I just have to comment on the conversation between Jack and his father when he was talking about his patient dying but he still came home and ate dinner and watched Carol Burnett. You seemed really surprised when you said, "and forget??" Here's the thing, as a nurse, if every time one of my patients died or got some bad news or test results, and I came home from work and couldn't interact with my family in a normal way, I would be punishing them and myself. It's something we even learned about in school. You *have* to disassociate or you would very quickly become depressed and burned out. If human beings cared about everyone on Earth as much as they care about their friends and families, no one would be able to function. It's just too much.

Covid is a pretty good sickness to have. You get a lot of sympathy and i felt perfectly fine as long as i didn't try to exert myself by standing up or moving at all. Normally when i get sick i feel like death for a week. With Covid I'd wonder if i was really sick at all and then i'd go to the kitchen and get something to eat and i'd feel awful and totally exhausted and i'd sleep for 3 hours.

@@CraigKostelecky my dad is a respiratory therapist in an ER. He said as soon as they stopped putting people on ventilators they stopped dying. He explained to me the ventilator kills someone with Covid because the virus pushes blood out of the capillaries into the lungs and the ventilator pushes air into the capillaries. The two pressures push against each other and the patient suffocates he said.

Jack's dad was a toxic parent, that's why he said he needed to bury his father to get it all over. Now that he buried/destroyed his father's coffin, he is free to be Himself.

That was the plan only if Michael Keaton was casted as Jack, They wanted a known actor to appear as the lead and then get killed off.

Y'know...I've watched this show and this episode several times and it just occurred to me while watching Jack try to save the woman from drowning while everyone else watches from the shore, don't airplanes have life vests and/or don't the seat cushions also work as flotation devices? You'd think someone could try to swim out there with a spare vest or something?

I'm so glad you guys are doing well. This is the episode that made me realize that I was watching the best show ever IMO. Specifically, the scene with Locke and Jack. That scene is very important and the look on Jack's face sold the scene. He's mesmerized. Everything happens for a reason....

I also love the way this show gives you a perspective of a past event that happened to a character and how they are handling a similar situation in the present time while on the island

My thought of this episode was a metaphor for how we are in life, always chasing our parents to be like them or gain their approval instead of paving our own path and finding our own worth. Jacks worth right now is taking care of these people and making sure they survive.

Probably wouldn't be a smart idea to have too many people trying to swim out into the ocean to rescue someone. As demonstrated by Boone, even a lifeguard can start drowning in the ocean so the less people putting themselves at risk the better overall.

Steve if you are a big fan of backstories you will love this show. Almost every episode is a backstory for a character and it’s not a one and done. You have multiple parts of their past so just because you’ve seen one backstory episode doesn’t mean you won’t see anymore from a certain person

If you get too far out you will get pulled farther out by the current. Boone was supposed to be a lifeguard so maybe he wore himself out fighting the current. You have to swim diagonal if you are caught in the current so you can swim out instead of just against the current.

Yeah this show is so full of detail, I watched it once by myself, once with my friends, and once with my parents, and I not only figured out new stuff I didn't catch the first time, but interpreted things differently every time.

Glad to see you alive 👍 It was stupid for Jack to destroy his father's coffin. Because, since he is no longer inside, the survivors could have used it as a mini-canoe in case someone else was drowning. 😂 So, the white rabbit wears a black suit and he doesn't seem to be late. This island is therefore not the Wonderland.

Yeah, the back stories help define the characters, and this is above all, a character driven show. Yes, there's lots of mystery, many question we want answers for, but the characters, rule all. At least that's how I feel about it.

Great reaction to a great show! In this first season you'll notice that the writers really take their time in telling the story. This is just a taste of Jack's backstory - if you think about all the characters on the island and that each one of them deserves a focused episode, you'll quickly calculate that this show is on a long trajectory. Can they keep up the quality thoughout and move the main plot and mysteries forward?? You'll find out, but I think you already know the answer. Also, welcome back - stay healthy!

Can you react to the series the end of the F***ing world It's awesome. and one episode is only 20 min long so you can finish a season in less than 3 hours

Your comment isnt correct. One episode is over 40 minutes long so it would take over 16 hours to finish the first season. And if one episode were 20 minutes long then it would still take you over 8 hours to finish it and not 3!
