Thank you for educating us. I'm also learning that I will stick with dentures and take the best care of them, and replace them as needed. Your poignant comment about the expense associated with upkeep, not just the original cost, hit me hard. I couldn't afford the repairs and maintenance. You are fortunate you're having this paid for and you're working with such supportive dentists helping you along the way. And your husband. As always, love you, and thank you for keeping us in your life.

This is to Liz Sedano, yes Kalin won this procedure. That doesn't mean it should have been done shabbily, just because it was free. I had to pay for mine also and if anything goes wrong, my dentist will be taking care of it! Kalin has been very brave about putting this on KZfaq. Faulty design is faulty design. You should apologize to this young lady.

Hi Kristi, sorry for your troubles, hope your housing better too, you brought up a wonderful point. I really think the best oral surgeon for my complicated case is in SD CA but I live in the Midwest. I am not at all rich either. I do think the tightening and pre-implant bone and surgical and tissue grafting has to be near perfect, that's why I chose who I did, he does not use all on 4 and was putting an implant where one of the wisdom teeth was extracted. You are Helping!

Your story is very encouraging to others who have doubts and fears about this treatment. Living with dentures is painful and definitely not a luxury. Dental implants can get you feeling comfortable and confident again (as you have been!). It's unfortunate you have had this complication. I rarely place only 4 implants on my patients. Do keep us updated as this should be a small hurdle to overcome and you will be back to biting an apple soon with a new beautiful smile. Victor Sanz DDS

Sorry to hear you are having so many issues with your new implants. It makes me think twice about considering implants (if I could ever afford them) I have heard from other dentist that this can be a major problem with implants. What I do appreciate is you upbeat attitude and honesty. You are always a great help to the dentures community! I wish you the best with your implants! -Shiela

You really do have a good positive attitude. That's one thing I've gotten from your videos. That it is important to be positive. I still have my teeth at the moment but I was recently told I needed 5 root canals or extractions, I was devastated because I'm only 28. Your vids pulled me out of my funk and made me realize that I have to do what I have to do and a bad attitude isn't going to fix my teeth. Good luck, I hope it all goes well for you!

Hi....I got my '4 on 1" full mouth reconstruction done in March, here on Long Island in Massapequa Park, NY. Shore Smiles group is simply the best of the best. Early in my my healing process, I developed a slight 'click' in upper denture. 2nd screw (my left) loosened slightly. Which was fixed with a simple tightening adjustment. Everything else was going well until I got whacked with a hose...right on my upper left canine. Now the whole upper has gradually become loose. And after more x-rays, my dentist has decided to do a replacement of the whole top denture. Impressions were already done last visit and tomorrow is my replacement surgery. He explained that in addition to me having a very narrow mouth, I most likely need titanium screws that are deeper and wider. I also needed bone grafting which will be supplemented during tomorrow's procedure. The bottom set has been perfect with no complications. Good luck on your issues and will check back in next few weeks

I agree in that if I had paid 50k for these and I experienced these issues, I would be beyond upset. I do hear from several of Dr. Golpa's patients and so far i'm the only one experiencing this. While I am not sure about the first set, I have my ideas as to why this one fractured and it may not entirely be the design, but rather the way the screws were torqued. More answers coming soon!

Kristi I hate to hear there are problems with your beautiful implants! But I love how positive and open minded you are about everything! And even if this doesn't happen often, it is such and important aspect when considering them. My periodonist did say that she would cover most issues that may happen if I go through her. I will certainly need a couple more details on what is covered before doing the plunge, once I can afford them that is. lol Thank you for the update, and hugs to you!

The titanium inside is a casting. The metal is heated into a liquid and poured into a mold. Air bubbles can form inside during the casting process and cause small voids for the metal to crack. I’m thinking this is what happened but I’m no dentist so...

You definitely want to know what you're getting yourself into. Totally not making excuses here because I should not have had two faulty bridges so far, that's just not excusable.... but as with dentures, everyone's situation is different. Some go forever with the same set of dentures, never having any problems... mine cracked after biting into a piece of shrimp. No different w/ implants. However, that *is* a lot of money to invest if you're not totally confident things will be smooth.

Kristi, It makes me wonder if 4 implants is enough to support the bridge. I have a bar retained denture with 2 implants (upper) and 2 (bottom). I have an annoying habit of pushing my bottom denture up against the top causing movement there. Last weekend, my bar became loose and I was in panic mode. Next, the screw came out that was holding it to the implant. I contacted my dentist and got in to see her on Monday. She told me it was caused by me moving it back and forth.

The all-on-4 design is under-engineered. Your natural teeth have 14 teeth on each jaw to bear the load. Four implants to replace all teeth is risky for fixed bridges. It is better to have six or eight implants per jaw if you want everything to last.

All of 4 on the top, the standard advice is to never have that done. The top requires a minimum of 6 implants and preferably 8, as all the bone tissue if any is really soft on the uppers. I assume something bad happened and as a result all your bone was gone, and this was the only option. That is usually the case for people 60 and over who left teeth missing for a long time causing complete bone loss. Dr Armin at Burbank Dental has a lot of good information at his site about this. People of your young age should be getting the best type of teeth and implants. The Zirconia bridge is suppose to be the best unit out there that is extremely solid with no flex. Acrylic bridges are a no no, and Porcilan is subject to chips and cracking more. The teeth grinding at night is what they call Bruxism, and is indeed probably a factor in why you had problems. The Dentists that do implants these days, ASK about that on the forms you fill out. Definite that you need a night guard. I am getting a smaller bridge done on the upper front 8 which will have 4 implants just for those teeth. It will not be the all on four style installation, as I have lots of bone where the implants will go. Hoping to do the remaining three back teeth on each upper side, down the road with implant bridges and two implants on each. The Doc said 4 hours to get that done.

Hi kalin, i see my story has been cut off for unknown reason. So let me go on where i ended. The occlusion should be perfect. Also the lateral movement during occlusion should be perfect and feel perfect and smooth. If that is not the case you should have it fixed or it will cause problems. I understood from earlier vids you won the bridge, so be a little gentle to the dentist. Nevertheless you should wear a product that functions perfect. If you waiting a while longer it could have given you s

It's not an easy decision but you really don't want to jump in to something unless you know how you will take care of it. Upkeep shouldn't be too much more expensive than upkeep of natural teeth, but should you break a bridge and it's not covered, that gets REALLY expensive! I think mine are around 12k per bridge! It's definitely something to think about!

She doesn't remember the brand just that it was one of the cheaper ones ones. They had several kinds ranging from $7 to $60. She first bought one for $25 but noticed plastic was peeling off so took it back. Then a $50 one that hurt her teeth. Took it back and got one under $10. She says out of the 3 the cheap one fit her the best & has no problem sleeping with it. Although she sometimes starts talking, sits up & takes it out of her mouth...all while asleep. Knew it couldn't have been the gum...that just didn't sound right. My wife got a night guard a few weeks ago and has helped her tremendously. BUT...she didn't buy one from the dentist. She went to the local sporting goods store and bought one of the smaller profile mouth guards that football players use. You just put it in boiling water for 20 seconds or so, put it in your mouth and bite down. It forms perfectly around her teeth. I think she spent under $15 for it. Good luck

I bet you make sure your children are conscientious about brushing their teeth. My parents never said anything and it's caused a lot of problems over the years. When my friend's sons were teens she told me they didn't have the first cavity and when I met them I couldn't believe how beautiful their teeth were. I live in Nevada so getting to Dr. G isn’t a issue and can’t imagine traveling from Florida or Michigan to Vegas just for dental. But my point to all this Liz and your husband “who’s in the medical field “ what was the point of bringing him into any of this??? And also what was the point in all your $$$?? Yes anyone can say whatever as freedom of speech and opinions are allowed. So here’s mine.. Lizard, Liz ( that’s what I picture you looking like without teeth) my opinion. I just got Hybridge permanent, none removable bridges. They are made with chrome cobalt plates screwed directly to my jaw. Even with these, I was told to NEVER eat gum, hard candies, ice, hard nuts, or ANYTHING that could be harder than the bridge. Gum sticks to bridge material and is a disaster. It sounds to me like you were either given a bad product OR you were not given good instructions. Maybe you just ignored instructions?

Yes, your bridges are gorgeous, but had you paid it yourself, you'd be pissed and probably would want a refund. I would. Dr. Gulpa didn't do it right the first time (he cut corners w cheaper materials) so they broke, then you got titanium and they broke again. It's really not good. Your case, if I recall, was severely bone density disabled & most DDS would have never touched your case. Wouldn't it be wonderful if every product review spoke nothing but positive about the product…… right? Wouldn't it be amazing? I'm sorry, contest winner or not, i'm going to be honest about everything. 100% honest. If you don't like that, I am terribly sorry. Where is your video review? Could you send me the link, please? I didn't say I think Dr. Golpa is terrible. Never said anything bad about them or the All-on-4 system. Is it 100% perfect? No. And that's what I am here to say. I had an amazing experience with Dr. Golpa and i've said that time and time again. But I am here to share the criticisms as well. A good dentist will take constructive criticism and use it to improve his skill. Most appreciate my honesty. Liz, whoever you are….. KZfaq is a free service and you are more than welcome to create videos stating all of the positives about your experience with Dr. Golpa. But if i'm not mistaken, he already has videos on his website listing off all of the positives. I am simply stating the pros and cons for those who would like to know what they are getting themselves into before they spend their life savings on a treatment…. and have unrealistic expectations of things…. Good day!

Where did I "come from? " I "came from" months of watching YOUR story (blog)! I "came from" being a paying patient of Dr. Golpa, DDS. I "came from" Michigan with my husband to have the procedure done. It seems from your blog videos that you are having trouble because you were a unique case with years of having worn dentures first (causing bone loss). You said that no one else would have even given you the All-on-4 due to yr severe bone loss. They took a chance & it was free. If you are insinuating that I am not a "REAL" patient with your comment asking "I wonder where you came from," you are wrong. I traveled from Michigan to Nevada after much research with my husband accompanying me (who is in medical field). Also, your comment that this was my only comment on Google or YT is probably correct. I am not a big poster like you, but I AM a patient of 3 years. I had all 28 teeth removed & the All-on-4 implanted immediately afterward (up & lower) & I have been back for my check-ups. I have had no complaints. I hope you are doing well.

Lastly, I am a big supporter of Constructive Criticism & was not alluding that you should be automatically thrilled just because your $50,000 procedure was free. If you have issues you should air them, however yr tone changed so dramatically that I found it blasphemous---Dr Golpa, DDS would have probably flown you back to Nevada on his dime to fix anything y were unhappy with rather than have you spew negative information online. He flew me (& my husband) back within 1 week when one of my temporary teeth broke after eating popcorn. All his cost. Now, I have my permanent set & can eat anything.
