Lord Jamar sat down with VladTV and shared his thoughts on Eminem's recent BET cypher where he dissed Donald Trump. While Lord Jamar applauds Eminem for speaking out, he added that he doesn't like the imagery of a white man speaking in front of a group of black men about issues like Trump.
Moving along, Lord Jamar said he liked Mysonne's cypher more than Eminem's, as he believes Mysonne was saying things pertinent to the black person's everyday life. To hear more about what Lord Jamar had to say, hit the above clip.

There are two reasons Mysonne didn't get as much attention as Eminem. Reason number 1: Mysonne is nowhere near as famous as Eminem. Why would a person that almost nobody knows get a lot of attention? Reason number 2: It will never be front page news that a black man spoke out against police brutality. That is the reason why it was important for Em to speak up. Not because he's better than Mysonne, not because he's trying to be a savior to black people, but because he wanted to use his platform to speak out on the injustices we are facing as a people. That's what made it a huge deal. A white artist that shares a fanbase with Donald Trump, decided to alienate those fans by speaking out against the president and supporting Collin Kaepernick. With all of the criticism Em is getting over this, it's becoming more and more obvious that their are forces that are actively working to keep black people and white people from coming together against our common enemy. The enemy loves it when we fight with each other over dumb stuff like whether or not Eminem's flow was hot, while they continue to commit crimes against humanity.

@bklynautoman1688 6 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Mclean ZACKLY!!! Finally a response from a person of color who Gets It! We (blacks) NEED other folks besides Us, chiming in on these issues! Otherwise it gets blown off as "blacks complaining again". Folks need to see that people in general...not just blacks, are getting fed up with things. And I took the imagery as blacks having his back in ALLOWING someone not of color to chime in. And it was more effective to here accapella...down to even hearing the frustration in his breathing. Since the 90s, Em has long been heard not caring for certain types of whites, bcuz he knows they don't care for him either! He's just considered White 8Mile Trash in their eyes, so he has Zero issues speaking down on them, aside from his long-time friendship with blacks in Detroit.

Imma brother, not even a big Eminem fan but.... Dude has been quiet for a minute but comes out n uses his voice to help empower our people. I agree that it could've been done differently but don't lose sight of the intention. There are a lot of our people, who have a voice, that don't say shit bout our issues. Listen, I %100 agree that there were/are other ways he could have spoken on the issues at hand but don't miss his intentions man. Give suggestions, yes, but don't refuse the blessings man. I agree with LJ for the most part but don't discourage people from stepping out and taking risks...I personally think Eminem's cypher wasn't poppin but I felt the passion. Bless

That concept scares White people and some Blacks.

Yaya and Stacy The problem is anyone who is “woke” and listens to him carefully can confirm the man contradicts himself regularly, and anyone who reads can call bullshit on half of the shit he is talking about, mind you i agree with the other half of what he says but his stance is at times awfully ignorant, not supported by facts and in-fact coming from a perspective of a man dealing with inferiority complex. Now whoever proclaims him as a prophet or a leader of black empowerment and believes anything this man says is free to do so including yourself, not me. Im color blind and see beyond the black and the white, i only believe in facts.

Ok, I'm usually with LJ on what he says but now I just feel like he's being a little too critical. I doubt Em's goal was to have Black people "behind" him as if to say he's more important or whatever Jamar is saying that imagery represented. I can appreciate what Em did especially since he's one of the very few white people to come out and viciously oppose Trump. He didn't just diss Trump, he also said F U to ANY of his fans that ride with or voted for Trump. Get off of Em's back yo. If he didn't say something people would be pissed but he did and now the argument is he didn't do it exactly how you would have liked him to? SMH

I swear Lord Jamar is a Eminem hater amongst all haters Lord Jamal it has to be the king of them. I don't understand how he could say such little positivity and have such a tremendous negative point of view about Eminem Cypher. My message to Lord Jamar is to stop being color bias. Stop favoring just a black point of view and wishing that everything has to have a black man perspective on everything. You have artist who are not the same level as Eminem or can be compared to the actions of Eminem. Everybody is not on the same level as Eminem. Eminem had the power to get on BET and make that spoken word Cipher. Not too many people in his level would dare to speak on those views so when you're hoping that a black representative can speak for the people you can clearly see who had more power and more of representation for hip hop culture. Let me repeat in a plain version of what I just said. Every artist who is closed or Beyond Eminem's level did not represent because they chose to not represent the only person who had the power and chose to use it was Eminem. Stop trying to tear it apart because that is a trump supporter move

Lord Jamar's projecting things into things through his paranoid racial bias. He said it himself, "I don't know if I should be mad at this..." & "I feel I see things others don't see." Yeah, 'cause race matters too much to him 'cause he's lived real racism and just can't trust white people, which is understandable. All the talk about the imagery is sophistry. It's reading into things to the point where you can twist them any way you want. It says a lot more about Lord Jamar than anything else.

Personally, I took it as a white man willing to step up to the frontline of the matter we’ve been having and discussing for years. 99% of people of color feel the same about Trump so let’s not be naive, there’s no shock value. EM is hip hop Elvis, imagine if Elvis spoke out about segregation or racism? That move opens the door for white people to feel comfortable to stand up as well. There’s no negative, you can focus on one if you really need to point out nuances that maintain a polarized state. I think the “white savior” narrative only applies if you believe that in the first place. EM is at a place artistically where he can do what he wants black or white. I didn’t want to hear a beat. Jamar is stuck in a dated race centric mind-state. I believe EM was talking to Trump not black ppl btw. First of all Trump affects non wealthy Americans at large last heard EM is an American too. What’s wack is ppl saying oh, EM wasn’t spitting hot enough when no Mummble rapper or Cardi B is spitting anything but we’re happy to shuck and jive to that.

dominick smith and then Lord Jamar made another great point.. that CMT wouldn’t have ever allowed Eminem to come onto their awards show to freestyle in this political climate the country is in. Yeah, it would’ve made a bigger impact if it could’ve happened. But the backlash on the Country Music channel would’ve been swift and severe. They’d never take that risk and permanently alienate not only their own viewership, but their advertisers as well. Im positive Eminem would’ve been down to do it if it was possible. But it wouldn’t be up to him. It’d never happen. Lord Jamar is talking hypotheticals. He’s complaining that Em did it on BET and not CMT, yet EVERYONE has heard about Ems cypher and got all these people talking about it. Lord Jamar included. Mission accomplished.
