In the netherlands we have a normal card game similar to uno, kinda like crazy eights, where all the special cards have a rhyme that explains what they do, but literally EVERYONE had his own ruleset. Sometimes it's as if people are making up rhymes on the spot. We always need to establish the rules beforehand so no arguments breaks out

This is how I played with my friend in college we found like “extra rules and just put them all together “ to make the ultimate uno. We played it the way Griffy played but also we could play two cards that added up to the total of the card face up. It was one of the extra house rules.

This reminds me of my friend who I used to play palace with back in 5th grade. We played as such: Power cards: 2->you can place another card after placing the 2 10->blows up the pile and discards everything there 7->place a number lower than 7 or another power card 9->beat the card underneath the 9 Bro would proceed to put something like jack, 2, 7, 2, 3, which makes absolutely no sense because that's not how the 2 card works. The 2 card has to be placed before you can place another card on top of it. It doesn't work backwards. If you place a card that's not a 2, you cannot place a 2 on top of said card in the same turn.

I’d lowkey wanna play with those rules to see how crazy the game gets. Putting a reverse on top of a draw to makes the other person have to draw. Or placing a skip on the draw to so it now goes to the next person😂😂 them the party rules now😭🤣

This is how we played 20 years ago when I was a kid: skip card: it can stop the + cards with the same color as the last one plus card: if you put additional +cards on top of the +cards then the next person has to draw all of the previous +cards, but if it's a plus 4 then after they ask for color and you have +2 card in that color then you can pass it to the next person. But if you don't have the same color then you need to draw or use other save cards in the asked color. You can also put down any amount of + cards, so if it stacks up and the next person can't deflect it, he might have to pull like 30 cards or more. reverse card: if you put it on +card then the previous person has to pull the extra cards unless if he also has something to change it zero(0) card: everyone must slap the card as fast as they can. The last person doing it will have to draw 1 less card as the total players left in game. regular cards: you can put down any with the same number. Putting down any amount of reverse card will still redirect it to the previous person. Putting down multiple skip cards wont do anything it's just a one time save card even then. Honestly it's much better then with the official rules.

Actually some of these rules might be fun like the placing a reverse card on top of a draw 2 or 4 card so as to make those card riskier to play. It would add more strategy of when to play your draw cards because they're no longer completely safe, imagine playing against another person and in their mind they are about to make you eat 4 cards but little do they know you have a reverse card so when they play their draw 4 card you play your reserve card and they draw 4 instead, their card backfired on them and hurt them instead. It would also make the a instant win situation less guaranteed like if only 2 people are left and 1 player can go for game because they have a draw card and regular, if this rule was implemented the win wouldn't be guaranteed since if the other player had a reverse card and played it after the draw card they player that was originally going to go for game nows screws themselves over. Of course the reverse card would still have to match the color, player shouldn't be able to play any color reverse card so the reverse card strategy wouldn't always work, in fact it would be statically unlikely but that's the beauty in it, when it does happen it would be hype as hell, the player using that strategy would either have to be extremely lucky or cunning since they would've been setting that up for awhile. I honestly want to play with that rule now.

We played with matching numbers and colors can go all at once, games wouldn't last past the first round. Rule was you can drop all your green numbered cards for example finish with a green 2, then switch to a red 2 and drop all your red numbered cards.

I played Risk the wrong way for years without knowing. Apparently my brother made up rules to save his own behind and in next games we went along those rules! I found out when I suggested playing Risk with a bunch of new friends and I ended up arguing with them about the rules.. ending up looking like a fool after reading the rulesbook!

Some rules we play: - you can put a card over the wild when you play it - someone else can call the color if you don't when you play wild or draw 4 - you can put draw 2 over draw 4 if it's the same color

In Poland we play "Makao" with regular cards but it's virtually the same. You have to get rid of cards, there are +3s, +2s, +5s, turn skips and everybody and their dog plays by different rules. And ocassionally if you lose you get beaten on the forearm with a deck of cards. We would even draw to see how many hits you get, black was hard, red was medium (also hard).

If someone says "Uno" and you say "Dos, Tres" they have to draw two cards and if they draw a +2 card they have to reveal it and draw two more cards until they don't draw a +2 card. If they draw a reverse card they can play it and instead replace all the cards they drew back into the deck and shuffle it. Then they draw the top card and the players have to call it. If they call correctly the player draws two cards and that card is added to their hand. If they call incorrectly the player puts the card back at the bottom of the deck. But if you're playing Tango mode then...

My family plays with “cut throat” rules. You can stack the +2 like Griff was doing, but if you have a skip of the same color, you can skip it to the next person OR you can play a reverse of the same color and reverse it back on the person who hit you with the +2. You can also stack +4s. The person has to call out a color and if the next person has a reverse/skip of the same color, same effect applies. The salt this generates sometimes is just too good.
