I've done a recipe like this once,but quartered the biscuits , rolled them out a bit in my hands, and added cheese, some were just cheese,some had cooked bacon,some had jarred jalapeño, and you didn't know which you were getting til you popped it in your mouth, so good!

I would put marinara sauce over the bread in the pan and top with cheese the last few minutes in oven to bake.

I would brush the top with a little butter before I baked it. And add just a tiny bit of sauce on the inside.

In West Virginia we refer to these as Pepperoni Rolls. It's like a big thing.

Now, it sounds strange, but I bet a teaspoon of marinara sauce in a small cube tray to freeze it up, and then it goes into the center of the cheese, and pepperoni would melt it and cook throughout while making sure it doesn't go crazy and squirt out the sauce while cooking the bread as well. either way, I'm down to just go the original way and put the sauce in a cup. lol
