can't take the heat :) I don't know for sure, but I think it would easily hold ten gallons of water, maybe a little more. I did consider buying an insulated cabinet smoker and nearly pulled the trigger on that, but then I saw a Rus Jones video reviewing his new Lone Star offset and I couldn't get it out of my head. I really wanted the challenge of mastering an offset. But I still hope to get a cabinet one day too.

Can you get this smoker without the advertisement on the stack and front lower of the cart? Don’t mind the side cut outs but the other two are like billboards.

It was a T.O.P. Pearsall. Here's a link to it. Just to be totally clear, it wasn't my first smoker, but it was my first offset. www.texasoriginalpits.com/collections/smokers-grills/products/vertical-smoker?variant=39319116749

ooo ok. Sorry for the assumption. Just wanted to see what it was to compare it to the one I have. Liking the videos I'm sure they will get even better as you do more. Also, congrats on the T-Roy cooks shout out. He is one the main people I go to as well.

I also live in Minnesota, were you able to purchase the smoker locally?
@Texas2.5
@Texas2.5 5 жыл бұрын
No, LSG doesn't have retail partners. The high end smoker companies all rely on freight carriers as far as I know. I had to ship it here from Texas. It was still shockingly reasonable for such a large and heavy item. Even with curbside delivery and liftgate service it was only $308 for shipping. If I had a way to pick it up at the terminal locally it would have only been $158.

It's hard to tell from the video but how how tall is the cook chamber?
@Texas2.5
@Texas2.5 5 жыл бұрын
I've never measured but it's gotta be close to 20" for them to be able to claim that diameter for this series of cookers. I know there is 5.5" clearance for each shelf, and more than that below the bottom shelf, so that seems about right.

Why would the darn handle be extra? How the hell do they think you're going to move it. Handles should be standard not eff'n extra!

Pushing something heavy is way easier than pulling it like a horse. I work in Rock n Rolll. And we have Pushers Not Pullers. !! But charging $25 for a handle is very Stupid It absolutely should just be on this Smoker As common courtesy one small detail that is very annoying for sure
