That 4955 was my old tractor I got it when I was five.They have done a fantastic job❤.That door was always a pain to shut 😂.

Last year, the EA removed 3 small weirs on a chalk stream river that runs through our farm.... its the first year our yard hasn't flooded!! 😊 and you can now see the chalk river bottom... brilliant!!

I’m 85% today had a good shift out with the district nurse team… Agree with you on dredging rivers…the victorians employed people to keep the ditches and rivers clear of mud and vegetation..😊

80% today. SG2 cab design was way ahead of its time and still looks good. All manmade drainage systems need maintenance as per their design and I mean dredging, vegetation maintenance, sluice and pump maintenance and embankment stabilisation. All of the forementioned have been woefully lacking under the EA/NRW stewardship.

Olly agree with you,Tom P +the ginger on the river,culverts etc ...the EA arw to busy filling in paperwork than actually clearing the waterways...get me annoyed as much as you as I can't fish as much as the rivers I use too! My late uncle would be going nuts about this.

I was always told the quicker you can move water the better it is , you are right Ollie we need more dredging and ditching done to move this water. I feel for all these people, industry and farmers who are now under water, they should make EA and those responsible to compensate them. James did steel the show , good to see him out with you . 90% Today.

Re random fuel tanks..... we had to replace several John Deere fuel tanks on the hire fleet at Select Plant because the pikies (robbing the DERV) didn't carry a ½inch drive ratchet (for the drain plug) so they just drilled the bottom of the plastic tank

How I agree with the other comments, ditches and streams are the lungs of a river . In the summer they expel the heavy summer rain storms into a low level river and in the winter work in the opposite direction, soaking up the excess water from the river. I live in South Oxfordshire near the Thames, that and the streams and ditches have not seen a chain saw or dredger bucket in years.

well done olly, ive been fighting the NRW about dredging, and the answer i was given was ... Dredging would not make any differance to the flooding problem, and thats from the Authority who looks after our enviroment, what a load of tosh, keep up the blogs, well worth watching

The dredging gets my back up so much. There are several rivers i used to fish that where amazing , now they are useless as they are full of silt and crap. Hardly any fish. If the river is full of silt and mud tge fish cant swim up to spawn so we get less fish in future. So nice seeing the boss with you today and would love to know how long it took getting him in the car, we all need more james in our lives 😊. Im 50% today

Ollie...spot on with your words on dredging....recently had words with our area on this with outdated sepa flood maps for a burn in our land... when I mentioned that we maintain and clear it they nearly had a fit.... but tried to block our planning for flood risk... we have looked after it for 50 years with no flooding ever....if we left it as they want in time it would break its banks.... the system is a disgrace

Well, I can explain the colder, dryer and feels warmer thing. Sat 6th Jan you had a significantly lower Relative Humidity (RH) than during the week, which means that the air conducts/convects substantially less heat away from your body.

Good bit on the dredging I agree totally. That 4955 looks familiar, checked through some old photos and can confirm that used to be on the farm I work at, spent a summer / autumn driving it, it was a lovely tractor to drive.

I counted the machinery from the google map satelite picture of the yard: 81 tractors,6 combines,3 sillage combines,9 combine headers,12 trailers of all sorts.

Olly it is as simple as this as I always say If you half fill a 3 Gallon Bucket with Mud it No Longer Holds 3 Gallons and that is part of the problem with the Rivers.

Another way to look at it the dredging issue is we need to clean out our gutters on houses due to them becoming full with moss, dirt, dust, bird waste, if the system does not flow it will not work, maintenance is key

Enjoyed the rant olly people really do want to open their eyes and look at the people that are suffering from the lack of maintenance of the waterways, you've only got to look at the farmer in Lincolnshire with the water surrounding his farm just because the river hasn't been maintained properly and he had the same problem in 2019,so he won't be producing more this year.

Fully agree about dredging, I'm sure there are areas of the rivers that do self clean and all that, however it's areas that can't that is the problem, I seen people claim it climate change and I just think what BS that is, I don't know but personally seeing how rivers used to be some 30-40 years ago and to what we have now is shocking also. Where is all the money being spent by the EA? I think it has to be office staff cause clearly nothing is going on the ground.

Never thought id see a 6930 on tracks! One of my favourite deeres the 6930, that and the 4755 you were showing in ireland the other week. Theres just something about the old 4 series deeres. Quiz question: loading ramp for getting forklifts etc into artic trailers without loading docks, company near me has one and looks like a giant see saw 😅

Like father like son. James is a chip off of block. You aren’t going to be able to keep him out of your tractors Olly. The only thing they think about is saving money by cutting back or privatising. I know that the weather is changing but I don’t remember so many places flooding so often. It’s about time they went back to doing something that worked, dredging! is part of the reason they don't want to dredge because they think it disturbs the wildlife........some people seem to think it would be better to drown and starve to death than disturb the wildlife........wildlife always finds a way to survive

You are right to have a rant about the waterways. From what i can see authorities are allowing people to needlessly suffer flooding that could well be prevented. It'd be quite different if their carpets were floating round the house..

I have a running battle with local farmer , as I have drainage ditch around three side of my property which are constantly blocked and then my garden floods as a result so can’t go on grass in winter as it’s 2” in water 🙄 so yes ditches ,streams and rivers need maintenance regularly 👍🏻

Oh no ya can’t dredge what about the newts 😮, I know a very posh place near Newcastle of floods every year as it’s forbidden to dredge for the newts , before we joined the Eu we had ship building and our rivers were dredged and no floods , now the solution is every new housing estate has a dry pond to capture flood water but kids around water is a bad idea take care love ya blogs buddy
