Cool tip with the toilet rolls but you'd probably not have to even take the curtains down, just cut a line down one side of the toilet roll and you can probably just pop them in

1. use toilet paper rolls to space curtain pleats 2. for wall pieces with nail holes on both sides, use painters tape as stencil (with a water level) 3. buy pillow inserts that are slightly too large for fluffier looking pillows 4. get large pots for plants and stuff the bottom to make plants look larger 5. use electrical tape to create window cross bars 6. use matte or eggshell finishes if you want dark paint to come out as dark as possible 7. use rechargeable lightbulbs for lamps where you don't have outlets 8. to prevent paint bleeding when using painters tape, paint a first coat in the original colour and let dry first 9. use lipstick to stamp 2 points of reference, eg a handle with 2 screws 10. create templates from eg butcher paper when making a gallery wall

@@amylaw3416 yes! Just get the coverage on trim….don’t worry about it getting on the glass ! Fresh paint peels off super easily….buy a $3blade (that comes with the handle ) at hardware store -draw a line down the edge of freshly painted trim with the blade and razor the paint off the glass in one pce. ! …it’s so gratifying.. it’s like peeling a sunburn ! Lol quick and easy , exact perfect paint lines (if it’s black and you’re worried) MUCH faster than taping windows! It’s actually better to get the paint on the glass ! and seal the crease where the wood trim meets the glass…. let it dry slightly then score a line down the edge (with a new seal made by the paint) before sliding the blade under.

Tip 8- you’re supposed to lightly wet the painters tape, let it dry, then paint. The moisture causes the tape to swell and closes up those gaps. Painting with the original color does the same thing and really isn’t necessary. Also use a very dry brush with the paint. Too watery causes seepage into the tape edge. Do a really dry brush, let it dry then use a heavier application and remove the tape immediately so it doesn’t rewet the tape. Frog type tapes aren’t meant to be painted on before lightly wetting and letting dry.

As for picture frames with a hanger on each side of the frame? I usually run a wire or strong nylon cord between each frame hanger and then hang on the wall using the wire/cord over a single centered nail. Winding a pipe cleaner around the center of the wire/cord prevents the picture frame from sliding over the nail or swinging back and forth after the frame is hung.

I worked at a place where I sold picture frames, and I learned that depends on the frame strength is the reason for the different types of hooks. Never put a wire through the two hooks on a heavy picture or mirror. That pulls the frame inwards over time and breaks it. I couldn't imagine a small child or pet walking by the heavy mirror when it finally gives.

Love the tip about using rechargeable bulbs. The batteries in most puck lights do not last long. Also love the tip about using cardboard tubes as spacers in the curtain. I would probably paint them the same color as the curtain. When it comes to using lifts inside your pots, using a tray on top or just inside the pot makes it easier to lift off the moss or whatever “soil” covering you use. If you have something useful under your plant, you’ll be much happier retrieving those items if you plan ahead. I like to just turn the planter into a table base and put a large enough tray or table top on it that I can use it like a side table. I do this by either creating a key hole for the plant or dividing the top in half with a central hole like a donut.

One of my favorite ways to hide cords dangling cords is to use a cord cover + plant. I used this with my TV cords... Command strip to attach the cord cover to the wall and paint it the same color as the wall. Then place a plant right in front of the cord cover so blend it all into the wall. I put my plant on the credenza and the top of the plant ends just below the bottom of the TV, so it completely covers the cord!

Hello Drew. I’m new to your channel but I am enjoying it so much. Thank you. I prepare my own artwork for exhibitions and it is usually a requirement to have two D hooks - one each side of an artwork, even when they are small. I take a length of nylon chord or a wire and thread it through both and tie it in a knot. When hanging just pull the chord up in the middle, making an upside down V. Measure from the top of V to top of frame to determine where to place one nail/ screw in the wall. This is great for artwork that for some reason doesn’t hang level, as you can easily adjust it. You can raise or lower the height of picture without moving the nail by hanging on single side of chord loop or by two.

The toilet paper rolls between the curtain pleats is genius! Also, who knew there were rechargeable light bulbs?! When we bought our 8 room house, we had only 5 outlets in the whole house! Of course we updated the electrical over the years, but we never have enough outlets!! Thanks for all your tips!❤️

I just had my interior painted, all the same color, so that paint tip for crisp, #8, is gold! Thanks! I'll be using that a lot. As well as Tip #1 on my new grommet curtains, my first grommet curtains ever!. And I've had a pair of lamps I bought in Germany sitting around waiting for me to rewire them, so I'll be getting those light bulbs now, too. This video was incredibly useful to me!

Love your tips! I use pool noodles cut into small pieces and stuff them in round forms to fill my over-sized pots, then it doesn't need as much moss to complete the look I want. I also use painter's tape and stretch it over the handle posts & tape it on my cabinet/drawer to use as a guide for drilling.

What syncronicity! In my decluterring this morning, I found a stash of toilet paper rolls. I thought they'd get recycled, but instead I'll use them in my curtains! I also had a collection of decorative sticks (much cuter than this description makes them sound haha) in an opaque 18" vase in my bedroom. They just didn't seem right, so I tried putting a 6" plant pot inside the vase - it fit perfectly, another bit of synchronicity! With the literal elevation, the sticks now feel cohesive because their tops are at the same level as the top of my closet door.

Hi Lone Fox!! I think the 2 picture hangars are so you can tightly install picture wire from one loop to the next so that the frame hangs straight. For instance, if you put 2 screws in the wall, about 2 inches apart, and leveled, you then hang the wire on the nails and the frame won’t slip over time and make it crooked.

For hardware with two screws: use the stamping method on a piece of scrap wood and drill the holes. This will create a really sturdy and easy-to-use template for drilling holes. You even can clamp the template down on whatever you want to put the hardware in. Super handy, especially when having to level something. This method makes it also really easy when you have a couple of drawers, you want to make sure the handles are on the exact same spot. Just make sure the wood is centered and the holes on the template are level compared to the edge of the wood.

Okay this may be a dumb question but when drilling your holes on say drawers do your drill from the outside or inside of the drawer?
@ghostebyte
@ghostebyte 2 жыл бұрын
@@amyberkheimer7996 From the Outside. It's the easiest way. Theoretically, you could drill from the inside too, but sometimes you will have problems fitting the drill inside the drawer. Plus, if you're just changing the hardware or adding some if there hasn't been some added yet, it's the easiest way to go from the outside. If you're worried about messing up your drawer front: that usually doesn't happen while drilling. When you're drilling in the drawer, the wood shouldn't crack or look fuzzy. It's a howl different story when you're cutting wood with a saw. But to avoid it getting "fuzzy" or having little pieces chip off the surface while doing so, you could actually tape the area you're cutting with painter's tape. Make your mark on top of that and saw with the tape on. Your edges should look clean and smooth. If you're really worried about drilling on the outside of your furniture, you could use the tape trick as well while drilling. I'm just not 100% sure how the drill takes it. But it should be fined.

So many great tips! I currently have toilet paper rolls on my curtains after seeing that hack and I love how they look. The plant hack was great and even though it wasn’t a part of your tip I thought it was so smart to put the paint gallons in there. What a great way to get added storage, instead of filling it with stuff you don’t need to keep. Instead of cutting up paper the size of the frames, if they are new frames, I use the inserts that already come inside. Obviously this hack only works if you’re not using thick frames.
