Lots of unnecessary Drama involved with this one. When driving a HGV the drama caused by parked cars and tight lanes is plentiful. HGV drivers will know exactly what drama I'm talking about.

Road salt isn’t for purposes of helping vehicles grip... road salt is used to lower the freezing temperature of water, therefore stopping ice forming so easily on the surface of the road. Some area use a combination of road salt and fine sand.. the sand is a help when traction is an issue.

Great vlog as always Scott, good to see the character building tight gap on leaving the first drop! Those farm roads are also so tight! Used to do a bus run in a double decker just on a Thursday on a country road with a steep hill and no passing places a double decker coming down the hill would wait for us going up hill, yes you guessed driver forgot it was Thursday and came down and met me! Oh dear I said! Blimey that was tight! 😂 keep up the good work and keep safe!

Snap one of the best things to happen for truckers,quick check in with no hassle and not having to fork out of own pocket. Intruck app useful too to find nearby truck stops and being able to see what spaces are available. You must scrap yourself going down those country lanes, once my trailer starts hitting overhead branches I am thinking "oh shit" not many trucks come down here

Yes, with respect to Blue Badge holders, they do it all of the time!!! They should be briefed before getting the blue badge. They park on corners of T junctions - they have a complete disregard for the outside world and therefore are a danger to all other road users!!

Great video Scott, yes glad we got some footage, that is some skill, and sheer screaching from me!! lol, and that was before you shown us the outside view with the camera. even if the red KA had parked on the kerb would have been tight there, but a lot more do-able. I think as far as the Glasgow run, then it would depend on delivery time, plus whatever time you got back from Dover, as I know you usually stop around Oxford/Reading area, then would mean very little chance of getting the miles into the Scotland run before you would have to take a night rest period. so I want to be positive, but my guess would be no to the Scotland run, but would depend on how desperate the place was for their delivery.

When I used to do multi drop(animal carcass delivery for a slaughter house) I place I delivered across the street was a cafe and ever day the same person with a blue badge would park on double yellows so I essentially had to block the road to get my delivery done. Even thought there was a car park right next to the cafe. When I said to shop I delivered to about it they said god knows what's wrong with them cuz they seem to walk up the steps to get to the cafe perfectly fine. I know not all disabilitys are visable but think some blue badge holders do it just to cause inconvenience.
@ScottAndrews
@ScottAndrews 4 жыл бұрын
The disability an individual is irrelevant, as the fact they were a Blue badge holder. This happens with everyone. When anyone causes disruption like that it becomes a problem. In my example here (Although this was before filming started) I couldn't turn cleanly down the street as there was a skip on my right, and the Car on double yellows on the left. Nine times out of 10 I need that space on the left anyway but more than ever that day. So as I couldn't clear that car without causing damage I was blocking both the street I came from (both directions) and the street I needed to turn down.

Absolutely unacceptable to expect HGVs to use farm and or country lanes. It would help if they made it clear they were one way only and another road running parallel was for vehicles going the opposite direction.. 1:07 Both those vehicles are horrendously parked.. The gap between the mini van bus thing and the kerb is ludicrous.. Red car could have parked half on kerb too. Even the roof rack is sticking out, having it large.. When this happened to me I put handbrake on, picked up the daily newspaper after blasting the horn a few times.. Hazards on too. Usually worked and if it didn't call police as a very last resort. I just mentioned police and they went past end of road @ 2:55.

Great to see you in Slaithwaite again. I still highly recommend Lock 22 cafe for a breakfast (maybe you've tried it since you drive past). The way you say Slaithwaite is about as accurate as someone from there trying to say Rhosllanerchrugog correctly ;) Old families from the village say "Slathwaite" but most say "Slawit" (if you feel Southern then think "Slough-it" - to rhyme with "plough it") Loving your videos as you're so often in places I know :)

With regards to the hills and brakes, if your wagon drops to say 3rd gear going up a hill then you should change down to 3rd gear before going down a hill of the same gradient and you will find the exhaust brakes will work better and brakes wont get so hot. Great video by the ways always love your content 👍
@ScottAndrews
@ScottAndrews 4 жыл бұрын
3rd gear would put me at 2mph. I hope I never come to that steep a hill haha But I see your Logic. I do keep the rpm high when using the exhaust brake but it's still not as good as other trucks. Especially compared to the DAF i used to have
@rogerquenault7207
@rogerquenault7207 4 жыл бұрын
Scott Andrews nice to have that many gears in 3rd my wagon will run from 12mph to 20 mph but it doesn’t mater what gear as long as its the same gear for up and down, I was taught this by my father and has served me well as I know my wagon spends far less time in the workshop than all my young co workers.

@@ScottAndrews we did a bathroom Distribution company in Milnsbridge near there too very similar street. It was a horrible right turn onto George street often causing gridlock in Milnsbridge centre as i waited for customers of the bank on the corner to shift their cars. It was 1 way too so after loading you had to head back to the village centre via Dowker street and Armitage Road which were terraced streets and often had to go knocking on doors to ask people to move their cars off the corner to get the trailer round.
