The cause of AERD/Samter’s Triad is not well understood, although extensive research is underway to learn more. AERD is not a genetic or inherited disorder. People with AERD/Samter’s Triad often have high levels of cells called eosinophils in their blood and in their sinuses, which may lead to chronic inflammation of the airways. Learn more about this emerging topic with Dr. Tanya Laidlaw, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Had the flu a few times since I've had AERD. It shrunk the polyps for a few days. I also noticed that in my case of AERD, exercise could sometimes slightly open the nasal passages as long as the heart was beating at a rapid pace.

Will your overall symptoms get better if you don't remove polyps via surgery because of finance.... and just do the desensitization?

I’m confused. If I realized I was sensitive to Ibuprofen & quit taking all Ibuprofen or Aspirin several years ago but am now diagnosed with this... just curious why it’s still an issue if a person isn’t even taking Aspirin or Ibuprofen? I lost my smell several years ago & my asthma is now much worse... was diagnosed with this today, but still confused. Being sent for a CT because they think there is a polyp. Also, should we avoid the corn & soybean oils or corn & soybeans all together? Thank you so much for posting this! I wish there were more info on diet out there for this.

Did the CT scan or a visit to the ENT doctor show that you have nasal polyps? If it did I’ll share my experience with you and my 3 sinus surgeries to remove my polyps.

therock007dmx no I was put on prednisone for a week and I could smell everything in the world during that time. It was wonderful! Since being off of it my smell only flickers on now & then for a few minutes. :( Haven’t been for surgery yet. They are not even sure yet if I have a polyp. With all the COVID stuff I just put further visits off for now.

I know this is super late but, it's not that aspirin or ibuprofen cause the disease but that you react to it because of the disease. It's just a side-effect of the disease itself.

@@melissahall7009 Yes prednisone is good for getting smell back but very short term. Try Milk Thistle, Zinc, Vitamin C daily. These 3 changes made all the difference and I no longer have any symptoms and can now take 100mg Aspirin. Allergies (Asthma) come from the Liver because it is not detoxing 100% that is where Milk Thistle helps. Read up on all 3, what they do and their benefits. - Amazing (Dont just rely on one site, look at several including Dr Mercolas). Zinc is necessary for many things including the Lungs and it calms the mast cells. Vitamin C must have daily for good health. Nasal polyps for me was dairy, so I stopped consuming. (Can have some dairy now but only occasionally) Its more a deficiency (aging, stress all deplete body of certain necessary nutrients) so must add back what we need thru food or supplements vitamins & minerals. Balance diet for a good body pH.

High eosinophils, no smell of taste, NSAIDs will cause anaphylactic shock in me, blood pressure goes low heart rate goes high. 256 sitting. I’ve had 10 or sinus surgeries for the polyp’s and I’m over due to have it again. I was 24 now 42 and just learning what this is. I’m on no medications. Will a certain diet help?

I had this, diagnosed as eosinophilic esophagitis. Doctor put me on Fasenra and symptoms vanished, eosinophils dropped to near zero. Recommend exploring this with your doctor. I’ve had no recurrence of spasms
