@@Barnes-ml9wg This is a great point. Personally I don't have a wife so it's a non issue, but any woman I may be involved with in the future will have to accept that I will be making my own decisions. I will take her opinion on board, but it will remain my decision when it comes to my money, or anything else. I know men who got the clot shot because their wife made them do it, even though they didn't want to. For me that would be grounds for divorce. My money my choice, and certainly my body my choice.

My wife started out 10 years ago fairly ambivalent about guns and shooting. Wasn't against it just wasn't up for going to the range. Fast forward 10 years, and she is now competing with me in 2gun, IDPA, PRS, and even defensive pistol/rifle classes. It all began with her curiosity after watch vids of me shooting in competition and saying "I can do that!!". My response was "Yes you can". Then I had someone else teach her initially so she was learning without my bias or intrusion. Game changing for us, and we have a blast. We compete monthly, and shoot weekly. It's fun to watch her grow and enjoy shooting sports! Hope Emily gets the bug too!

Pretty good informative and instructional video when you can get a relatively non shooter, in this case your wife Emily, to achieve the group size shown, with virtually her first ever group attempt and to then go on to a very near miss at 1000 yards is a tribute to the inherent accuracy of that particular rifle, ammo combination, allied to her obvious natural ability. Before you adjust parallax you need to adjust the focus for your eye. So many shooters I help learn to shoot long range do not know that step or forget it. If your focus on the magnification lense where you are looking into is not adjusted correctly for your eye sight specially your parallax will not truly be correct. Also after focus is adjusted, before tuning your parallax knob you should turn the parallax knob to max and bring it from max right to where your reticle stops for you careful not to go past that point or you need to max out again and bring it back. This is done to take the lash out of parallax of cheaper scopes like Arken

In my experience, women tend to be very good shooters. They're patient, thoughtful, don't have an ego to overcome, and are good listeners/learners. I bet if you did that same challenge with a man who's never (or very rarely) shot before, you might eventually end up with similar results, but it would be more difficult to get there. Great video!

This is dumb. Are you trying to get over (some) women's insecurities about shooting for them or your own misogyny/misandry? What is the exact right amount of patience required to shoot well? Exactly how much ego is too much? If I'd said "Leftie shooters are more patient, thoughtful, and less ego driven and that makes them good shooters. I bet if you did that same challenge with a rightie, you might eventually end up with similar results, but it would be more difficult." Would you be thinking I'm crazy, trying to figure out why I'm defending lefties and putting down righties or both?

Thank you for the video. I don't currently have a range where I can shoot 1000 yds, but I am hoping someday. I knew many of the things you discussed, but it really helped to remind me of some things I need to, such as building profiles in my Kestrel app. I am fortunate to have a MagentoSpeed Chronograph. You mentioned in your video that the velocities listed on the box are usually faster than "actual" velocity from an individual gun. Personally, I have found if my gun has a barrel equal to or longer than the barrel used by the manufacturer then my velocities have all been faster. Usually not more than just a few feet, but still faster. If the barrel is shorter my velocities have been slower. In some cases as much as 200 fps slower with a barrel just 2 inches shorter. Again, thank you for the video. Excellent information.

@InWithBothFeet 7 ай бұрын

@@InWithBothFeet I completely agree with you. Personally, if they are going to go with a single generic barrel length I think it should be 20 inches. Most hunting rifles are not 24”, let alone the AR style or lever guns.

Wow, you're the 5th person to recognize this as Warner Valley on this video! I shoot videos there all the time and nobody mentions it. Must have a lot of locals watching this one. @@backfire Thanks for the info! I will be looking at both of those a bit. I quite enjoy your videos so keep them coming. I'm looking for a good place for 1k yd shooting. I know a few people that go either west over Utah Hill or South out on River road due to the popularity of Warner Valley. I used to go out there and shoot my dev loads but there are private areas that are tricky to navigate. I've been yelled at for being in areas out there when I didn't know I was on private land (it is unmarked and unfenced for the most part). Great video and now I'm interested in a top-mounted bipod. I have a CKYE pod, but I also try to shoot off my pack without a bipod as much as possible since I will always have a pack, but my not always have or want to carry a bipod. Before there were all these apps I wrote a 6-DOF (degrees of freedom) script in Matlab as part of an Ammunition Engineering course I was teaching. I've compared it with the Hornady app and 4-DOF is plenty accurate. They aren't necessarily inputting any extra data, just using more variables so it's computationally more expensive (more time and computing power required), which isn't really an issue on todays phones, but was a big deal on older computers, including supercomputers. Most sets of equations will be truncated for higher order terms and become approximations of the actual set of coupled equations, but even that is not necessary with modern computers. It may take a few minutes but a standard desktop computer can create a range table based on full-blown numerical modelling in a few minutes.

I like the fact that you are rocking a Bergara. For a reasonably priced rifle, they are great for long range. My next bolt action will be a Bergara chambered in .300 WinMag. Personally, I think it is the definitive "bang for your buck" bolt gun. I'm stuck on the scope though. Experimentally(and not well tested) cheap optic V trial proven(and very expensive, probably more than the rifle) scope. I'm sure that I will end up spending $1200 on the rifle and $3000 on the glass. Because the scope makes the difference at 1000 meters.

Regarding shooting positions, what I've noticed is LOP importance. In the proper prone position, lined up as you both were, the LOP/eye relief is substantially longer vs when you would be shooting off hand. Eye relief changes dramatically. If you hold your hunting, while standing, as though you were stalking and just jumped a deer at 50 yards, your body is NOT square with the direction you aim. Your rifle is nearly parallel to your shoulder to shoulder position as though you are just about aiming to your right or left. Change that back to the prone position and now you've just increased LOP and thus, extended your eye relief. Every time I get a rifle built and request a 12.5" LOP I'm told, "that's short." Well it is. But that is the only way I can see out of the scope at full magnification when I'm lined up straight behind the rifle. I've never found or tested any ring mounts that can shorten eye relief while maintaining a stock with a standard LOP of 13 to 13.5 inches. And most all of my shots are while prone

Depends on how he gets down. A lot of folks would say the same about my girl, but she isn't going anywhere. We been through that, she decided men in general aren't capable. I'd say it's a humble brag, but it's not. She came back two years later and told me I ruined sex for her, and we got back together. Maybe he's got the skills to pay the bills. Who knows?

One thing I've run across over and over is to NOT have any support on the rifle barrel itself. You say the flexible forearm causes problems itself, so you need to address both problems. It Will throw off your grouping. You can group, but not as tight and you will get (close) flyers. See your groups and the flyer. Support it on the stock forearm. See other KZfaq Vids on the subject.

Would you recommend the Sig Cross or the Bergara B-14 HMR for an all around hunting/long range precision rifle (6.5 Creedmoor)?

DOA shooting benches are awesome! Why not get one for shooting. The guy that sells them is a mile away from your house. Love mine I got the big one so a 50 bmg fits on it.

That picture that you added from the SWAT TV show, I'm like 95% sure the guy with the massive height over bore has a break barrel air rifle!😂

Love your content!! Hight above bore doesn't matter.. most of the time... the higher the scope is from bore, the more rifle cant will effect the POI shift.. a bubble will fix that, but most hunters I know don't run a bubble on their rifle..

The style of shooting bag is one thing, the filling in it is what really makes or breaks it. What do you use as shooting bag filler?
