They are definitely fans of British Metal. They are a thrash/power metal band. They have toured with Dragonforce in the UK. As for the the outfits, they like the contrast with the usual metal outfits of denim and leather. Plus they say they are so small that they need to do it to be visible. The tallest is 5 ft 2 in and the shortest is 4 ft 9 in. The name comes from the Halestorm song "Love Bites (So DO I)". Asami , the Lovebites vocalist, has performed the song with Halestorm at Download festivals.

You just witnessed the rising stars of the heavy metal world. Lovebites - the 5 princesses from Japan who are here to save Heavy Metal from doom and gloom and bring back the 80s style of metal that everyone loves, playing it harder and faster. Iron Maiden on speed. Midori and Miyako, their two guitarists, are as good as anybody in the business. Haruna the drummer is a pocket sized nuclear reactor, and Asami the vocalist has a powerful voice and sings amazing in the upper register. They won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new metal band. That was three years ago and they are even better now.

In the year 2021, not 70-80 year old multimillionaires need our support, but new young artists like Lovebites, Band Maid, Nemophila, The Warning and many others who ensure the continued existence of Rock and Heavy Metal for the future. The youth of the world listen to Rap and mainstream party music. We don't have to save the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd or Metallica, we have to save the Rock N Roll ! If we don't succeed we will be the last generation to listen to this excellent handmade music ... I say this even though I love Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Metallica very much.

They don't moan, jump, or use dirty words, they wear elegant costumes, use transcendental techniques, and sing courage, dignity, hope for tomorrow, and more. LOVEBITES was formed by leader Miho (base) in 2016 and made a major debut in 2017. Prior to the pandemic, he was active primarily in Japan, the United Kingdom and the EU, participating in major metal festivals in several countries such as "WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018" (Germany). Costumes, Miho's leader has been determined on the basis of the feminine desire "I want to wear a white fancy dress". Also, since there are hundreds of female bands, it has something to do with the unique Japanese music environment that is not noticeable unless you do something different

The first time I heard Lovebites I couldn’t take it, the unrelenting pace was just too much for me, but after a few tries I came to absolutely love them, their skill as musicians is superb and the upbeat nature of the songs is refreshing. So I thought I had everything figured out and was enjoying the music until one day I put on “Burden of Time” and a little over half way through the song, Miyako casually wanders over to the keyboard and starts playing the keyboard and guitar at the same time!!! My mind was well and truly blown!!! These women are amazing!!

Congratulations on finding the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miho and Miyako have composed most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. and aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and at this point they’ve taken it to another level. This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. Miyako is also a professional-level classical concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude”. Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jaiYp9SYzr6pcWg.html; but if it is taken down, you can watch two clips back to back: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nqpyncyCrp_HqZc.html and kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q6ujeLp6uMmcgWQ.html I promise, it’s worth it. They are generally best live. You should next check out their most recently posted live clip, “Set the World on Fire” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b5-qpqtnzq3DZpc.html. Other live songs to check out are "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdJgYLhe3tGuc4k.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/or6Ykth-sp-Ymok.html. For a thrasher with heavy Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fZZiZMSBl8fTZo0.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9-eobt1y6vSno0.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) Finally, while it’s generally true their live clips are best, their MV’s are epic and worth seeing: "When Destinies Align" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nrJ2mM96npm6m4E.html "Glory to the World" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y916p6djvau8eGg.html "Winds of Transylvania" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ftl1Z7iTxLbOmGw.html. You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

Lovebites is a new and unique metal band. They are lighter side of metal. They don't ware black, tattoos, nor piercings, no skulls, no bloody guitars. They don't growl. They don't do crazy and bizarre performance. Most of their lyrics are positive and uplifting. They ware white and gold, and performing a two hour insanely intense show in high heels with heavy guitars carrying on small shoulders. Yes! I am very pleased that you did a reaction to Lovebites. Now you have heard two of my three favorite Japanese bands with hopefully Nemophila coming sometime soon. Something that I don't understand is that some try to make it a competition between Lovebites and Band-Maid. They are both great groups that play totally different styles of music. I was a teenager in the 70's when (gasp!) we could love many different bands. There were so many great ones back then and these Japanese bands are taking up the torch. Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila are not imitating those great bands of the 70s and early 80s, but they are damn well descended from them.

@@TheThamesmen Unfortunately the sniping has happened in the comments of other reactions. There are some that claim that Band-Maid is a no talent band which I think is lunacy. An argument can be made that Band-Maid is more hit and miss than Lovebites but that is because Kanami (possibly an actual musical genius) is a very experimental songwriter.

Great reaction! Yes their most obvious influence regarding their sound is New Wave of British Heavy Metal and Classic Heavy Metal but they do it with a modern twist. For me they're a band that bridges the old school sound of heavy metal to the modern era. They do a lot of metal sub genres from power metal, symphonic metal, prog. metal, thrash metal, speed metal, funk influenced metal/rock, hardrock to power ballads. They are very talented individually and as a whole / band. I can see the point of your comment about them being over-dressed & I understood what you meant. Those dresses are their uniforms or coat of arms as some people may say. They wear those at all of their shows & also btw all of them wears high heel shoes with those outfits as well. They are called "wolves in white dresses" ( 白いドレスを着たオオカミ / Shiroi doresu o kita ōkami ) in Japan by their fans (wolfpack) because their symbol ( or mascot 😊 ) is a wolf, similar to how Eddie is with Iron Maiden. All of their albums / EP's has a wolf on the cover. LOVEBITES is very great, they are awesome and I hope you do feature more of their work. They deserved to be known worldwide with the talent they have and with how hard working they are. Thank you for checking out their music & featuring them on your channel. Cheers gentlemen! 🐺🐺🐺🐺

No reliance on crazy stage antics and movement, no distortion, well composed technically difficult arrangements played flawlessly at an elite level. Their mascot is the wolf, the lone wolf. Metal with grace, and style.

This is the “standard” track that most new reactors seem to begin with. Trust us when we tell you that this is an average day at the office for Lovebites. Expect nothing less in anything you ever see by them, which is hopefully a lot more. You’ll get a lot of attention from the fan base. There are any number of “next tracks” to suggest. Mine would be “Edge of the World” from the same gig.

Since you have well over 500 likes, I suggest the next Lovebites song be Thunder Vengeance which opened the same concert as the Holy War video. The song was written by the bassist Miho who has been heavily influenced by Steve Harris but who is unfortunately leaving the band. As probably others have said, Miho formed the band after her old band, Destrose, fell apart. As an Iron Maiden fan, she knew they kind of band she wanted with two guitar leads and soaring vocals in English. She brought in the drummer Haruna, her old bandmate from Destrose, and Midori, the stage right guitarist. She then found the vocalist Asami through tryouts. Asami had spent some time in the United States and was experienced with singing in English. This was her first time singing this type of music however. Last to officially join was Miyako, the guitarist on stage right. Miyako plays the piano at a very high level and has written almost half of the Lovebites songs (the Lovebites catalog is closing in on 50). My personal opinion is that Miho wants to be like her idol Steve Harris - the primary songwriter of a great band. That wasn't going to happen in Lovebites because of Miyako and also the emergence of Asami and Midori as songwriters. Miho has written some very good songs, like Thunder Vengeance, so I don't blame her at all. The upside is that Miho will very likely form another fantastic Japanese metal band.

Sin duda es una banda de mujeres valientes y arriesgadas en su concepto pero su talento es indiscutible mi recomendación para la siguiente canción es Swang Song + Etitude Chopin Intro es una maravilla de composición y verán del por qué del piano en el escenario. Bit harsh to say "the vocalist's good, but she's not Floor Jansen". That's like saying "Harry Kane's good, but he's not Lionel Messi". People can still be excellent at something without drawing comparisons to someone who's even better, which kind of detracts from their own ability. Asami is perfect for this band in a way that maybe Floor wouldn't be, (although Floor can sing just about anything, to be fair). Still, it seems fair to say you've been bitten already, and you would be doing yourselves a favour to check out more of their songs, especially any live performances from 2019 onwards, as they're all excellent and they don't have any bad songs.

You can't compare Lovebites & Band Maids because Lovebites plays speed/ trash kind of Heavy Metal. Here the vocalist have to match and harmonise her vocal to louder and fast music(guiters) with thunderest drums beat. Band Maid plays more Rock Heavy Metal which focus on rhythm and riffs with hard banging drums, this allows the vocalist standout. If you ask me which one is better? then I say both are awasome.

Yeah Floor is great. I really like her vocals but the comment saying "I'd like to see Floor singing in Japanese" had me laughing 😊 English pronounciation is very hard if it isn't your native tongue. Much more harder if your native tongue is Japanese, the phrasing & sentence structure is night & day. Asami, like Floor is also a great vocalist/singer, such great vocal power with that tiny 4'11" body. She's also a very good lyricist as well since she writes most of the lyrics for LOVEBITES songs. Both of them are superb performers IMO. They're different beasts but both very very ferocious.

Asami danced ballet for 16 years from age 2, studied jazz dance 2 years in USA, learning English, returned to Japan and sang R&B/Soul cabaret and concert backup until joining her first Metal experience, LOVEBITES in 2016. She is 4'10" and slender and transcends PHYSICS to sing as she does. Compare her voice to 'substantially-built' 6 footer Floor Jansen? Why bother? And to 'compare' Asami's vocal on ONE LOVEBITES' song "It's in a pocket" to the 10+ songs you have heard by Nightwish? Until these kinda nonsensical 'reactions' from George I was enjoying your video as much as any in some weeks. Alex had it. Maybe you two 'play' it that way, one says dumb stuff and the other straightens him out (?) Just guessing, I'm new here. &:-) Thanks for watching LOVEBITES and showing them to your viewers and subscribers! Midori is blond guitar phenom on left, from pharmacy school to Musicians Institute and all women Metal, also plays piano and organ. Miyako is self-taught-guitarist/classically-trained-pianist on right that plays Chopin mid-show, as intro to her own composition, "Swan Song" inspired by Dvorak, as I recall. Founders are bassist Miho and 'little drummer' Haruna, former bandmates in all women "Destrose" (destroy + rose for an idea of their sound. Some vids on u2b). All write music, mostly Miyako & Miho; all write lyrics, mostly Asami & Miho. 50 originals. I agree with you George the vocalist doesn't have the same range as Floor, but she uses it perfectly with the song. It started fast and never slowed down it really was great. I am curious, do these bands get any of their inspiration from the 5, 6, 7, 8's that appeared in Kill Bill? The reason for the outfits is they are small women on a big, dark stage (Haruna, the drummer, is 4'9", and the rest are not much taller) and they want the crowd to see them

@@TheThamesmen Asami (vocals), Midori (guitars), Miho (ex-bassist) and Haruna (drums) do smile; sometimes it's hard to get them to stop - not that I want them to. Miyako (guitars, keyboards) does not smile much and opinions vary as to why; some say it is from here training as a concert pianist, some say it is just because she is concentrating, some say it is part of her stage persona. I don't know, but when she DOES smile, it knocks people down like she's using a superpower

Full of extremely talented musicians. Being aware of that during your potential video checking them out will prevent a lot of spam in the comments of that video.

Well, Japan have a really big number of great bands. Not now, from years but the problem you know... is that they sing in japanese, also the record labels in Japan don´t have until recent times any interest in promote their groups outside Japan. Japan have a really huge internal market. Also think that in Japan, music is a mandatory subject from elementary to high shool. Almost all the japanese learn to play at least one instrument (better o worse) in their lives, so talent have more opportunities to emerge. Is someone want to build a group they can find thousands of good musicians, just need to select the best ones and there´s really a lot. About dresses... well, as someone points, dress in white make them more visible and believe me, those woman are really small. The drummer Haruna stars to bang drums at the age of 13 years, Miyako one of the guitars learn classic piano from 4 years old, etc. But cute dresses and heavy metal are a new thing in Japan. Japanese women likes to look "cute" and some bands like Aldious also dress cute in their performances. Some of them think something like "I play a 5000 $ guitar, why i must look like a beggar?" Japan have great artists and bands in almost any genre you can imagine, but they don´t promote a lot their works outside Japan.

Snakebites - now that takes me back - and not in a good way! 😆 Just want to clear one thing up chaps - was this my one, as I recommended it along with many others? I'm not sure if you read my reply to your reply - I put forward one of 2 songs - this one and maybe Nightwish 'Noise' which will most probably be the opening number of their set?! I do have a suggestion for your next Lovebites number which is 'Swansong' from the same Zepp Divercity gig but it must include the Chopin piano part played by the dark haired guitarist who seriously plays at concert level, as you'll see if you choose to accept this mission! 😃 Sadly, I read that the bass player has left the band within the last 2 weeks - what is it about bass players?! I know you chaps are very much into diversity so I'll recommend just one more band that should be on your list if not already - 'Unleash the Archers' a Canadian outfit who also very technical, once again with a Female lead vocalist (Brittney Slayes) and the song I recommend is 'Awakening'. Yours Faithfully David A.K.A HT

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the way they dress. One thing about Japanese bands is they don’t adhere to what other cultures think. There was a music movement years ago in Japan called Visual Kei where male band members wore makeup and crazy hair styles. Most well known was Miyavi, an awesome guitarist. People don’t have to do things the way the West does. I love how feminine they look but can slay the music. I’m sick of big hairy, tattooed, long hair dirty looking metal musicians. These ladies look like super models and then they come out blasting their music. Instead of focusing on how they dress (which I don’t understand at all because why would it bother you since they’re so good?), why not just compliment them for their skills?

With your comment and question "Do you think they are overdressed?" says it all, a huge difference and contrast of who Lovebites is and what they are representing nowadays. No darkness and leather chains and tattoos, which is what everyone is so used to in metal. Now for Asami's vocals, she is way better than the operatic vocals of nightwish and epica and similar bands. I am not a fan of opera and metal mixed together it ruins it for me big time although they do have musical skills, I'd rather listen to Kpop. I really don't care who I piss off none of those bands are even close to the caliber and talent that Lovebites possess. This is your first song and you know for a fact that these ladies blew you away and guess what it only gets so much better with each song. 50+ songs and they are all epic and amazing as opposed to other bands that don't have it as Lovebites does. If you guys continue on the journey with Lovebites you will soon realize just how incredibly awesome they are simply phenomenal.

@@TheThamesmen Lol I did get it though but just giving you a heads up on why they prefer to dress very differently. Trust me when you begin to look at the lyrics you will see why their appearance is very evident with their new style of metal. Not dark metal but white metal, pure, angelic, and majestic. BTW Asami does sing all of the songs in English, her accent is very strong and the Japanese have issues with the letters
