this band is so special. congrats, that you have discovered them. you witnessed their musicianship, their sheer talent, stage performance and stage presence in the video. but what also makes them imho so special, is their ability to compose only good and interesting music. dark haired guitarist miyako is also a pianist on pro level, classical trained and their main composer (around 70% of their songs). founded 2016 starting with 2017 they have out four albums (the fifth will come out on february 22th), three EPs and four concert blu-rays with around fifty songs. and there is not a single bad or mediocre song. singer asami came from R&B and soul and had no contact to metal before joining. in 2018 they won metal hammers golden gods award for best newcomers and played wacken, also a UK tour with dragonforce. in march 2021 ( just when they were ready to start through) they played their last concert in tokyo, before covid shut them down. also bassplayer miho left in august an friendly terms. so they were on hiatus since then, some married. miyako had her baby. but: on 22th of december 2022 they released their new single "judgement day" with new bassplayer fami. and they are better than ever.they are perfectionists. these ladies are serious, about the sound too: the mixing and mastering of their albums and blu-rays was done by finnish legends mikko karmila and mika jussila at finvox/helsinki, who also worked for nightwish, stratovarius, children of bodem, amorphis and so on. and now to you, sir: a passionate, yet respectful reaction and appreciation combined with a very enjoyable and expertly analysis of the music. awesome! thank you very much, jon.

Best band on the planet. I only found them a couple of months ago, but I'm prepared to say that. If I have any criticism, its that their studio albums don't compare to these live recordings (not a bad thing - it just means they are even more insanely talented than should be possible), but there is something to be said that their studio recordings could be improved. Hard to even say that's a criticism. I subscribed. I don't want to miss any reactions. Thunder Vengeance (the opener, played just before this song in the set, and it is amazing), Set the World on Fire (the chorus and guitar solos are fire!), Swan Song (with the Chopin intro, and be stunned by Miyako), Frozen Serenade (Midori plays some acoustic), Break the Wall (the handoff from the one guitar solo to the other is beautiful), and that's just a place to start!

the studio version is more synth heavy whereas the live version is more guitar driven with the synth showing up as background in the breakdown. midori and miyako are the best tandem of guitarists to come along in quite a while and are both different in their styles of play. midori the blond is the crazy shredder and the dark haired miyako on the right is known as the golden touch. she has a bluesier style and her sweep picking and pinch harmonics are so good other guitarists look average. and she writes a lot of the music with the others picking up the rest of the songwriting. bestest most complete band to come along in decades

Their albums can feel a bit over-produced at times, they are mixed in Finland by the same guys that worked on the Nightwish albums. But Live they sound absolutely amazing, separated channels for the guitars, overall sounds more raw, more punch and less produced than the albums. Awesome review dude, this band is amazing, they play a variety of styles but are mainly known for this style, called power metal!! The fast double kicks and fast riffing guitars are a staple of the genre. With a few of the Japanese bands they tend to use compressed tracks on studio tracks for albums/MV, but for the live they don't use it. Hence why you lose a lot with the pre-recorded stuff. Band Maid are another band that do it as well. That's why a lot of people will point you at the live video's and not the pre-recorded MV's.

Dragon force wishes they were this good but no similarity at all, maybe Dream Theater in certain facets but not much, these ladies studied the older rock bands of the 70s through 80s and infused them all to create their own style and this is what makes them unique and very different from all the rest. Hey, I'm over from your Babymetal reactions. I'm happy you have found the magnificent Lovebites. Suuuch a good band. If you are going down the Japanese metal/rock drainpipe, then I also recommend checking out Band-Maid, Nemophila, Passcode ... the list goes on. To use a cricketing term; Japan bats very deep in fantastic female-led bands. If I am honest, Lovebites aren't my favorite Japanese female-led band, that honor probably goes to either Band-Maid or Babymetal, depending on my mood that day. However, all of the 'big three' occupy different spaces in the Japanese music scene, so you don't have to really choose a favorite, just sit back and enjoy the diversity that each of the performers bring. Everyone will have their favorite performers, which is perfectly understandable, because we all have our own musical tastes. That's fantastic. However, it is important that we don't let our personal favorite reduce the enjoyment we can get from the other bands. Jon, if you dive down this Japanese rabbit hole, then you will have many hours of content, editing and most importantly ... enjoyment, in front of you.

I don't necessarily agree with the comparison that their live version is better than their studio version. I don't think there's a lot of meaning in making such comparisons. That said, I have no problem giving the live version of LOVEBITES an excellent rating. Reason for high evaluation 1... In live performances, they try many challenging performances as a service to the audience in front of them. For example, playing faster than a studio recording, or offering a higher keyed up sound, etc. In many cases, this challenge has yielded good results. Reason for high evaluation 2... In the studio version, I feel that mixing is often done in such a way that the sound sources are concentrated in the center and the sound rushes in from the front of the listener. In the live version, I think the intention of the sound engineer is to spread each sound source widely to the left and right so that the listener can enjoy the realism of the live performance. As a result, the sound sources are separated appropriately, making it easier to hear each player's performance, and I think that will entertain the fans. Cool reaction. Holy War is a great song, it never fails to hype me up despite having heard it more than 100 times at this point, probably, and this performance is certainly spectacular to watch, but it is a relatively normal power metal song. Just at a very high level. Want something more progressive then maybe check out A Frozen Serenade from the same album. And there also exists a great live version for comparison.

I prefer the live version because they took out the strings and orchestra elements which are prevalent in the studio track. At least it was very low as a backing track if anything on the live. This live concert was professionally recorded and mixed since it was released as a DVD which is another reason it sounds so good.

The thing that bugs me the most about the Lovebites albums is the synth tracks. They really fucking annoy me. That is why the lady's live performances are prefered. I will miss Miho's influence. That laby wrote some of Lovebites thrashiest songs.

Feedback time. If you want to do this for just yourself, you can of course do whatever you want. If you want to do this for an audience and grow your channel, you've got to talk wayyy less and have fewer pauses, and above all no pauses in the middle of sung phrases or riffs or solos. Just my two cents. All in all, happy that you liked it. They're one of the best metal bands in the world.
