What I find really ibteresting is that while, in the 1970s and 1980s, in the UK and USA metal was underground and rebellious music and most young metal musicians came from the street and learnt their skills as they gigged, it seems that it is middle class, classically trained university/music school educated sophisticated women who love playing metal for the love of the music but don't live the rock and roll life stlye - no drug or alcohol problems, no tattoos or piercings, no hotel rooms smashed up etc.

Band-Maid live and Lovebites live reaction in one day, your spoiling us. I just got into metal music in the last 6 months cause of the pandemic and boredom mostly, so silver linings I guess. I will never love metal more than than rock or hard rock, I don't think. But wow have I found some great bands in the last couple months in metal, a lot of it from Japan and these ladies are near the top of the list!

I just bought the DVD of this entire concert (Five of a Kind). They basically do what you just saw for over 2 hours straight. I was exhausted from just watching the entire thing. I also ordered their Daughters of the Dawn concert DVD. My three favorite bands right now are Lovebites, Bandmaid, and Wagakki Band. These Japanese bands are putting our popular music to shame right now. For solo singers, I tend to like some Korean singers, like Sohyang and Park Kiyoung. Rarely do I watch any American music these days.

If you want to see the full range of what they are capable of, including some truly amazing vocals, watch Edge of the World (live). It has everything from a soft piano ballad to the thrashiest of thrash metal all in one song, with a long bluesy solo in the middle by Miyako that has quickly become one of my favorites. Burden of time - live studio, Scream for me - live studio, really awesome songs. Break the wall, that's heavy. Edge of the world, is an epic song. Epilogue is such a beautiful song. Asami beautiful vocal, guitar solos that are emotional. Nemophila a great band also. Their song Raitei is a banger. Fighter is great.

Every song on this live is amazing. Different and amazing, from thrash to a prog metal song and a proper anthem, you've got it all. Five of a kind. React to the lives and you'll never cease to be amazed ;-)

The guitarists, Miyako and Midori, and the bass guitarist, Miho, are all doing the tapping parts all three times. The only thing that changes are who the camera is on. As far as what they're playing goes, Midori is playing an ESP E-II Horizon FR, Miyako is playing a Dean USA Icon, and Miho is playing an ESP bass guitar. I've never been able to figure out the model of her bass, but I think it's a custom that was made at ESP's guitar shop in Japan. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me!

As much as you enjoyed this track you should really check out the song just before this one that opened the show called Thunder Vengeance. It's more thrash metal, and one of my personal favorites. Another great pair to check out from this live show is the piano solo by Miyako followed by Swan Song. You won't be disappointed!

Did you see in the delicious outro when Miyako moved at the speed of sound from the top of the neck and down. And stopped at exactly the right position having full control of the fret? She do that a lot. I am not sure I ever have seen anyone doing that move so fast.

Lovebites ... Best band on the planet in my humble opinion.. Their songwriting, lyrics, skill set/technique, talent, riffs, runs, solos, dual guitars, triple guitar tapping, dual overhand tapping, drums, bass, and most likely the best unison band I have ever heard. They are so in-sync with each other it gets scary at times :) The only reason why they do not get that mantle of best band and so much popularity is that they play power/trash metal mostly with exception toe some ballads like Epilogue or Edge of World. That is why bands like Nemophila, Band-Maid, Nightwish, The Warning and dozens of others are more popular. Don't get me wrong, I love those bands and Nemophila is my second best band and I'll be watching their live stream again (4th time) with a slight nod over Band-Maid. Then come Scandal, BabyMetal and Aldious and a bunch of others, mostly from Japan. Many do not notice the small nuances both the bassist and drummer do to match the guitars, not to mention Asami singing. It is power metal ... and she can sing over all the things that are going on and there is a lot of it. Their stamina is also insane, they can go for two hours like this without breaking a sweat, including the 4'11 or 148-149cm tall drummer Haruna with all those cymbals and drum kits ... I don't even know how she can reach all of them and she uses them all, let alone play what she does.

"This is the heaviest riff I've ever heard them play before!" You're in for it. Next LoveBites reaction should be: Thunder Vengeance. That was their opening number, which was the song before this one, Holy War. After that: Hammer of Wrath, also from this show. Anthrax is jealous of this song. After that: Break The Wall. This song, along with Thunder Vengeance could fit on any Slayer album. Do It!
