This was a really difficult video for me to make, but I hope that it resonates with some of you and it makes you feel a little less alone.

I’m a 26 year old guy who’s been lonely since basically the day I graduated high school, losing people you thought would be in your life forever is so hard to get over for me, some people handle it differently, but with personal failures, and losing friends I sank into a deep depression for over 3 years, I’m finally starting to get on with my personal life (exercising, working on my career) but still I think everyday “is it even worth it” since you know I’m so lonely, have no friends, family, or girlfriend to share experiences with anyway.

I can relate. I am only 21 and I have struggled to maintain any friendship I have had. Being shy and dealing with mental health issues at school didn't set me off on the best foot confidence wise when leaving school. People are very much in their own bubble and already have their routine/friendships that they are happy with. It is hard to gain the connection with someone - especially when they start to find out more about you and see you don't have any other friends. I think acceptance is key...getting angry and upset doesn't change anything. I am dealing with depression at the moment... I do find it funny that so many people around me preach about how mental health is getting worse and yet when you reach out to them about it; they don't want to know and distance themselves. Sorry to ramble on. Basically, the moral of the story is, the only person you can rely on in life is yourself. Never be ashamed of who you are and don't compare.

Keri Moses sorry it took a week for me to see this, but your comment is so spot on, I wish you the best sweetie, hopefully one day we will both heal, and be much happier people, would be pretty horrible if we are just stuck in a state of loneliness, and depression for the rest of our lives.

Mazy yea, it’s crazy, even if you don’t want it to it seems like everything changes after high school. And if you don’t go to a 4 year college it’s very difficult to find genuine friendships, and loneliness isn’t something I’d wish on anyone (maybe a few exceptions 🤣🤣) but it surely does suck

Yeah, same here. I'm 26 and I have one good friend from school but she's a doctor so it's a bit hard to go out and stuff and also she has a boyfriend, gladly that doesn't interfere with our friendship but of course, for example, in new years, she will be with him mostly and stuff, and then I only have a small group of friends but we don't see each other much. I had to cut out of my life two close friends because it became toxic, but now I'm really craving a group of friends, at least 2 or 3, with whom I could get together with and laugh for hours, or travel, or make plans for the weekend (of course not right now thanks to corona but in the near future). One of the friends I had to cut out I don't regret it at all, she was very toxic and fake, but the other one who ironically I knew for less years than the fake one, came with a group of friends which was actually really fun, and ever since we stopped talking, the group also broke up... Idk if it's my age, the pandemic, or what... But I really would love to have a small but close group of friends. :(

Hey girl, I'm totally with you. It doesn't help that I'm an introvert which makes it hard to keep up with new friendships. In the past year or two I moved and made two good friends...both moved away :( My old school friends I keep in touch with and I still consider them my good friends but it feels like they have other closer friends now... and I don't. It's hard and you're not alone!

Thanks for opening up on this video. Incredibly relatable. I’m turning 25 soon, and it’s quite difficult to meet people in person. If you say hi to someone in public, generally they are nice but then they begin to ask “what do you want?” Like it’s such a weird thing to try and socialize.

This has really touched my heart, I completely understand how you are feeling and I can relate to everything you said. My best friends are my school friends, but they have gone to university and met new friends and I didn’t. I’ve been occupied with solo travelling until now and I can’t help but feel quite lonely recently, and I am so nostalgic looking back at pictures I just cry because I want my school life back! You are not alone and I really appreciate this video so thank you! I have just followed your insta 🥰xx

I came to your channel looking up this topic and your video really hit home. I had to come to terms with school friends being just that when I got older. Making new friends sucks as an adult, honestly, because you don't have the time like when you were a kid. But it's nice to know I'm not the only one who's trying to figure life out. I know this video was hard to make, but thank you for making it!

I am 23 years old and very lonely. I wish i could have friends, especially during the pandemic. I tried looking everywhere for friends, but so far haven't found any.. I am having such bad luck finding people, even online. I tried looking for friends online and nobody even bothers with me. None of the meetup groups i've attended were fun at all. The people in these groups were very boring and rude. Same with other communities and platforms. I tried befriending various people whom I would be intrested in having as a friend, and all these people would do is act negatively towards me. Nobody in these groups were nice to me at all. Everybody was just so toxic, fake, and negative towards each other, so i left these communities and never went back to them. A lot of meetup groups online had the same exact kind of people, with toxic and fake ones, and not real people at all. Due to this, i am unable to find real people to connect with online, and left in the dust without a single friend in sight. I wish i could meet real people, but its seems impossible at this point. .

i really relate to this video and im so glad you took the time to be real and raw with your emotions. i think that you’re so right, finding friends is so difficult these days because everyone is already so content with the friends they already have. ive felt so out of place in groups that are close and plans always fall through with girls that do say they want to be friends. let’s just keep manifesting i suppose.🧡

I think personally all that happens in our lives is with a reason. Girl I’m totally with you, you aren’t lonely, you just feel lonely but that’s different than being really lonely. So my sister had been single until she was almost 29 and it was even worse because she couldn’t really find her “one and only” after several dates, but It’s cool just stay open, BELIEVE you’ll find yours you’re going to have a partner which will make you double as happy for the gap you’re experiencing/or was experiencing life is going to be much lovelier after you’ve found your partner. and I am sure you’re such a lovely woman that you’ll find your partner, even through I am a 22 year old man, and still single I can relate to you 100%. Life just has some different stages in every year or period of your life you’ll experience different kind of “problems” or even blessings, such as having a house & etc... so keep going on your video’s are awesome, your accent is lovely the Netherlands appreciates you and you’re becoming a succesful KZfaqr that’s something a lot of couples would want nowadays... 😂 anyway I’m glad I found this video thanks a lot ♥️

Just the other day I was talking to my other friends about weird time in life we are experiencing in our 20's! We definitely have jelled and bonded and formed a close friendship group; how lucky we are to have one another. Just know you're never alone! Very proud of you and all you have achieved you amazing strong lady. Love you forever x x x

I'm 26 years old and my story is quite similar. My life forced me to move from my home in Dubai for work and education. Like you, my best friends were (and remain) the ones I made at school and I'm still in regular touch with them, albeit online. They have their own lives, routines, and hang out among themselves often; i really miss them and feel left out. I made some more friends at university but had to move away from them as well. I'm in Germany now, I don't speak the local language and I'm at the loneliest point I've ever been. The pandemic has made things doubly difficult and I feel my spirit weakening everyday. I never really needed to learn how to make friends before and now as an adult, I don't know how. Everyone is so absorbed and content in their bubble, it seems like there just isn't any room for me. Your video helped to ease the pain. Thank you.

Hey, Charlotte, I'm glad you made this video! I'm 24 and I've struggled to make friends my whole life. I grew up as an only child so this has always been a worry of mine. I have had social anxiety and still experience this today, but, it has improved. In school, I had a best friend sadly that friendship ended when I was 19 and since then I had one other close friend when I was at University but we are no longer in contact. I regret not making more of an effort to make friends when I was younger and at University. Since leaving Uni, I have made friends through women's communities on Facebook. I am still seeking close friendships and I would prefer to meet people in person, but, I am working unsociable hours so it's difficult to find groups to join.

I hope everything’s well with you! It’s almost 2022 but still same ol’ situation with friends, have almost no close friends. But I guess that’s just how life is for some people, especially COVID has made it hard to interact with people as well, since we see a lot less people around and when we see people they’re wearing masks which makes it difficult to interact and make genuine connections. Anyways, stay happy and stay strong! Merry Christmas :) ❤️

I was always quite popular and even when I moved away to a new city I made loads of new friends in work that became my best friends. But then when the pandemic hit we all started working from home and I've basically been a loner ever since. My dog keeps me company now and she's my best friend. But I miss meeting up with people the odd time now. I've no idea how we make friends now when we never see other people physically.

Really relate to this right now, I’m 26 and my long term relationship ended fairly recently and I’ve been realising since that I lost contact with too many friends over the years so am feeling pretty lonely all of a suddenly. Working from home at my current job also makes forming any friendships there pretty difficult. Trying to make a big effort to meet new people but it’s not as easy in your 20s as it was in my teens.

Hey dear! I found your video as I was searching for this topic since guess what...I am lonely and depressed! As a 29yo female that always valued friendship so much, it's very disappointing to see that things and people change as they grow older. Tbh, it makes me angry as I don't understand why it has to be like that...I mean, many people just repeat that 'life is like that' but I always thought that life is how you make it and that if you want you can still find a balance to include people in your life. I also believe it's a girls thing especially when they find a partner, whereas many boys still keep in touch with each other. I don't know what to say...but I know that it's great that you and other people have started talking about it!! We are humans and there's no need to hide our feelings, so I applaud you for that 🙏 We are brave and thoughtful, so don't stop trying to meet like-minded people..there are many like us! A big hug 🤍

I am proactively try to make more friends, but thing has stuck. The few friends i do have, moved away. I try to keep myself busy with school, errand, spending time with family and my boyfriend or anything. I can tell My spirit is down. I just know if it’s me, like am i the problem? I’m going to still try to be positive and look for to great things but it’s hard. I needed to vent. Thank you for making this video and allowing people like me to express themselves.

Relating! I was supposed to graduate in 2020 however due to the pandemic we all had to stay at home and I feel like that was a turning point given that it was a new decade, new possibilities and the worlds current situation, it was also a time when I became the most out of touch with my friends. 2 years on in my early 20s and still experiencing a strange level loneliness. I got a job but I work with people who are alot older and I can't relate to their life experiences. Social media makes it so much worse because you see all these people socialising and you're just stuck at home while they're on a huge expensive holiday. I have friends but they live far away. I have no brothers and sisters, my cousins never call so it makes it so much worse.

I'm a couple of years older but have been in a very similar situation. I rented a flat by myself for several years straight after uni. Although its now been 6 years since I graduated I don't feel like I've made any new friendships. None of my friends live close by and I struggle so much to put myself out there and meet people. I moved to a new town last Sep and made a 2020 resolution to join some local social groups or fitness classes this year... Thanks corona. Anyway, thank you for sharing this and for being so honest and raw. I hope you're doing well x

Now I moved back to my parents place and I feel so out of place. It feels like nothing has changed here, but I have. I still have a lot of friends here, but I feel like the friendsips don't work anymore, because I've changed too much. They still work at the same place and stopped with school. In the meantime I worked at 7 different places and now I'm starting the end phase of my study. It is so hard to connect with them.

I never had many friends. I had 3 in high school, and they didn’t like each other. I always hung out with them one by one. I moved over the summer between 11 and 12th grade. I kept real good friends with my one best friend. 2 years ago he got into a relationship. Now we are like strangers. It’s so sad. I keep thinking about him today. I look at our old texts, which is easy to scroll to, because we barely talk now. Looking at the old messages it made me realize we are not close at all anymore. I made 0 new friends in the new state I moved to. I tried to in college, and my jobs, the friendships never held. I’ll be 25 in a couple months with no friends. It’s so sad and lonely. This is supposed to be the prime of our friendships, and I have no one to experience that with.

I stayed in community College instead of going out of the city for university and I feel like I missed out making friends when I transferred to a 4 year university for my bachelor's. I'm an introvert and I just can't deal with the fake small talk in the beginning of meeting new people so it's hard for me to find and make new friends.
