I have a 2022 Model Y LR, which will be two years old in June and has covered 36,000 miles. Tesla's mobile service recently conducted a tire rotation for me, and there's still approximately 5/32 inches of tread left on the tires. I intend to replace them in the fall. I must admit, I'm completely captivated by this car, every time I step inside, it brings a smile to my face

You managed a lot better on your tyres than I did, mine were ready to replace at 18,000 miles

Do you drive it like you stole it or pretty balanced? I literally got a screw in one of my new rear tyres like a couple of days after this was edited and before the video went live 😭

@@AdamWellinformed I would describe my driving style as 'spirited' so probably a 7/10, it costs me 80p in electricity to do the 40 mile round trip to work and the cost in tyre wear is 88p :D I'll try chill mode for a while.

@@neopickaze Watching the Tesla Plaid channel, he is done around 22,000 miles and over 900 1/4 mile launches on the drag strip running around 9.25 seconds and is still using the original 3 year old tyres. Also says they have half their tread left. Not sure what you are doing, abrasive roads, braking too hard, low tyre pressures.
@neopickaze
@neopickaze 27 күн бұрын
@@GDM22 not sure, I do know the tyre pressures were consistently at 42 at ambient and most braking is regenerative. I replaced all 4 earlier than the legal limit when the rears were at 2.0mm - I am very cautious when it comes to tyres. I'm hoping the replacements last longer and perhaps the tyres I had were an anomaly but it seems to be common on forums and user groups that tyres get replaced around the 20-30k mark

@@neopickaze I know people in the UK go through motorbike tyres very quickly, roads must be very abrasive. Also I run my Model 3 at 46 PSI, the roads are good where I live and I always err on a firmer ride with my cars and bikes.

Great video. How many miles did you do on the original tyres? Did you rotate the tyres? Do you drive in chill mode, I do? My M3 RWD is 26 months old and done 13250 . Thinking I should be rotating tyres. What’s the filter that needs changing? Sorry for all the questions.
@AdamWellinformed
@AdamWellinformed 29 күн бұрын
Appreciate your comment! So no rotations, rears went first and they lasted over 20k. Fronts will need changing before end of the year and they will surpass 30k on its way. In the UK we don’t really rotate tyres. As we generally buy tyres in pairs, with rwd driven cars I’d expect the rears to go first and then the fronts to follow. Just means that all four tyres don’t go at the same time so not a huge expense when they need replacing. That filter is probably the cabin filter, it can be done from home. Have to pop some of the interior off to get it swapped but it’s do-able. Though I will probably get someone else do it next time as it was out of my comfort zone to do it, but I did it successfully 👍

I enjoyed your M3 long-term review for this reason - I’m trying to decide if I should buy or lease the M3P I ordered last week. My thoughts are if this 2024 M3P ends up being a fun, reliable, practical, & safe car, then I plan on keeping it for many, many yrs. And In that case, I’d just buy it. Any additional thoughts? Also, what’s the deal with the full autopilot? Do many Tesla owners pay the $$$ to get full self-driving feature? A friend, who owns a Model Y, told me to not even think about FSD as I can always add it later.
@ftb2772
@ftb2772 29 күн бұрын
In the states they have made fsd available to all as a $99 subscription so i dont think fsd is worth it especially as it stays with the car. If you dish out the £6500 and the sell the car you lose access to the software. Might as well wait till you can sub in future. Ive been playing with the standard autopilot on my tm3 sr+ its really good apart from phantom breaking but im starting to work out the kinks. I was in a huge stop start traffic queue earlier, put in autopilot and worked a treat. Other than nudge the steering wheel a few times when prompted the car did the rest took out the minor frustration of situation.
@AdamWellinformed
@AdamWellinformed 29 күн бұрын
I’d have to agree with FTB here, can start with the free Autopilot and add FSD via the $99 monthly subscription if you’re ready for that jump up. Especially if you end up leasing it 🤔

Does anyone know why front tires wear out so much faster on Model 3? I mean it's RWD, and I expect the distribution of weight to be 50-50, so they should wear pretty evenly

Tell you one thing I'm sick of - white Tesla's. I think 8/10 Tesla's must come of the production line in white, because Tesla charge a ton for any other color. I also think 8/10 Tesla's total are probably company cars.
