Frodo wakes up after he passed out on Mount Doom, and finds himself lying in a nice bed with Gandalf standing in front of him. (HD Blu-ray)
The end of this scene, with Sam and Frodo just silently watching each other, not needing to say a word, together with that beautiful music, makes a perfect moment to display their friendship and respect for each other.

I feel like this was a strange editing choice that creates this humorous implication which Jackson probably didn’t intend. It’s only logical that Elijah must’ve filmed a take where he says “Legolas!” with the others, but then Jackson instead chose a take for that moment where he wasn’t speaking. It’s a weird choice, for sure.

For those who keep saying that Sam is the real hero, you fail to understand what the fellowship was about. Had it not been for Frodo AND Sam the ring would not have been destroyed. Frodo carried the burden to the point that he nearly lost himself (and in fact never recovered), Sam did his best to prevent that from happening and had it not been for Gollum he would have failed. The rest of the fellowship made it possible for Frodo to finish his mission by emptying Mordor. The fellowship was the lynchpin that made everything possible and such they all deserve praise, and they ALL were given that prise.

I love how gandalf after spending so long in the other world, came back colder, more detached. But he completly breaks once he sees frodo waking up, he just laughs happily. Gandalf is deeply attached to frodo and bilbo. Those two little hobbits, an ancient being the equivalent of an angel, who needed these two little creatures to give him hope. Gandalf brings light to all, and hope. But these two, bring hope to him.

This is why I think that stranger in ROP is actually Gandalf. He has a deep connection with hobbits in LOTR and it would make sense that the first being he comes in contact with when arriving in Middle Earth is Hobbits.

Pietro Tettamanti he got it a few hours, and was enough for him becoming reluctant to give it back to frodo. Frodo and Sam together, with the aid of Divine Grace (by means of gollum at the end) did the job.

That look Sam gave him at the end, shows how far his character had come. He had come from the happy go lucky contentment to hell and back and it shows in his expression. The fact they (Sam and Frodo) shared that journey, meant they never had to say a thing, just say it with their eyes. To me this is similar to two soldiers, they been through the same thing, they needn't say a word to communicate it

Sam follows Frodo and the Elves to the Grey Havens after Rosie passes away. Sam's lifespan was increased because he had the ring for a few weeks while he tried to free Frodo from the Orc watch tower. The last group of Elves took Sam, Gimle, and Legolas to the eternal land. Galadriel and Legolas both advocated for Gimle, the only dwarf to be allowed to make the journey.

there's that scene near the end of this film where the four hobbits are just in a bar and nothing is said...nothing needs to be said. They all just look at each other with expressions that betray what they're thinking as they've returned home to a place that is celebrating with no understanding of everything that they had just gone through it's one of the best scenes in the entire trilogy in my opinion, and there's not even a single line of dialogue. LOTR is many things, but at its core, it's a story about four hobbits who leave their homes, encounter incredible hardship and trauma, learn how to be courageous in the face of all of that, and become "men" in a sense. definitely an allegory for what happened to veterans of the First world War

One thing I want to point out, is how much this scene teaches me about love. Loving is not only about sleeping with someone, laying every night next to them in the bed. Not kissing, not cuddling. Love is something more important. A feeling that no one is able to describe. When Sam comes in and Frodo see's him, that is love. You can see it between their eyes.

There are things I don't like about this adaptation but one thing I will concede is that Peter Jackson nailed Frodo and Sam's relationship. That look they gave each other said it all. Sam was the one who never gave up on him and always had his back. One thing I love about Sam is that in the first two parts he's kind of in the background but in the 3rd part he really comes through and becomes the real hero.

At this point I dont think I will see another movie made like this in my life time. It felt so genuine because it was. The cast loved each other, the visual effects and make up are so real, the music. It's just perfect. It was a pleasure to be born at a time to be able to see these movies in theatres in 2001-2003 for the first time.

He definitely would have remember his name because they were with each other for almost 5 months. 2 months in rivendell. 40 days west of the misty mountains. 4 days at least in moria. 1 day from moria to lothlorien. 1 month in lothlorien. And then probably almost a week before the fellowship breaks

1:45 This specific shot always got me as a kid, and I never knew why. The hobbits are reunited and happier than the rest had ever seen them; looked on by the king of men, a legendary elven warrior, a mighty dwarf lord and the great white wizard. But it's the fact that Gimli sheds a tear. That's what did it for me.

@@vinnyl264Sam certainly got a taste of what Frodo was going through when he himself bore the Ring in Cirith Ungol. The Ring bears down on the minds of everyone who carries it. Nobody is immune. It was a struggle for Sam to resist it, as it was for everyone else, before he managed to return it to Frodo. After that experience, he completely empathized with Frodo’s struggle in a way nobody else could.

And it reminds you of the journey too. Gandalf to Frodo's knowledge disappeared pretty early into the whole thing, and just having watched the hours long films, you were on that journey in a sense with Frodo. One thing about the length of these movies that I appreciate is just how much ground was covered to give you an idea of the ordeal.

I love that look that Frodo and Sam share. Because it’s not just pure joy like it was for seeing the others are still alive, it told a lot more. The others had no idea what he had been through really and the burdens he and Sam carried so it was easy to just be purely joyful while Sam was the only one who really knew. It shared the pain that they’d felt and the relief that it was over. He couldn’t pretend he was perfectly joyful with Sam because Sam knows all that happened. Sam knows how the ring changed him forever and how they could never be the same again. But I also love the mutual love and respect the look shows for seeing each other through the quest. It’s one of my favorite parts of this movie.

I don’t think Frodo is pretending to be completely joyful here. He really is, as he didn’t know if any of the others were still alive. Especially after learning that Boromir died, he likely feared that everyone had died. He didn’t even know Gandalf had returned. It’s probable he thought he and Sam were the only ones left. So seeing everyone safe and sound makes him genuinely full of joy. When he sees Sam, it’s different because of this. They look at each other like “we made it, they made it, we all are alive,” assuring each other that it’s true as they can hardly believe it. At the same time, neither will ever forget what they went through. They had it the worst out of all of them. So their shared look is sad too, as they acknowledge that they both have lost their innocence forever. Truly stunning moment.

Notice how the music changes slightly as each character walks through the door? Merry and Pippin enter the room, the music begins to lighten up, and the sound of the familiar tin whistle becomes clearer and more at the forefront. Gimli walks in and the music becomes slightly louder and stronger, but still bouncy and cheerful. When Legolas walks through the door, the more serious part begins and his elegance and almost regality is at the forefront. And then Aragorn comes in with again a very familiar sound, yet much like Legolas, it has a more 'royal' feel, as if the King has just entered. Then at 1:43 when it pans outwards and shows (almost) the entire fellowship in the same shot and the music suddenly has an epic orchestral moment. Then Sam walks in, and the music quietens down and becomes a slightly lighter and slower version of Concerning Hobbits. This trilogy is nothing short of a masterpiece. Every single scene was crafted perfectly.

I think Frodo is just overwhelmed once again at the sight of an Elf. Also, his mouth clearly opens as he smiles at Legolas as if he’s about to say his name before it cuts to Aragorn. The editing probably just makes it look like he didn’t say Legolas’ name.

He was a good character, but wasn’t trustful with the ring, Frodo was on a mission to save middle earth by destroying the ring in the fires of Mount Doom, Boromir tried to take the ring but failed when the orcs intervened, Boromirs brother wanted the ring to be taken away to Gondor, it took him a while to finally be convinced that the ring was being taken over to be destroyed,

@@christopherrodmell1694 In the book, Faramir never wanted to use the Ring or bring it to Gondor. He wanted nothing to do with it. It shows that Denethor made a mistake. If he had sent Faramir to Rivendell instead, then the entire Fellowship would have remained true and Faramir wouldn't have died. Now you could complain that the film's portrayal was a big departure from the book, but if you watch the Extended Edition, it shows that the only reason Faramir tried bringing it to Gondor was because he thought it would make him father happy since he was always looked down on.

@@christopherrodmell1694 The point of the story is that no one is trustworthy with the ring. Virtue turns to ash before absolute power. The camaraderie of men, however, will save you and *maybe* save everyone. Boromir died defending the ring bearers - an early casualty does not mean a fault. Galadriel and Gandalf both refused to bear the ring entirely but they knew what Boromir didn't, and didn't share this sentiment with him. Dying on that quest doesn't make him any less a member of the fellowship. It's called... the fellowship. Not the ring bearers. Boromir's temptation steeled them all - it likely was what convinced Aragorn to not take the ring from Frodo - and Boromir's sacrifice after his failure, and him realizing he'd have to forsake his nationalistic views to protect the ring bearers, his shame, turned into their strength. Their willingness to trust Frodo and Sam, and take another path, splintered the group when it absolutely had to. Boromir's failure, then sacrifice, was absolutely paramount to the change in strategy. It's fellowship, not individual strength of will or character that matters. His character was respected and loved, and shouldn't be looked down on because of his failures but for his valuable place in the fellowship. Sean Bean being there would've been very appropriate.

The smile that broke out into an infectious laughter on Gandalf's face was so maddeningly emotional, I couldn't stop crying. Watching LOTR again as an adult 10 years later today made me realise that it is a story of hope. Frodo and his friends saved middle earth, Boromir found his honour again protecting the Ringbearer, Arragon became King of Gondor, Gandalf survived Sauron and Balrog. This masterpiece has beautifully captured no matter how small our efforts against many adversities in our lives, we will prevail. As Gandalf put it himself, it is not wether the ring has chosen us, it is what we do with the time that is given. Peace

it was beautiful to see the fellowship reunited, but to me, it meant more when sam came last and frodo and sam had that moment. Frodo was the ring bearer, but sam was the real mvp. frodo wouldnt have even made it halfway without sam. sam was only allowed to enter the undying lands because he was a ring bearer for a short time, but i think he shouldve been allowed regardless because he literally carried frodo to the goal.

Yes, Sam was allowed to Valinor because of the fact carried the ring, even briefly. But, Gimli was also granted passage the undying lands too, because he wished to see Galadriel again. He voyaged there with Legolas when his time came. So people can go even if they weren't ring bearers.

This is pure joy. This scene is done so well. My heart goes to Sam. The way he's looking at Frodo! They went through hell together. And now it's time to exhale and rest and live.

Sam was the one who always had his back. One thing I did like about this movie is that in the first two parts Sam is in the background, but he is the one who ultimately saves Frodo's life and Middle Earth. When things got very desperate we the audience got to see Sam's true character.

Can't watch the looks that Frodo and Sam give each other (holding so much meaning, after all that they had been thru together).... without tearing up, even ALL these years later....movies with HEART ❤️ r a definite rarity these days, unfortunately 😔😑😔😑😔😑.... During and after the battle of the Black Gate, every scene in ROTK makes me cry. Frodo struggling to climb to the basin of Mount Doom. *Cries* Frodo says "The ring is mine", while Aragorn is getting pummeled, and Legolas and Sam are both distraught. *Cries.* Frodo and Sam stranded on Mount Doom. *Cries.* I used to not cry during this scene, then I found out that Frodo just realized Gandalf is alive after his fall. *Cries.* "My friends! You bow to no one!" You get the idea. Then the Grey Havens = bawling my eyes out... Perhaps it was me being enthralled by Lord of the Rings since I saw the Fellowship of the Ring as a birthday gift when I turned four. When it comes to fictional settings, nothing else affects me like Middle Earth does.

Do you ever just think about how Gimli was feeling How his dad had all these tales of adventure (and I think he had wanted to go on the quest for Erebor very badly) and he got to have an even bigger one, and come out alive with all these new friends--even an elf! ...something even the dwarf king that he knew couldn't do. Gonna go cry in a corner bye

Man, when Sam walks in it quickly reminded Frodo the pain that they had endured together. That no one else in that room would truly understand what they had went through except for those two.
