Buddy trust me , don’t sweat the aluminum trans . The manual needs the cast iron because of the countershafts main shaft bearings and gear etc. you can break any piece of equipment if you do t use it properly , that housing on the Hydra stat trans is way way stronger than you will ever need it to be .. one of my John Deere’s is a 1992 332 diesel yanmar engine , and i have pulled a 3 bottom plow with it in virgin ground , loader work , mow and plow my 180 foot driveway with a 52” blade . And my trans is aluminum and i have done “Zero” repairs on that machine in 20 years , except changing fluids filters and a couple of hydraulic hoses on the 52” blade . No leaks anywhere . I own 3 John Deere tractors with all the same result . I have a 1984 317 i use for landscaping and mowing around the house , again never a repair needed .. and one more thing to let you know what kind of company they are,during the great depression john deere sent notices to every single owner of a john deere tractor that they need not worry about making payments on their tractors because regardless of the size of the machine ,private or a farm they knew people were using them to feed their families and the family’s of their town . They told them they would get back in touch with them when things got better and “Did Not” reposes one single tractor and kept their word .. this is a matter of record , that is who john deere is , and that is a company worth supporting. Just my opinion , i thought i’d share that story with you.. they are a great American company with deep roots in supporting community’s for a hundred years ..👍 oh one last thong that was in 1931 and the story is actually on JD History website if ya wanted to look it up.👍

I have owned a JD770 for 30+ years. Gear drive. I do a good share of my work @1200-1500 rpm (except for tilling and brush hogging) I've noticed on KZfaq that most owners of hydro drive tractors are running theirs at near max RPMs. So after 30 years my tractor engine has a lot less wear on the engine. (i have about 1200 hours on it currently - still running like the day I bought it.) My own belief is that the Hydros rob the engine of maybe 2-4 hp. I noticed a guy on youtube pulling a box blade and having to go to LOW to make it up a small driveway hill. My tractor would probably only need a few more RPM's. I don't recall ever thinking I needed more hp for my 5 acres. If I was looking for a replacement tractor today I would be considering the JD 3025D as one of my choices. Anyway that's my two cents worth. Good luck in your decision.

I bought a new 3025D, I love it! I have a Kubota and it’s been tough. But like you the JD dealership is in my local town and it just makes life easier if something needs done. I like the cast iron rear end and transmission in the D model. I mow fields with mine mostly, and use a bush hog. The gear drive works well for me!

I bought a J.d.3025e in 2018. If I had it to do over again I would go with the D series. This wasn't an option in March of 2018. Had i waited until the Fall I could've gotten the D. I don't like the squall of the hydrostatic. Another thing, I can't pick up a drum of diesel fuel with the front loader. 55 gallons of diesel weighs less than 500#s my loader won't pick it off the ground. I'd love to have a D. And like you I live in West Virginia and John Deere is everywhere. They make good machines. Wish you all the best in which ever you go with.

i own a 3046R and it's been a great machine. easy to do service work on, as well. get the telescopic 3 pt hitch arms, they are worth every penny. my vote would be for the R series, in any given HP size, as you want this to be forever tractor, and the R line is better suited to that, IMHO. more options and more ability to add on things down the road. the E, D, and other series are made to compete on price with the other brands, plain and simple; they match up to the more basic competition out there, feature and price wise.

OFFRD, Great video buddy. I have a 35 year old 950 with a Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel, starts up every time. I did my homework and just bought a JD 3052D and love it. I have the 5 ft. Frontier RC2060 rotary cutter and box blade. The gear drive does not slow me down when using the bucket, since I am accustom to the Std. transmission. The 3035D tractor is a great value since I don't need all the 'bells & whistles', but a 3rd range would be nice, but not worth the additional expense, Your mileage may vary. All the best, CrP

Like you said the Dealer location was a major factor when purchasing our 3025E, decided on the E because its easier for the wife to operate , she jumps on that thing and will shred roads and senderos (Shooting Lanes) all day at the ranch she is even getting pretty good with the loader. She wanted a riding mower to clean up around the ponds so we got her an S240 and will probably end up with a Gator by next year if not sooner.....Nothing Runs Like a Deere.....

I have had both the 3032E and 3033R. Now this was before the E's could have a backhoe, so I traded to the 3033R so I could get a backhoe. The weight difference of the tractor itself was surprising. In the 3032E, I personally found that when I was trying to pull logs and the like, I was much more likely to just have the wheels spin on the dirt. That being said, now that I had the 3033R I find I have the other problem that when I get my box blade full of dirt the tractor runs out of power and gets close to stalling out. As such I am currently moving to a 3046R. On other thing that you would want to look at is SCV. On my first tractor, I was like, I don't needs those. When I got my second one, there was a mistake, and the 4th and 5th was included on the tractor so I was able to use top and tilt. That was a game changer being able to move my three point at anytime without needing to get of the seat. Lastly, with my newest tractor, I have personally learned that I need the 3 SCV for the grapple and ordered it with that. I know we all say, well I can add it on later, but that never happens. One needs to get the options you might need or you will just end up spending more money later getting what you should have gotten.

@@perry4969 For me, I could feel the difference in the power to the loader and the weight of the tractor on the ground. For my use case the tractor primary task is to move dirt with the loader and maintain my dirt road and between the 3032e and 3033r the weight difference of almost 600 lb (or about 20% heavier) made a fair number of tasks easier. It was not like I could not get it done with the 3032e, however the amount of time needed to get the work done was lowered. Maybe the best example would be when I am maintaining the road with a box blade. In the 3032e when I would fill up the box blade, my wheels would just spin and I would not be able to go anywhere. I would need to watch how much dirt I was putting into the box and make sure I did not overfill it. This was with water in the wheels and putting concrete blocks in the loader to try to keep it well planted. I also got a ballast box to help as with the loader, I would get very light on the back wheels In the 3033r, I could fill up the box and keep moving, however only if I was in the lowest gear and almost crawling at that. If I tried to move forward any faster, I would stall out the engine. Now that I have the 3046R, I can fill up the box blade, pull it down the road at max speed in low. When I am using a land plane, I can use mid gear and just zip down the road. I can pull a 100ft pine tree to the burn pile where before I would have had to cut it at least in half. While it "should" not have any more power as the hydraulics are the same, the backhoe feels stronger in the 3046r and I can rip through roots that I had to fight with in the 3033r I guess at the end of the day if your primary job is moving heavy objects around, you want to get as much weight in the tractor and as much horsepower as you can reasonability get. Part of the reason I kept hopping up a grade of tractor is while I could get the job done in the current one, I was tired of how much I needed break the job into smaller tasks to get it done. I was able to clear out the land for my garage with the 3032e and it took me a few weekends to do it and get the stumps out of the ground. Now that I am working on another area about the same size for a solar array, I am able to get the job done in a day.

Glad to see you looked at the Deere tractors, in my experience you cannot beat their dealer network and support. You didnt mention in the video, but I believe the 3033r uses DEF which you wanted to avoid. That being said I have a 3320, basically the prior version of the 3033r. It has been fantastic. Mine is an ehydro trans, no problems so far at 900 hours of mowing, loader work, tilling with 5ft tiller, brush hogging, cultivating, box blading etc... Best investment I’ve ever made as far as tools/power equipment go. Im sure either the 3025 or 3033 will serve you very well!

We are in Central KY too. My needs are simple for a tractor, small tiller, box blade to fix a drive on my other place up in Louisville, bucket and a rear blade for snow and leveling some areas. I'm 5 minutes from RK and leaning toward a RK24 even though we have 2 smaller old Deere's without loaders used for mowing and have a good relationship with out Deere dealer for service. The price from a 2025 to a RK24 is so much on a retirement check and the tiny tires on the 1025 turn me off.

I think the 3033r would be a good choice, it been around for a few years now , has good low rev torque (1600rpm) but you need to get it with the mid PTO if you want to mount a deck later, and the quick attachhitch would be nice if you do a lot of swaping equipment on and off by your self. Just make sure you check the wheel nuts with in the first few hours because the rims are painted behind the nuts, happy days.

I have a John Deere 2038R with front mount snow blower, 52 inche mower, I love this tractor and just the drive over mower deck will make you love the Deere. I also like the idea of all the John Deere dealers near me. My advice get the R model. I have had this tractor going on 5 years, no complaints. The 2038 R frame is twice as big as the 1 series, I think the same frame as the 3 series.

Personally, I would go with the 3025D because of all the cast iron. I feel like it is far more robust. I also really like the Massey 1800 series tractor. Very similar to the 3025D but slightly larger ft axle and more bells and whistles than the deere. The biggest one being a quick detach loader. The 1835M is one of the most full featured tractors in it's class. These are the two I am looking at.

The medium range is very useful and a nicer seat will be valuable after a long day. Not saying you couldn't get a nicer seat on the D or just swap one on to the D. The R is probably a little more capable with the three range. Have you looked at used tractors to see the hours and price between the D and R ? The R might retain a better sale value ? Hope this helps i like this series keep up the good videos

The 3033R also has the aluminum rear. The hydraulic flow, FEL and 3 point capacities are significantly higher than the E and D series. You're paying a premium for that plus the added creature comforts.

@@hustledancing-americasfuns3830 Before calling someone a liar, you should check sources. According to the on-line brochure straight from Deere, under Section 2 of "Maximize productivity with an eHydro™ transmission", Deere specifically says: 2) Center section made from durable cast aluminum, which is 10 percent stronger. Also, do a web search for 'Deere aluminum rear ends'. There's a very informative thread on Green Tractor Talk about this very subject.

I have a 3043d on order. It will be used for what you described as using yours for. I am lucky enough to also own a 2017 3039R cab tractor. Why not use the 3039 ? With the mower deck off their is ground clearance issues with the hardware from the mower deck still left on the tractor for safely negotiating in the woods in MY opinion. I would also rather put the hours on the D series running my 8800 Woodmax chipper and grapple than on my hydrostat for the same reasons you stated.

I bought a 3035D and I'm pretty happy. The tractor has plenty of power for anything I do, mostly skidding logs right now. I chose the 35 because it has 30 PTO horsepower which is enough for what I want, just ordered a wood chipper and I'm going to add a firewood processor, both PTO powered. YouJust need to do something about John Deere's silly safety ideas. Namely if the PTOis engaged and the operator leaves the seat the tractor shuts off. Bigger Deere tractors have a switch to allow the tractor to keep running. I wonder how the John Deere engineers think I'm going to feed a wood chipper from the tractor seat?

Nice vid, I'm looking at a 3025D so your review was helpful. Most of my work will be with the front loader so manually shifting between F and R is the only hang up I have on that model. How fast and smooth was the transition when going from F To R?
@4-LOW
@4-LOW 3 жыл бұрын
On the 3025D? I really didn't like the transmission at all. The trans is a 2-range instead of 3, the clutch is the worst I've ever seen as far as engagement smoothness goes, and the F/R shifter is not the "Power Reverser" so you do need to use the clutch to switch. If you're barely rolling it's not too harsh, but during loader work it would get slightly annoying. Honestly, after using a standard old fashioned gear tractor for many years, I didn't feel that the 3025D would have been any faster or better at all.

To me it makes no sense to go to a 3025D. You’re still only at 25 hp which was your major complaint with the new Holland but you’re adding more weight in a bigger tractor to make the power to weight ratio worse. If you’re going to go with the D series I would go with higher horsepower otherwise you’ll be in the same boat.
