Watch Paul B’s face whenever the other royal commentator speaks. He actually grits his teeth when he speaks. I like the other royal commentator better. Paul believes he, and only he, is the definitive voice for Diana and even the RF. Yet they refuse to talk to him now. Wonder why?

The butler is the most untrustworthy person, he has made a career out of talking about Diana and has been caught in several lies. The graceful thing to have done from day one was to exercise discretion, but instead he continues to betray her trust. You were the help, However fond of you she was, being discreet was part of your job. It's not his place to tell these things.

I don't think that he betrays her trust - he doesn't talk trash about Diana. I think that the Royal Family is very leery of him because he knows all the dirt on Charles.

I just don’t know how he can sit and criticise the Crown for bringing up Diana’s death and Prince Harry for sharing his story while sitting on Lorraine himself telling deeply personal stories about Diana and in particular about the day of her death. Complete hypocrite. I assume he’s being paid for his appearance and once again profiting from being able to tell these traumatic stories too. I just cannot stomach him at all.

The Queen and Princess Diana are multi-faceted like all people. Princess Diana was a ‘fighter’ standing firm in her beliefs but she was also ‘lonely and vulnerable’ and many other things, such as compassionate, highly sensitive and intelligent, in my opinion. She was not afraid to show all her different sides which was courageous.

I disagree, i have lived through the era of Wales. I have watched Crown since day 1, my only two bits here would be, it is a potrayal of poignancy and pain from the eyes of the writer. Just watch it! I think this is by far the best hard hitting Crown episodes. Powerful and highly emotional watch. Just because it makes you uncomfortable doesn't mean its bad! Highly recommended for people to watch and understand the complicated sides of life. Golden Globes, Oscar goes to Elizabeth Debicki, i said it! Stellar

Paul says it’s difficult to talk about…then proceeds to talk about it pretty easily. I think these middle class people are unaware that many of us have moved on, and don’t care too much about the Crown’s portrayal of events. I wasn’t even born at the time, I wish Diana was still with us - I think many events that happened since her death would not have happened the way they did. But sadly we live in a world without her. But nowadays royalty is a bit obsolete.

I love Paul Burel very much ! he took care of Diana for so many years and really knew her, unlike many other people. He was also very respectful of the Queen. He is right, Diana was not a saint but a fighter. She used to call the paparazzis when it suited her and began cheating on Charles right between the births of their children, even before he went back to Camilla because their marriage didn’t work. In reality, she was not afraid of being the third people in the marriage of many of her lovers, some of them very married with young children. Her book and her interview were not fair to Charles, so ultimately we were manipulated. They could have become good friends in the end, because she knew he was a good and decent man and she could herself be too demanding, like with Dr. Hasnat Khan who didn't want to marry her. She did not hesitate to go to Pakistan to convince his parents, which was also not fair given their culture, and she probably hurt his dignity.

Paul doesn't seem to understand the concept of being someone's confidant. When you are a trusted confidant you don't go and tell their secrets and private information the way he keeps doing, you keep that stuff guarded with your life. Diana should never have trusted him or the guy who keeps putting out books about her that are supposed to be in her own words. It's a shame people just keep using her for their own gain even after she's been gone for a long time, why can't they just leave her alone and let her rest in peace already? I know she was no innocent angel but still. Greedy people.

People in this interview have clearly not watched this season. Princess Di is portrayed as a fighter and the final relationship portrayed as a fling. Also, the Queen is not shown to be cold but as having to consistently deal with dramas at the family, national and global level. I also like how she requested visits from her grandson once he was attending school nearby to nurture their relationship.

IMO it was well done. The fact Elizabeth Debecki is Diana incarnate makes it so emotional especially for those who knew her. The writers have reiterated that we don’t know what was in the minds of the characters as they experienced the major events in their lives so they have sensationalized various events to engage the viewers. Diana wasn’t a ghost, Charles and the Queen felt her presence and realized how she touched their lives in a positive way. They had a similar scene with Mohammad and Dodi. No doubt Mohammad was feeling very guilty and IMO spent the rest of his life trying to pin the accident on the RF because they never accepted him. The reality is he was inadvertently to blame. The Queen was portrayed much better than she was in the movie “The Queen”. FM it was made clear that Diana was never serious about Dodi. She was just hanging out with him to pass the time while her boys were away. Her thoughts were always on them. The viewer comes away with confirmation they were her everything which her fans already knew. This is another reason I believe the episodes were well done considering all the nasty things that have been said about her, Dodi and Charles since she died. I did think it was odd they didn’t have Paul accompany Charles to Paris but they barely showed her sisters leading me to believe they wanted the focus to be on Charles. It might be better to watch the episodes instead of think the worst because it’s so much more positive than most of what has been written and discussed over the last 26 years.

Elizabeth Debecki was missing Diana’s vivaciousness. I was on a city bus when a young man had the Vanity Fair Mario Testino shoot. I asked him to see it and the guy straight up gave it to me. Diana had this warm hearted spirit. Elizabeth Debecki looks the part but writers wrote Diana as a very cold and dark woman and she wasn’t. Diana was escaping the clutches of that family and learning to find herself.

I have not watched part 1 of this season of the crown - but I will. I think people are over reacting to the portrayal of her death and the appearance of her ghost before they even view it! Did anyone go see the well known play called King Charles III written by BRITISH playwright Mike Bartlett that opened in London in 2014? I saw it in Vancouver, Canada a few years ago- pre Covid. In it the ghost of Diana also appears. It was done with sensitivity and I believe it brought a lot to the plot of the play. Where was the media outrage at that? Yes, the play King Charles III was pure fiction based on true events. So is the Netflix series! Yes, there should be a disclaimer that it is per episode but I know it is not an actual docu-series. I hope people do watch the series and make up their own minds about the events surrounding Princess Diana’s death. I was, and still am, a huge Princess Diana fan. She is a figure of history now and will continue to be portrayed throughout time. Sometimes well done. Others times not. Netflix has, in my opinion, gotten some things right in their portrayal of Diana and somethings not but, to me, it is still worth watching.

I just saw it and the controversies are just all hat and no cattle. It's a drama not a documentary, ( a very good one at that) and there's nothing distasteful here. Much like we saw Mountbatten's assassination we see another tragic event ... just so happens to be of a person who is one of the main points of views/stories in the show ... so it gets a more involved treatment. I honestly don't get the public reaction or the RT score.

@@schindler80- I agree. The same critics who claim they don’t watch love to stir the idiocy when the reality is they’re so unimaginative. I didn’t interpret Diana’s presence as an apparition. The writers have said time and again they sensationalize various events because in reality we don’t know what those characters were really thinking or feeling. IMO Charles and the late QEII felt Diana’s presence as they thought about how when all was said and done, she touched their lives in a positive way. Remember the Queen went from almost losing her job that week to the height of her popularity over that summer and continued to get more popular over the next 25 years. They also showed Mohammad talking to Dodi which makes sense because you know he had a lot of guilt over what happened.

All I know is Diana was a 19 yr old girl when she got caught up with 30-something Charles and Camilla. We know she asked Charles about Camilla as was told they were just friends. It was Camilla who got caught sneaking onto the train and this was after Charles began dating Diana.

Isn’t he the one who stole Diana’s things, and was bailed out by the Queen because she didn’t want a scandal. I would TOTALLY listen to his opinion about Diana’s about memory.

One of Diana's quotes was I will fight for my boys until they get to there potential The boys mother's death was a terrible experience they were just children with those memories. Let them move on Stop telling the story over Nd over again Let them live there own lives Why can't you see this is not right Love her boys the wY she wanted them to be loved It's the past . This country needs to get back on its feet by moving on .candle in the Wind Full of love for all. .

Because she had no conflict with her boys. It's Charles and QE thinking about what they would say to her and her to them. It's just a visualization of their thoughts...

Paul Burrell shoukd just stay out of this he isn’t talking for Diana. He talking just to keep himself in the spotlight. It’s Diana’s sons and family to speak up for her not some former Butler

I'm watching the last few days of THE CROWN. Dodie Fayed piece is definitely interesting but in no way does it portray the truth but only an explannation as to why Fayed the Father is the one who said they were to be married but no way does Diana see him as the "love of her life".

The Queen thought she was doing the right thing by supporting her grandson, who were most affected by what happened. The crowds in London who were crying for her would have eventually moved on.This will be with Harry and William forever.

Well clearly Paul has not seen this season because I thought the Queen was sympathetic. Imelda for the most part was not stoic and cold, not at all at the time of Diana’s death in the last two episodes.

Claire Foy was perfection … her performance remains unequalled by all and sundry other Elizabeth’s in this series . For me , Foy and Mirren own Queen Elizabeth II and the late , great Glenda Jackson owns Elizabeth I.

I haven’t watched any of it. Not interested in these adaptations of he said she said. Just let all of this go. It’s been over 25 years. Paul don’t watch it. It’s over for Christ sake. Over the years you have been dragged through the dirt. No more. Go live a great life with your husband and keep her memory alive within you.😢
