The present day is no exception and in fact zaheer khan has been a more effective bowler than shaun tait having 20kmph less speed. One day cricket is made more of a batsman dominated game for more viewership and that made bowlers look less fearsome. So some of them went for smart bowling aiming a better economy. But there has been a lot who never wanted to compromise with speed. Moreover cricket being a good source of income more and more talents are getting attracted. So there is no reason today's bowlers are less faster than before, although a percentage of them went for compromised speed to concede less runs.
