If you are wandering around in western North Carolina Kickstand Lodge, Rider's Roost, High Country Motorcycle camp, Deal's Gap are handy places to stop. Willville Motorcycle camp in VA, and Two Wheels of Suches in GA make it convenient to ride around the mountains and have a campground that caters to motorcycles close by.

As soon as I saw in your video description trying to use GPS where there is NO GPS signal, I hit like. I've tried to teach terrain association, and terrain appreciation to one of my regular riding partners for that exact reason. Hard for the map to fail outside of fire or acid destroying it. While I do appreciate electronics when they work, I feel compelled to have my paper back up. Pretty nice looking ride as well. I'm pondering something lightweight, with a high MPG rating for exactly this kind of adventure. Open competition right now for that next motorcycle, and I have no idea what model it will be yet.

Thanks for posting your experiences with the REH. I’m considering selling three bikes in my stable (Versys, DR650, XT225) and rolling all the uses of those into a Himalayan. Other than Highway blasts that the Versys makes easy, I think it would be a great replacement for all three. I still have concerns about long term reliability, especially with so few dealers, but the quality checks that RE has initiated with imports seem to be helping. Ride on!

B Simpson The one thing I would mention is the lack of power when climbing elevation at high speeds. I cross a mountain on the highway and she starts to struggle a little on the climb. Highest speed while ascending is about 60mph. On relatively flat ground she does well and off-road is a blast. I hope this helps. Cheers

I was going to say the smaller road looked like a driveway for single car use to me. Stay on the larger of the two, that is headed in the direction you wanted to go and that is west as the sun travels to the west and sets in the west, so head west as much as possible, find a town and then adjust rout8ng north or south to get back on trac. When your on the TAt, you camp a little off the trail anywhere you want to just shy of someone's front yard. As long as you're off the tail and no one is going to run over you. You should have brought enough to stay a night or two out in the woods on your own anyway and make your own campsite a fire ring unless they have a no burn going on. I'm looking into trading off my 87' Honda 700 Super Magna for one of these Royal Enfields and doing a lot of backwood preaching and teaching in Arkansas and on the TAT route as well. Some this summer or maybe as early as this springtime. 2/16/19. Keep the videos clean like this one and I will be a subscriber for a long time.

Hi there! I really like the quality of your videos including the way you use your drone footage. I’m a big fan of the Himalayan too. Two things about this trip since you didn’t have cell service which is quite common. One, there are usually TaT and other trail maps available for a few bucks that are updated every year. And two, I think there is a compass on the instrument cluster of the Himalayan. That might have helped with the whole winding up in Georgia thing! 😂 Keep riding and keep making videos about it! More on the bike please...

This is great for us viewers, it's a scenic route and well captured..... But does it take it away from your ride?? You must spend half the day just concentrating on getting good footage?? This is why I don't capture my rides, I'd be so concerned about getting the footage I'd 'miss' that moment in time and won't absorb it for what it is lol... Don't get me wrong it's great for us views and you done a bloody good job and hope you took the time to actually absorb that stunning scenery for yourself!! Keep up the good work 👍👍

Thank you so much for the great comment and questions. I can admit that one of the reasons I have taken a hiatus in making videos is exactly for that reason, taking away from the experience. I rode a lot this year and sometimes wished I had made a video to share the experience, but also know the experience would've been different. I have reflected on that a lot and plan on making videos again next year but I will approach the whole thing differently. The end result hopefully being a good video, but also a good experience. Ride safe and all the best. Cheers!

Take one for a ride! As long as you’re not expecting it to be like a GS, and bare in mind any negative reviews it has, you should enjoy it. I’ve just ridden it and I’ve got a Triumph tiger 1200, absolutely loved it, handles great, goes round corners well, will do all normal road speeds fine up to 65, and will still veritable from 40 ish if you need to. I honestly couldn’t fault the brakes at all, almost everyone says the front brake is awful but I couldn’t fault it at all, I rode one with 1700 miles on it so maybe they had bedded in nicely? Very comfy to ride sitting and standing, and so so light compared to our bikes. Engine is great too for a little single, 2nd goes up to 40 fairly easily so it’s not really slow off the mark, and very little vibration when cruising. Wouldn’t bother with an overtake if they’re doing more than 50, just enjoy the view 😊 I would 100% have one

Thanks for the question. I actually still have the NC700X, it’s a 2014. I got the Himalayan for doing off-road me camping out in the woods. The NC is a good in town, road bike but the Himalayan is a “go anywhere bike”. I’ve even ridden down small rivers just because I could LOL. If you’re considering a Himalayan, all I can say is I have no regrets and it’s a great bike. Not the fastest, but it’s a like a pack mule. Cheers, ride safe

@@fireballmalone1 Hi have NC too. It's 2013. Great bike. I did some off-roading on it (dirt and gravel roads - lose gravel frightens me 😨), but will never go e.g. TAT on it. If you would go to the Golf of Mexico again, would you consider the Himalayan this time, because "there could be some off-road interesting parts", or it's NC all the way? Thanks.

I also have a honda NC, mines the 700x. The Himalayan is great fun on trails and off road and handles "no road" situations like a champ. The highway is where it struggles. I'm a big dude so that probably contributes to the struggle at high speed and going up mountain highways. I actually don't mind so much knowing ahead of time it isn't a high speed cruiser but if you're looking for a jack of all trades, this may not be the one. The top speed I hit with gear on the highway was 75 mph. It is a low torque work mule. Hope this helps. I love it and have a blast riding it. So far it has taken a fair amount of abuse and is still running strong. Ride safe! Cheers
