The OTA updates provided by Tesla are certainly game changers, arguably revolutionary, in the industry. I purchased my ‘21 M3 SR+ online (!), and the car was delivered to my house after waiting just a couple weeks. That entire purchase/delivery experience: mind blowing! It took, in total, about one hour of my time - not the entire day-long battle involved in going to a dealership to buy a car. And then, lo and behold, came the OTA updates. Over the 3+ years I’ve had the car I’ve lost count. The latest one was yesterday, for minor fixes. Hey, I’m happy to get those as well as the big ones. They’ve all added up to a car that is vastly improved in so many ways: safety features, driving experience, and entertainment! I’ve heard the supposedly derisive comment re: Teslas, that they are “iPads on wheels.” My response is, “And…? What’s your point?” That’s a huge advantage in my opinion. I live in the 21st century last time I checked! Good video as always, Adam!

I recently took my M3LR Refresh on an approximately 850-mile round trip for the first time, and I am impressed with its performance. What I particularly liked was that I only had to stop once for charging between destinations. If you prioritize range and comfort, I would recommend the LR over the performance model. The performance wheel is not as comfortable as the LR, but for a more stylish look and a more enjoyable driving experience, the performance model would be the better choice.

Unless you're absolutely needing the new car now, I would wait. I've driven the new model 3 (highland) back to back with the old model 3. It's quite lovely and a noticeable improvement on the old model 3, but IMO, it's not worth upgrading just for the new features unless you can get a great deal. While great, the Highland is still a model 3, it's not a Rolls Royce or a German / Japanese luxury brand. I've also driven the 2024 model Y, which is great. Not as good as the highland, but by far the best Y I've been in. Again, while Tesla is blowing out inventory of the existing Ys, they're only going to get cheaper when the Juniper model is released. That might really be the best time to get one. That should also in theory depress the price of the 3 Highland a bit. Remember that all Autopilot / FSD software is still based around Hardware 3 (HW 4 cars run in emulation), so a hardware 4 car offers no advantage at the current moment except for the better camera images on the center screen. If you can have patience and wait another year and live with your existing 3, that's what I would do.

Most reviewers predominantly focus on range as the primary different between SR and LR but this somewhat misses the point. Yes, the LR has longer range but it is a considerably quicker car. If you did a similar comparison with an ICE care with two different size engines, not only would the larger engine be quicker but it would typically have SHORTER range!

I enjoyed your M3 long-term review for this reason - I’m trying to decide if I should buy or lease the M3P I ordered last week. My thoughts are if this 2024 M3P ends up being a fun, reliable, practical, & safe car, then I plan on keeping it for many, many yrs. And In that case, I’d just buy it. Any additional thoughts? Also, what’s the deal with the full autopilot? Do many Tesla owners pay the $$$ to get full self-driving feature? A friend, who owns a Model Y, told me to not even think about FSD as I can always add it later.
@ftb2772
@ftb2772 14 күн бұрын
In the states they have made fsd available to all as a $99 subscription so i dont think fsd is worth it especially as it stays with the car. If you dish out the £6500 and the sell the car you lose access to the software. Might as well wait till you can sub in future. Ive been playing with the standard autopilot on my tm3 sr+ its really good apart from phantom breaking but im starting to work out the kinks. I was in a huge stop start traffic queue earlier, put in autopilot and worked a treat. Other than nudge the steering wheel a few times when prompted the car did the rest took out the minor frustration of situation.

Great video. How many miles did you do on the original tyres? Did you rotate the tyres? Do you drive in chill mode, I do? My M3 RWD is 26 months old and done 13250 . Thinking I should be rotating tyres. What’s the filter that needs changing? Sorry for all the questions.
@AdamWellinformed
@AdamWellinformed 14 күн бұрын
Appreciate your comment! So no rotations, rears went first and they lasted over 20k. Fronts will need changing before end of the year and they will surpass 30k on its way. In the UK we don’t really rotate tyres. As we generally buy tyres in pairs, with rwd driven cars I’d expect the rears to go first and then the fronts to follow. Just means that all four tyres don’t go at the same time so not a huge expense when they need replacing. That filter is probably the cabin filter, it can be done from home. Have to pop some of the interior off to get it swapped but it’s do-able. Though I will probably get someone else do it next time as it was out of my comfort zone to do it, but I did it successfully 👍

Half the features shipped disabled or broken like wipers. Matrix should have been day 1. The increased range and power was held back. These are not things you get free these you paid for but didn’t get. Day 1. Waze has speed cameras on bmw free plus android auto and car play. My self driving bmw system does speed limits but Tesla wants £3500 for it. Tesla has fake leather. Then wants £1100 for white fake leather. BMW doesn’t charge for coloured leather. My bmw also doesn’t need £1000 of new suspension bushings and doesn’t rust like suspension on the model 3. The auto wipers actually work. High beam assistance is included in the tech pack on bmw. Larger wheels are included in standard. £50k bmw would never come with 18’’ wheels with ugly plastic caps. Nor do they want £2000 for paint colours. Flat black should not cost £1400 either it’s not even metallic 😂 the Tesla doesn’t come with adjustable seat bolsters or thigh support either. You can’t add that via software. In the tech pack you also get a HUD Tesla doesn’t even give you a binnacle you can’t even add a HUD which is better than that ugly screen you get. No indicator stalks now. No easy way to use high beam and no gear selector. The car is £50k and basically comes missing basic features that come standard on cars half its value. Only reason to consider a Tesla is running costs are lower but then the depreciation is rubbish. The LR M3 only holds 22k of its £50k price after 40k and 4 years. That is total rubbish. Losing 30k on a car isn’t cheap. Wipes out all the fuel savings. A fast BMW such as a M340 or M3 doesn’t lose anywhere near that which means you fuel is essentially free. The second hand EV market will be a car crash due to all the cheap leases coming to an end over next few years. It’s already started.
