Welcome to a loose ink and watercolor sketching tutorial for beginners. This is a simple step by step guide and demonstration where I create some art of these shops in Derby. I start by building up the linework in ink and then applying the watercolor paint.

People often look at art and drawing as the whole process and that can put people off from even trying to create anything. This simple demo will show the basic stages of loose ink and watercolor and how to create an interesting image with line work and watercolor.
Urban Sketching requires minimal equipment and therefore is a very accessible for newbies. It is essentially not only a reflection of your landscape but also what it means to be within the fabric of it. You can include the people, the street furniture and interpret those details any way you want. The sketchbook is a playground. It can also be a very sociable art form with urban sketching groups in most cities.
