I think DTG should go back, add the missing branches to LIRR, Haarlem Line, NY Trenton, add Grand Central Madison on top and sell it as a single DLC, with all required motive power of course. If that route is good, I bet people will pay 100 USD for it. We can call it "New York Commuter"

Coming from somebody who has visited the LIRR before here is what I think DTG should have done… Because the route was made earlier in TSW’s lifetime I’m going to run with the rule that the route can’t be longer than 60 miles because that was the maximum route length at the time, because of that I think Penn Station to Ronkonkama or Penn Station to Port Jefferson would make the most sense as both of those routes are around 50 miles long, maybe keep the Hempstead and Atlantic Terminal line in because of how short those lines are, but it would likely make the route longer than a typical route for TSW1. Because the route was made in 2018 including the M9 wouldn’t make a lot of sense because they weren’t in active service at the time. The DM30AC should also be thrown in if they did the Port Jefferson line because that line is diesel only between Huntington and Port Jefferson. And lastly make the timetable actually busy. However if the route made in 2023 then the route should be Penn Station to Ronkonama, Port Jefferson and Hempstead, because longer routes are now a thing that exist. The thrid track from Floral Park to Hicksville and the brand new line to Grand Central should also be should be included. The rolling stock should be the M7, DE/DM30AC and the M9, they could maybe include the M3 but they are starting to retire them so they are becoming more and more rare as time goes on. The MP15AC is also a maybe because while yes they do already have the model from Caltrain, there likely wouldn’t be many services for it due to it being a maintaince loco. DTG could maybe do what they did with SEHS to LIRR and make the extended the route and implement all the changes that I came up with. But knowing Dovetails current quality control, I doubt that is ever going to happen. Also I should make a quick correction in your video, the West Hempstead line runs to Atlantic terminal, as far as I know I don’t think they run shuttles to valley stream, I think they might have ran those shuttles a few years ago, before the Grand Central extension was built. But as of now that isn’t the case. Excellent video by the way, you did a good job summarizing a lot of the problems that the route had.

I been playing this route a lot and I mainly drive the M3’s and M7’s and there were no diesel trains especially the cab car and the MP15AC’s another thing is that Dovetail games did put the cars on each Railroad Crossing, Honestly this Route needs to be Extended and a Major Improvements

As a Long Island native I 100% recommend the oyster bay branch as it’s one of the most scenic as well as the port Jefferson branch

tbf, each service is scheduled hourly (ie. a Ronkonkoma train departs NYP at 17:13, the next would depart NYP at 18:13) the issue is that they only have one service on the mainline, and as far as I'm aware, there is no service from Atlantic Terminal to Hempstead. This coming from someone who has been taking trains out of Atlantic Terminal for the past 2 weeks, I've only seen the Brooklyn Shuttle (Atlantic Terminal to Jamaica) and the West Hemstead Branch out of Atlantic Terminal another thing, most stops at station are that short if not shorter

Coming from someone who enjoys and rides the lirr daily this dlc really seemed rushed. The the routes were hella short

Dovetail claim the reason why the LIRR route is very desolate in game, is because the safety systems (ATC and ACSES) don't recognize too many services that run on the route in real life and for that reason the safety systems are completely inaccurate in game and would behave differently from their real life counterparts.

Even though this route was nostalgic for me, as it was the first TSW add-on i got. I can look back at the route and i would notice some glaring issues, especially the timetable issue. Good video as always btw!

How does West Hempstead not go through Jamaica?

Just to add cause i forgot to add it in; West Hempstead Branch trains during rush hours do run from West Hempstead To Atlantic Terminal so they do go through Jamaica during peak times

I can't stand the M7's sounds. Why doesn't the initial whine transition into the second whine like on Harlem Line? So you basically hear two notes at the same time, which makes these sounds worse than they were supposed to be.

Ironically… just as you were saying “depicted in the 70s and 80s” about World of Subways, the train crossed over a diamond crossover that was only added in the 2000s to make short lining the train at Queensboro Plaza easier. In the past, when the line had to be cut back due to construction, the train had to run express south of Woodside, making travel harder for anyone in the Sunnyside area. That switch allowed trains to make all local stops to/from Main Street when terminating at Queensboro.

Pfft....this line could of had much more potential. If DTG decide to do a major timetable overhaul, kinda like what they are doing with Köln-Aachen, or have it more like London Commuter, then this line's potential can be unlocked.

After seeing LIRR 2.0 soon arriving, I hope DTG fix all these bugs to make the route better

As someone who generally doesn't care about these types of simulators, seeing this all of a sudden on a humble bundle made me double take. And then as someone who *has* ridden the LIRR many times, it...god, the sounds and lack of actual traffic make this place look AI generated. Like I can see it, I can recognize it, it's just...VERY uncanny.

Yea Dovetail did a horrendous job on this route...train traffic was dead, then the timetables were terrible. How do you have more service on Hempstead line, when then( pre GCM opening), didnt operate to Penn except rush hours. All Dovetail did was false advertise bout the "busiest" railroad. Regardless other millions of errors, Dovetail gets a "F" for major fail lol

My ex favorite add-on, man I rlly wish it got more attention instead of this crap, at least with Harlem Line it's Linear yes, but there is variation and reasonable gaps between services as there is irl. Credit where is due the M7 and M3 are a blast to drive, but it's such a shame how big of a waste this route was.. It was one of the better routes during the TSW 2020 Era and even a bit into the TSW 2 ERA until Harlem Line overshadowed it... I still like to drive the route from time to time cause the Hempstead branch is one of my favorite routes in the entire network. There has been a major uproar on the forums calling for an entire LIRR overhaul, but I'm not even sure if DTG will. On a side note tho, you were 100% right abt Midland Mainline, anyway I look forward to your future reviews

Good review. I am dissapointed in the LIRR add on. I'm from Long Island, and my father worked 30 years on the LIRR as a conductor. I really wish they had the Babylon line and others, also beef up the scenery. Anyway I hope the next iteration is more detailed. I only play the sim for the LIRR, I don't care much about the freight and what not.

Didnt dtg say that they couldnt find much info on the diesel locomotives of the LIRR lol? Just baloney of excuses. anyways, so many errors of this dlcs starting with the garbage timetable (also DTG giving a crap of an excuse of this goofy timetable). They shouldve created the entire Hungtington/Port Washington/Ronkonkoma(even if cut back to Farmingdale just in case), and extra trains between Penn Station/Atlantic Terminal to/from Jamaica(for Bbaylon/Far Rockaway/Long Beach and btw there were few West Hempstead trains pre GCM that operated to/from Atlantic Term on rush hours}...and lets not forget DTG advertised it as Ronkonkoma trains but left Hicksville on the Port Jefferson branch. MAJOR FAIL lmao.

Just to let you know the west Hempstead branch now has hourly service to Atlantic terminal Brooklyn and Hempstead trains run to Grand Central off-peak as of February 27th with east-side access being opened

So basically, without considering pricing, Niddertalbahn is the only really good route for TSW?

Please help! Is it true if you already own this DLC in Train Sim World, you can also use it in in Train Sim World 2 and 3? Just trying to research before jumping into buying a new game only to find out I need to re-purchase anything.

I live in Brooklyn and not far from the LIRR Atlantic branch and the way they did Atlantic Ave was inaccurate. The street was too wide, and the structure is elevated. Theres no ballast on the elevated section from Nostrand Ave to Ralph Ave. They shouldve had the line extended to Ronkonkoma and included the Oyster Bay, Far Rockaway, Babylon and West Hempstead.

Why Lord Why 🤦🏾‍♂️. Seriously, they need to redo this route and either bring it to Babylon or Ronkonkoma.

I always thought they held the doors a little too long in the game. They only stay open that long at stations like Jamaica

I would really love another subway route for tsw3. They worked with New York MTA, Boston MBTA and London Underground. So I think it’s possible.

As a person who uses the lirr Hempstead branch quite often in real life, this route is a disgrace. The scenery is so inaccurate basically everywhere. The route is so empty that it should be referred to as Track Sim World since you hardly see trains. What I find most baffling is that the TSC version of the route looks miles better than the TSW version. This route needs a complete overhaul because it's not worth the purchase due to how bad it is in so many areas The high pitch whine on the m7 when accelerating sounds very bad compared to real life and worse than the m7a in game. Also, the lirr m7's physics are more realistic that the M7A's as the m7a accelerates way to fast compared to real life. The lirr m7's acceleration is more realistic The reason why the lirr has in cab singals is the same reason the Metro North Railroad has them. Trains will run in a block so to speak and the signal speed will change if you are close to a train ahead as the lirr doesn't have physical singals everywhere. I do agree with most points you made. I really hope as a new yorker, that DTG don't make a NYC subway route as they will find some way to make a terrible rendition of a subway line. I hope something can be done to improve this route but I doubt DTG would ever give this route the love it deserves. Ironically, there has been a small preservation crew patch that has been on the roadmap for over a year and there hasn't been any news on what the small update has. Typical DTG

The train traffic should look like London commuters! The Scenario planner is need the ability for unlimited services for a scenario. Also the car models are garbage. TramSim has decent car models. Oh yeah, and car traffic

this is prob gonna come off the wrong way but you should def ride LIRR in real life instead of using the internet and a game as a basis for opinions, some of the things you stayed was just flat out wrong or made no sense
