Rick's Cocaine in the Coffin theory will be looked at years from now as the moment we all knew we were in for a treat. Like the feeling we had the first time we realized WHY Locke wiggling his toe was SPECIAL. "So much." "SO much." "So much cocaine." And let's be real: a cocaine powered dead man running around the island is not the craziest theory attached to this show.

Personally, I think Jack's Dad is a narcissist. And one thing Narcs like to do , is put their kids down ALL the time.

@watashi interesting point. However, I have lived with a narcissist and speaking from experience, they do anything to make themselves feel better. They want to feel superior to those around them, especially those closest to them. To accomplish this, one tool they use is constant putdowns. A cool and assured person doesn't need make people feel like shit but a narc has to put down anyone they see as being better than them to retain their facade.

@watashi As someone raised by a narcissist, I can assure you that having an outward appearance of being cool, collected and assured on the outside (and even actively trying to project that image to others) does not mean they are really like that on the inside. And it does not mean that they don't need outside input. It can be in more subtle ways like choosing a career that is usually admired by others in the hope that gets them admiration, such as a doctor/surgeon. It could also be self-praising while also putting down those they see as 'less' or 'weaker' inherent

Love seeing early foreshadowing like when jacks chasing “Christian” into the trees and just as he disappears into them, Locke falls out of them.

just like religion itself, you keep chasing something that'll keep disappearing, and you have to find what you have to know on your own, with no false guidance, but only perseverance. at least that's how i took it.

Blind Wave: I love all of you. I am SO happy I found this channel, it's amazing how much joy it brings me. I started watching your reactions to Community, then I watched all of the GoT reactions. Eric, you're so dang good at this! How do you managed to do this so well and so consistently in both GoT and now Lost. I love your glances at the camera when others figure stuff out, like last episode and the tiny one we see here at 5:07. Also: Detective Calvin has a challenger!

@@sarahconnor2129 No Do you remember the alternate timeline stuff? When they went back in time to stop the hatch being built so the plain wouldn't crash. (The flash sideways are the alternate universe if the plain didn't crash) but its really just Purgatory after everyone has died.

Which John? Doctor Who, Torchwood or Arrow? Maybe you see what I see, the depth of character to play both good and bad guy when necessary, but always wise. Not everyone can pull off that emotional range just with their facial expressions.

@@IrishBiteGirl "Lost" was a pretty important series for how modern shows structure their narrative. I'm seeing this for the first time with the crew and a lot of the stuff is predictable; in large part because other shows following "Lost" have similar patterns. The journey and character interaction getting to the predictable plot points is where I'm enjoying the show.

Another thing, to just ponder on whether you've seen Lost, or it's your first time watching it, is the fact that, we Just watched the past episode about a man who wasn't able to walk Before he got on the plane, but now that the plane has crashed, he can walk again. And now in this episode, we learn this man was taking his father who was dead, back home, but now that plane has crashed, he sees his father walking again, and the body is not in the coffin. Now Rick said if I remember correctly, last episode, that maybe the crash just pushed something back in place to where Locke was able to walk again, but ever since last episode, we been seeing Locke have a aroma around to where, this island, is Something, Special...He claims he looked in the eye of the island, he's telling Jack what if he's Not hallucinating. Just something to think about

Rick should check out the original Stepfather from 1987. Terry O'Quinn is a very different guy from Locke in that film. :)

Locke is pretty much giving Jack his Daddy fix. John and Christians’s eyes have both optimistic and a pessimistic stares, coming out of those blue peepers. Their eyes literally smile when they are hopeful but when they Arnst, you can see the dark clouds gathering behind the knowing glare. ♊️ Checking In.

I really think the guy who hasn't seen the show should be leading the conversation. The other guy sure is leading and doing subtle foreshadowing, but already the other guy has picked up on things. Let him figure it out for himself.

3:47 it's not that they added one, but rather NASA was like "you know what? You wanna know how fake this stuff is? There's actually *13* constellations that the Sun passes through, but you guys removed it cause 12 works better with our calendar.".....or something like that. I might have been paraphrasing. The "new" sign is called *Ophiuchus,* and because of the new dates, I'm actually both an Aries AND a Taurus! Which is preeeeetty cool, and because of that I go by the 13 calendar charts (not that it matters xD)

13 months would be much better. Every month could be 4 weeks then. It's stupid that "month" is such a vague timeframe. A minute or hour day... that's always the same. A month is 28, 29, 30 or 31 days. That's so dumb. When people ask how old a baby is, they say 2 months and 7 days or something... WHICH MONTHS? Stupid stupid stupid.

Erik please, do not point out clues of future plot points to Rick as you did about what Jack's mother said to Jack. He should notice the details himself. When you especially emphasize them, you make him focus on it and make him figure things out more quickly...

I think just the nature of what they are doing is going to make him figure things out quickly. They are watching it to make a reaction video, they are taking notes and really thinking about what is going on, and then they are discussing what they just saw afterward.

The show runners thought the name "Jack" was an underused protagonist name. They though the name "Jack" was thought of as a great leader like Jack Kennedy.

Really? Cos there's like, tons of hero's/protags named Jack. Jack O'Neill (Stargate), Jack Bauer (24), Jack Slater (Last Action Hero), Jack Ryan (Tom Clancy books), Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean), Jack Bristow (Alias(which is also another JJ show)), Jack Harkness (Doctor Who/Torchwood (though I guess he didn't exist until after this show was made, so you can give that one a pass)), Jack Torrance (The Shining), Jack Dawson (Titanic), Jack Burton (Big Trouble in Little China), Jack Traven (Speed), Jack Crow (Vampires). And that's just a handful. If a hero isn't named Jack there's a good chance he's named John instead. They're by far the most common protagonist names in fiction.

Hey question for everyone. I hear hulu messes up something with the last episode or something, right? I’m just about there on my own watching of the show and I was wondering if that has since been fixed or if I should go elsewhere for the last episode. I see a 2-hr finale that says uncut, but I don’t know if that’s what I want or not. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Last episode of Season 1 is weirdly split into 3 Parts if I remember correctly but actually aired as Part 1 (1 hour) Part 2 (2 hours) if I remember correctly. Not a big deal but the cut in the Hulu Part 2 and Hulu Part 3 is pretty obviously not the end of an episode. If you meant the whole show series finale, I believe there are some deleted scenes that aired originally but were cut for Hulu for some reason. Might be worth looking up the full version since that episode is obviously important.

Well, Christian did have to teach him to not panic in the operating room After he was already a surgeon and was raised by a surgeon. You’d think with all that schooling, he wouldn’t have an anxiety attack that his dad had to talk him off the ledge from (5 seconds). Jack is afraid of failing which makes him weak. Indecisiveness on the operating room table can cost someone their life, not to mention being able to let go of the ones you can’t save for your own mental health. He also doesn’t work well with a team, making him more standoffish and less trustworthy. But that’s just my opinion.

I love Erick, but I can't help but feel annoyed at him looking at Rick every time he wants him to figure something out. There are things Rick would've found out in his own time or when the show told him, if he didn't see Erick staring at him.
