Hi, many recommend blowing air with vaccum or a leafblower into the endpipe and use soapwater too fond leakbubbles from the pressure ? Wont that hurt the engine ?

Water and a bit of dish soap. Shake it up, spray it on all welds and seams. Any bubbling is a leak.

Great info again, thanks, loved the mirror idea for checking. Would have liked to see the part removed and just where it was actually leaking. And if the leak was in the pipe after the cat, couldn't a replacement pipe be welded to the cat, vs. replacing what is usually a very expensive part, the cat? RichE San Diego, CA

Have you heard of hooking up shop-vac to exhaust pipe and blow air back and spray exhaust manifold with soppy water, wondering if that will blow debris back into the motor?

The main reason for fixing a exhaust leak would be the fumes going into the intake vents for heating and a/c when you turn the unit on, it will spell bad.

OR, Use a shop vac with the hose connected the exhaust side of the vacuum, put vac hose in tail pipe and tape it, block the other tail pipe, turn vacuum on to pressurize exhaust, spray exhaust with soapy water to find leaks. No burnt hands, no fumes inhaled.

Hello, when I put my hand to tail pipe on 2013 Hyundai Accent, I can feel that it blows cooler air in about every 3 seconds consistently and hot air other times. It happens when engine is warmed up. I can also feel rmp drop about 100 same time as well. Why would that be? Thank you for your videos.

I thought the danger in breathing exhaust gasses was from the carbon monoxide, not the carbon dioxide. Am I mistaken, again?

I have a Ford transit connect and when I first touch the brakes theres a clunk and you can feel it on the pedal when I am reversing and first brake going forward, cant see anything wrong and I double checked the new disc and pads install

Thanks. But the great majority of car owners don't have a lift to hoist the vehicle up to check it as you demonstrate it here. It might be more helpful if the video shows how to check the exhaust when the car is on the ground, possibly on the jack stand.

I keep seeing mechanic video who use a shop vac too to push the air up from the rear of the car. Is that safe?

Exhaust leaks will not normally show up when you read the OBD II. So a clean OBD scan actually means nothing.... Folks are becoming too confident in OBD readings. BTW, some leaks are hard to spot because their noise/ sound is buried within the noise of a running engine. Manifold leaks are best spotted by using ChrisFix's cold motor, back blown, soapy water spray technique. This is a COLD motor method -- the exact opposite of that shown here. The above technique is typical of professionals -- because the target car, with its hot engine, just drove in -- and the mechanic has a lift. For many, once a leak is spotted, having a professional fix it is the way to go. In many neighborhoods, a driveway repair -- even this simple -- is banned. This is the Mrs. Kravitz effect. See Bewitched for how Mrs. Kravitz operates. Heh.

I put new 02 sensors on and when I did I belive it caused a exsaust leak their is smoke coming out the y intake and my car has a bad acceleration I was trying to see if anyone has had any problems like that

The best way that I have found is to use a long plastic tubing put one end to ur ear and other end use it to find the leak !!! Use it just like doctor does to hear ur heart or lungs

My car seems to have this problem right now. It actually sounds like a lawn mower is running. I can smell fumes coming through to the inside, and it makes the same loud noise when it's idling or accelerating.

@0:40 (and elsewhere) - yes, carbon dioxide is expelled too - but what people need to worry about is the noxious & toxic carbon *mon* oxide, nitrogen oxides & soot _(source: Wikipedia under exhaust gas article)_

I tried 5 videos before you, mostly Porsche specialists, and not one had the solid common-sense information that your video did - I’ve seen this problem in a few cars over the years and OF COURSE the causality is an area in close proximity to the road, high speeds, weather, and debris.....who needs soapy water? Use your hand as a sensor- of course!
