I feel it's largely because the western record industry doesn't seem to be interested in women outside the pop music genre. So it can be a struggle. But looking around the world Japan in particular is producing some really great women fronted and all women bands. Of course the current landscap can also promote more nependent artists that are not subject to the whims of the fickle western music industry.

There are a plethora of Absolutely Amazing female rock singers, I could write a thousand page essay about all the ones I adore, from Cristina Scabbia to Stevie Nicks to Lacey Mosely and on and on, that’s why that straight white male comment was so freaking ridiculous, honestly idk what cis white male means lol, I know I should because it’s so often used but I’ve never bothered to ask but I reckon I’ll google it right now so I’m no longer out of the loop, who is your favorite female singer? What are these two talking about? I remember my ex wife at the time sending me Evanescence first album to me when I was in Iraq circa 2003 and fast forward when I was in Afghanistan when I downloaded Halestorm album in 2012 after seeing them on I think Kimmel or that other late night guy. All told I never felt some type of way about the ladies in rock. Female rock artist are easily among my favs and I never thought of them different as a huge heavy metal fan. I am older than both of these ladies maybe this current culture had compelled them to speak from what I see as victims perspective. Amy Lee Lzzy Hale neither of you are victims and I love your music so please end this woe is me talk. I guarantee 90% of your biggest fans are men. Let the music speak for itself. I have always gravitated to rock and metal because to me it doesn't care what color you are if you like chicks or dudes. Men have been wearing more makeup in metal than any other scene. I think Lyzzy hit on what I'm trying to say towards the end of the interview but you ladies can completely stand on your own merits. Oh well that's my 2 cent.

Gender and race baiters do this all the time they try to bait people against each other. That's when these conversations start we all know that men are more into Metal than women it doesn't mean that women are told not to take part. If they were then all those rockstar women wouldn't have been. Most men don't want to be nurses most women are nurses but everyday we dont here media say women in nursing are prejudice to male nurses stopping them from being male nurses because the statistics of men in nursing are small. It's almost like this is by design that they want women to hate all men. Marxism?

And all those male bands who never made it who never got record deals because they were not good they don't matter as that doesn't help the narrative that women are being oppressed. Maybe most of those female led bands are crap it's not because they are women same with the ten times more male metal bands that go the way of the dodo. Women don't really get along with each other in girl bands the same as men in bands but it's a little worse. Imagine touring with the same people for months on a stinking hot bus with the same people I mean it will test the strongest band relationships.

Look at Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplaine and back in the 90s bands like L7 and Hole. We need more women now that don’t care about labels and how they look or if they are popular. I know there’s chicks out there that are different but unfortunately not enough that seem to make it in the business nowadays. Let’s hope it’ll happen again!

Yeah whenever I see a little girl I scream "you're not gonna be a rock star" cos that sounds like something that happens in the real world. You're either talented or not if you want to build up girls to failure you go right ahead but not everyone is built for that life if anything these rock stars need to do courses on it which sounds funny but warnings and red flags need to be taught about the dangers that come with it. I hope Loudwire aren't going to always do gender baiting videos I think we should be helping young boys and girls in nurturing their talents in music and not focusing on one over the other and not saying,"Hey Lucy you wanna be a rock star?" "Yeah sure but I don't have any Musical talents whatsoever." "That doesn't matter. We'll Xfactor you." Oh no.

Women are in rock bands? Say it isn't so! 🤦🏻‍♀️ C'mon now, plenty of women came before Lzzy and Amy. Women in rock isn't some new trend. And I hear women on rock radio all of the time. Wtf are you on about? I like Lzzy and Amy but they sound like they're playing the victim. They're huge in music. Clearly they weren't held back by the patriarchy or some shit lol.

@lil drummer girlYep, same with Tatiana Shmailyuk and Lena Scissorhands. They know they're chicks but not running around making a big deal of it or claiming they've been held back in some way. I can't stand the identity politics overload 😑

Idk about this outlook you seem to have as I know plenty of guys who would go to a female show if they didn't sound good as long as they are hot lol...🤣🤣 If anything females have an advantage

There are only two obstacles to becoming a rock star: The fact that barely any rock/metal/handmade music gets played on mainstream radio and the fact that getting a foot in the door requires either very good connections or a lucky break. Gender has nothing to do with it. And while we're talking about gender and such: If "female fronted (metal) band" has become such a dirty term to describe a certain segment of music, then stop pushing the boobs and asses of your lady members as the most eye-catching sales argument. I'm looking at you, symphonic and goth metal bands.

There's a band called the Naked and Famous, indie, not metal. But one of their vocalists is a girl, and she doesn't sexulize herself and is really authentic. Band like Band-Maid or Babymetal or any gothic band do sexulize themselves, whether they want to or not. Babymetal using that skirt fetish tha'ts popular in japan.

Absolutely nobody is saying they can't,but if they suck, they suck but they don't want to hear that. I stopped listening to Amy Lee a few years ago when she started acting like a feminist and saying this stupid shit as if girls/women aren't allowed to do it.

You incel type men usually always lack self awareness and insult concepts that you selfishly will never want to understand about the other gender, and that's gonna bite you in the behind once women in general decide they don't want to have anything to do with you and other men like you. So once it happens to you, you'll only have yourself to blame.

Nothing to do with being female. People either resonate with your stuff or don't. Why do think radio STILL plays same stuff from decades ago? Cause we never get tired of "Paradise City" or "Nothing Else Matters"

I'm sick of this tired bs that girls can be Rockstars too. They have been for some time now. Kitty? Jinger? In This Moment? This topic is about 20 yrs in the past. It takes alot for anyone in Rock to get there. Most don't. That was one of the most moronic things I've heard from Amy and I'm a fan. Just pure nonsense.

Wow. Ladies, I think some of my brain cells just died listening through this. There were a lot of female rock and metal bands before, and there are even more in the present day. What in God's name are you two talking about? Don't answer, I know but let me tell, or much rather warn you, if you continue on with this bullshit identity politics, people might even stop caring about women in the metal scene completely, simply out of spite.

This video still making me angry. A LOT of bands including female bands don't "succeed" because honestly they're not that good. How many times you went to see a band you like, only have to sit through 4 other bands you never heard of? People don't even show up at the door opening time to see them, head to the bar or step outside to smoke and socialize >:(

Another example of this new trend of idiocracy. Women have been in rock music since the big bang. But all of a sudden this is an issue in 2021? The media milked this pseudo-feminism to death. Ruining cinema wasn't enough I guess.
