Despite the great atmosphere Jackson still ruined it by not using normal horses for the Nazgul....

When I first watched this scene as a child, I hated Boromir. As an adult who's recently watched the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I realize the foolishness of youth. Boromir was a good man-- just tempted.

I really like this extended scene because it highlights Orlando Bloom's adequacy with Elvish pronunciation. Viggo is hands down the best in the film, in my opinion, but this scene just shows Orlando's pronunciation is quite smooth as well. He copped a lot of slack for the maybe 2 to 3 lines he said in Elvish, and this is just a nice scene where he can sound almost whimsical as well. The Hobbit also did him justice, but I find this small scene displays it well

Love how Gandalf and Pip share a poignant moment even when Pip was a gigantic pain in Gandalfs ass for most of ROTK 😆 ❤

Also that Battle Cry from Gandalf? POWERFUL. The first time I saw this on extended edition at home, my sister and I actually ended up yelling with him while my mother was like wtf? 😳 🤣

Gandalf continues to be my favorite character from LotR, but it is Galadriel who I always have marveled at in the films. Do you not notice that it is she who is glowing when they first appear, a callback to the light of Valinor being in her. Not only that, but I always find it so interesting of how she is able to read a person's mind and heart, which is what she does with every member of the Fellowship. Not to mention she is able to communicate with the person in their mind as well. Like I said, she is such a magnificent character. A near perfect mixture of beauty and terrible power, but one with purity, goodness, and wisdom.

Here in NZ a full day screening at the cinemas is going to take place. I never got the chance to experience this when it first hit the Cinemas. It is going to be an amazing experience. When I get asked who’s that? I’m going to say “that is one of the Mearas, unless my eyes are cheated by some spell.” When Gandalf introduces him I’ll make sure to give a head bow too.

“End? No, the journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path. One that we all must take. The grey rein curtains of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass… And then you see it. White shores and beyond. A far green country under a swift sunrise.”

Pippins face at 1:32 gets me all the time. Pippin, the ever-smiling troublemaker whos spirits never seemed dampened and always the one hopping on tables singing songs while proudly claiming “A Mug of Ale inside this Took!” with the biggest sneer among everyone. yet there he sits looking tired and lost and almost sad. it makes me realise just how relatable it is for most of us who has grown up and lost that part of us after all life has thrown us.
Wait, if they couldn't go back because the exit was now blocked, how did Gollum get through?

The fact that Boromir carries Merry and Pippin in his arms in this scene, practices swordplay with them and ultimately goes to his death to save them means that he has a bond with these two hobbits. Boromir protected them until his death. We do not observe Sam and Frodo forming such a strong bond with Aragorn.

This scene right here at 1:00 is what immediately shifts the whole tone of the rest of the movie from the happiness of the Shire, to the dread of impending doom.
