I feel like long-boarding and girls skateboarding is so underrated mostly when people think about skateboarding they think of a bunch of boys doing tricks and on ramps but it’s so much more to it

I have mad respect for them to that lol. I was longboarding today and my push off was too far while I was already going pretty fast; the board fell from under me and I went backwards. I slammed my upper back against the asphalt and winded myself so bad that I couldn’t breathe for a good thirty seconds and my eyes were rolling back. The pain was so bad it was mostly numbness lol. I was good once I was able to breathe but I know it’s gonna hit bad tomorrow lol. So much respect to them for risking injuries both like that and worse than that and coming out with this skill set.

As a reminder for everyone watching this, you have to get good at riding FIRST. You DO NOT try dancing when you're brand new on a longboard, you have almost no balance and haven't trained your core, hips, glutes, calves, or feet muscles (literally) to be able to keep you balanced yet (already being athletic helps but that only takes you so far as it is its own discipline or "sport" in a sense). Learn to ride comfortably, then foot-brake, then carve, then ride with only one leg (for like 15 secs straight), and then you can start beginning to try steps. And there are how-to videos on KZfaq for a reason, don't try to just wing this stuff, the people in those videos know what they're talking about. And get a helmet. Doesn't matter if you look "lame", your health is more important (I put skate and brand stickers on mine to personalize it). Elbow pads will help too in case you fall back, as well as wrist guards, but they aren't quite as important (and though I have knee pads, I've never fallen on my knees). Learning how to fall and roll would be good too. Dancing is an advanced longboarding skill, I would say wait 2-3 months before you start attempting dancing (in the meantime learning and solidifying the skills I mentioned above) and that's assuming you're riding at least 3 times a week. And take it slow. Be safe, guys.

My longboard is coming tomorrow! I can’t wait to start learning! Edit : I now have 3 longboards, I can bomb hills and ride pretty much everywhere. Plan on learning dancing soon.

@@FEBRIZIOtv About a year, but it also depends a lot on how much you practice. When I started out, I road every single day for at least thirty minutes mastering specific hills, turning, etc. when summer came I stopped because it’s way to hot for me to practice. Although I’m a decent rider, this isn’t to say I can ride down a mountain at 50mph. However after around 6 months your cruising should be pretty solid, and by the time a year rolls by you can cruise and carve pretty well.

@@viragszabo7711 I haven’t skate for a while since it’s winter season, but I still trying to balance and trying to be comfortable skating goofy and regular. The first step I learned is the 180 step. Im not good yet but im trying to perfect it first before I move on to learn another one. So far it’s been fun, haven’t injured my self when doing the trick (yet) lol. but still gotta ready my self to fall cu’z ik it’ll come.

Longboards help you get better at normal popsicle skateboards. It trains the exact tricks and muscle balance but only difference is a wider stable base that you have.

I hate people who think longboarding is easy, sure riding a longboard is easy, IF your just cruising on the street, same with skateboarding. But if your bombing hills at 70kph or longboard dancing, it’s harder than it looks

@@mooseking7545 They mean the Primarily skate boarding anime called Sk8 the infinity. One character (though im not sure if it is supposed to be a skate or long board) dances on his board, this is one of the few videos I could find with a real life example of it and i find it really cool. There are a few characters who use longboards or fusions of skate and long board in the anime.
