They do move around depending on the song. Don't forget, these ladies play concert setlists 2-hours long in high heels. They won't be prancing around every song. Watch their "Raise Some Hell" LIVE performance and you'll see an example of how they move around, headbang and engage the crowd.

They just released their 2nd video from the new album, "Stand and Deliver". It's spectacular. IT was a blast listening to the whole album this morning along with the band on KZfaq. You should also check out "The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath", live from Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020. I'm 62 y.o., and Lovebites is the best band ever created. Metalhead since 1971 here. They wear white to be different than the metal scene. That's how they've been since the beginning. No gimmick whatsoever. And regarding stage presence, they have it and don't need to move all around. Who needs that crap - there's plenty of it out there. This is about musicianship first. Again, not a gimmick, not at all.

I think it also just depends on the song. In Set The World On Fire, they had to stay close to their microphones. In other songs, Midori is a lot more free to move and Midori is naturally one of the most charismatic guitarists in the world. Asami is usually much more active but she also wants her movement to match the mood of the song. Miyako is simply Miyako, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I am curious how Fami will be onstage. She won't be a full body headbanger like Miho but she seems to have limitless energy with her own natural charisma.

Miyako and Midori on lead guitars is what it might have sounded like if Kerry King from Slayer and Kirk Hammett from Metallica would have ever played on stage together back in their early days (mid-80's to mid-90's). I also like how Miyako and Midori use their contrasting styles of playing to push each other to greater heights, thereby creating an even greater sound for the band. Just my own personal opinion anyway.

They break all the norms, that is what I like about them.. So tired of the dark, jumping all over the stage norm.. Beautiuful, Classy, and Brutal.. This is Lovebites, they don't need to act like that, they are the cream of the crop, no one can touch them at the moment ... Great reaction Guys.. New album released today... The latest video released yesterday will blow your mind, they are not in white, but still as classy as hell.. Best wishes from France

Ladies in heels are on stage because they want to be feminine even though they play heavy metal. Also because they are all small in stature. Their height ranges from 4'9" (Haruna - drums) to 5'2" (Miyako - guitar). In addition, they also wear heels in everyday life. As for white dresses, on the big stage their figures in white dresses stand out better and are better visible to the audience, especially for those who are far from the stage. Again, this is due to their growth. Plus, ladies in white dresses look much prettier and more feminine. You probably didn't look closely enough. Midori (blonde, guitar) and Miho (bass) headbanged throughout the song .The LOVEBITES Concert Tour in 2021 took place under severe anti-COVID restrictions: : the hall was not completely filled (the number of viewers is limited, many people who wanted to get to the concert could not buy tickets) maintaining social distance between people, viewers must stay where they are, everyone is wearing masks, are not allowed to express their emotions loudly (shouting, sing ), only applause is allowed, etc. In addition, Miyako (brunette, Dean guitar), was 4-5 months pregnant. At concerts in the pre-COVID years (2017 - 2019), ladies move more on stage, although they are also in heels and in white.

Thanks for the awesome reaction! I agree with the comment about their image, it's more of a flex, because THEY CAN! As you have seen, Nemophila is more of the typical hair swinging, grunge look, although they do costumes as well. Like BandMaid's original premise (derived by Miku - Rhythm Guitar / Backup Vocals) was, let's dress up all cute then rip their faces off just for laughs. They look all cute in their maid costumes, but tell dirty jokes, and vote on who has the best boobs, backstage and party it up off stage. The girls in all these bands are all full of surprises. Many are married with children. The guitarist on the right is bad ass on stage, but very demure, but then she has several exotic pets, 2 of which are an Owl and a Python. Not as demure as she looks! The girls in all these bands are just freaking awesome! We love them all for all their unique personalities and talents.

Yes definitely 'Raise some hell', greats song and I just love the ending of it. And you get a bit more moving around on the stage as well, as they requested in this video. Don't really get why people complain about that part, there's probably tons of live performances where the band members are pretty static but they still love it, but with this band such details are brought up. Weird.

You folks haven't seen or heard enough of Lovebites. There were times they were all over the stage and having great time while shredding hard. And yes, they do bang their heads too. You just gotta see more of them. They have no peer and no bad song. They were in white and heels to show that they can rock hard and still be feminine. They also not afraid to show their faith with those inspiring, positive and uplifting lyrics. There are bands out there that can shred fast. Lovebites are fast, heavy with MELODIC.

Their relative lack of movement on stage (although, as others have said, there are songs where they move more) is not a gimmick, it's just them. They focus on precision a lot. They used to be more animated in their earlier years; I guess they became resolved to play their music flawlessly live, and the stage show suffered a bit as a result. I sometimes think they are the perfect studio band. Maybe they should indeed do away with the white dresses. Their latest video, out yesterday, is of a very fun song, "Stand And Deliver (Shoot 'em Down)", maybe the best they've ever done of their more light-hearted songs. The video was filmed in the studio, with them being in their normal casual clothes, no heels, and they're having a blast. The energy of that video really is infectious. If they could transport that to the stage, they'd be the perfect live band as well.
@oliphant2848

@Rebirth and Death Metal I have no hangups about sex appeal, but I don't think the dresses are about that. I never thought their garb changed their sex appeal much. Something can be said for both sides. Certainly they are making a statement (I take it to be: you can be ultra-feminine and play heavy metal). It's a very good statement, I can get behind that, it is empowering. On the other hand, they have been making that statement for seven years now, and when it starts to feel as a straitjacket, it ceases to be empowering. They're not less feminine in their casual clothes, and a statement that would be even more empowering IMO would be "We are feminine, and we don't give a shit about dressing up for image's sakes." Re a classical band, I think I'm noticing a tendency in the current album to leave the very classical stuff behind and modernize the sound. Most of the new songs are modern power metal, they appear to be in the process of shedding the Maiden influence. Of course it's up to them in the end how they represent, and we don't get a say, and that is as it should be.

The most amazing metal band right now. They're unreal. Regarding the dresses: Miho and Haruna on founding the band made the decision that they would show that metal doesn't have to be all about dark lyrics and black and leather, so that's why you see them in the opposite of that, white dresses and heels, singing positive lyrics. Definitely an identity choice. You'll see Miyako in flats in some videos, because she was 4 months pregnant at the time, and Haruna plays the drums in Sketchers. Don't know if that will change, but it has been more about message and identity, as well as flipping genre expectations in what is also mostly a male dominated genre (in the rest of the world at least). I recommend Thunder Vengeance or Break the Wall, both from Zepp next. They have another video out, but they're most entertaining live, so I can't wait until after the shows in March, which will no doubt be filmed, and we'll get some live material from the new album.

There are a couple of songs where they headbang and jump around the stage. Japan is pretty big on gimmicks, which I don't mind. So there are several really good bands that are a bit gimmicky. The initial idea behind the heels and dresses was the "gap". They look like they are ready for prom, but melt your face. They wanted to go opposite of black leather, chains, and spikes. Rumor has it that they chose white so they would stand out on stage more. They are all very tiny, even by Japanese standards. The drummer Haruna is only 4'9". She's a tiny little powerhouse. The blond guitarist, Midori is 4'11". I think The singer Asami is also around 4'11". The tallest members are the black haired guitarist Miyako and the new bassist Fami. They stand in at a whopping 5'2".

The white dresses are a genius visual component that makes them visually memorable, but if they were in sweatpants, I don't think it would dent their popularity. Nemophila have a much more casual style but also phenomenal musicianship. The fact Lovebites' outfits are so refined does create an interesting visual disconnect. For example, the riff from Raise Some Hell is so filthy it sounds like it's coming from someone who hasn't showered for a month, not from someone you could take to the opera.

What hit me most when I first heard this song was: cool intro, then Miyako's rhythm guitar amps up the promise before Haruna, Midori and Miho come crashing in on that promise at double the bar that they might otherwise have done, which just lands the song so powerfully.. whwat I find more amzing is that it's positioned about two thirds of the way through the album where it could quite easily have been perhaps the second song, and no one would've criticised them for letting it set the bar for the album. It's worth saying that this concert too is phenomenal. You mention in passing seeing them cover a Metallica song.. well as far as I know they haven't done that but if its a comparative matter then you might look to their cover of Judas Priest's PAINKILLER. To say it's respectable is an understatement. As you will doubtless discover Miyako is as fine a pianist as you're likely to find too!

I found them and LOVE them-THEY ARE A GREAT COMBO rock and metal that being said whenever I watch a live full concert video as great as they are I put somethiung else on after 4 songs in a row which I raely otherwise watch in sucession. The formula-great opening-into the heavy quick pounding and then solos and back are great-I WANT to see them but I would say they need to move around more-have Midori and Miyako {I think} stand together like Midori and Fami do sometimes-the movement between band members makes a difference. I didn't see that much speed metal in the 60's 70's but all the great groups-Zeppelin-Who-The Hendix experience and Band of Gypsys-Stones etc . all of which I saw enough times to be able to say this were great but there was a movement on stage where you also felt the music THROUGH the movement around each other and on the stage. Again-Im taking. nithing away from them-thats all Ive been listening to for thge last week-all the tiume. But anytime I pout a full concert on I turn it off after 4 songs no matter how heavy and great the music is. This is NOT the NY Philharmonic where they are SUPPOSED TO STAND OR SIT IN ONE PLACE. Before I get trashed here I want to say there is ALWAYS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT-THIS IS not NITPICKING-I have been telling EVERYONE about them and listening for 2 hours on end-Just want to see some movement-maybe even changing positions-one song to the other-Maybe I'm spoiled by the non formulaic hard rock of the 60's and 70's

The Japanese rabbit hole is VERY DEEP! When you want to sway away from "Metal", and I guarantee you will, because there is so much unique talent coming out of Japan, check out YOYOKA (mostly a drummer). More accomplishments than 95% of adult musicians. She made DrummerWorld's Top 500 Drummers OF ALL TIME at age 11, youngest ever. Has 8 endorsement deals, done many commercials and tons of TV appearances. Now 13 y.o, recently moved to U.S. to be able to "express herself" musically. Played on stage with Cyndi Lauper, Fallout Boys and others. "Burn - Deep Purple / Covered by Yoyoka Soma" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q86qi5yCx66Xmqc.html She has a couple hundred covers, original music, live performances, and has even been posting drum lessons since she was 8 y.o., not to mention advising local bands how to play songs better and judging drumming competitions.

There brand new video came out today and it's awesome. If you look at all of Japan's best female bands, they all have a certain attire. If you have been bitten by them, welcome to The Wolfpack. They do a cover of Judas Priest's Painkiller. Check that out.

Headbanging might look a bit odd in Frozen Serenade and Swan Song. Two masterpieces from them that are totally different from anything you've heard (including the new album).

The white dresses are to be different. What the Japanese call 'the gap' between your expectations and the reality. But an additional reason to wear white is just to be seen. Even for a band of Japanese ladies, Lovebites are short. Haruna 4'9", Asami 4'10", Midori 4'11", Miho 5'1", and Miyako at a towering 5'2". Fami is reported to be 5'2" also, but looks taller in all the videos I've seen.

Since you are asking for suggestions. Everyone will provide all the awesome standards, but here's one not many will suggest. "【Cover】Yngwie Malmsteen - Far Beyond The Sun (Violin Cover)" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e5iYjaerr9adgJc.html DO NOT be swayed by the title. This is hard rock with violin shredding incorporated. Awesome drums and guitar shredding as well. This vid has 2 MIL views. Jill (violinist), dressed like a Gothic Alice In Wonderland, has been playing violin since 3 y.o., and has been known to show up at meetings with drink in hand at 10 am. She's all cute and demure looking, but her fellow band members refer to her as a "Wild Child". Thanks again!

If you watch more of their lives you'll see headbanging, power stances and a lot of running around the stage. Especially from the blonde guitarist. The dark-haired one is busy composing new songs while she plays 😀 That's' a bit of a gimmick, I think, that one of them is showy while the other is composed and calm. Could be because she's schooled in classical music and you seldom see a Chopin recital with headbanging or running around. They say they wear white to be seen. The tallest is about 5'3 and the drummer is 4'9 so if they wore black they wouldn't be seen on stage. In this clip, the Dean guitarist - Miyako - was 4-months pregnant. If you watch their latest live, where this is taken from, you will see her move around a bit but she's usually stood by her pedal board and mic. The other one, Midori, is more of the "showy" figure, as is the old bassist. They have songs in many metal genres, like thrash and power metal but also a few songs that reminds me of old Judas Priest, more heavy rock-ish. It's hard to put them firmly in a single box since they mix and match a lot. What is there is a genuine influence of the best of 80s metal - Maiden, Priest, Metallica and so on. I hope to see you react to more of their catalogue, even though the new album is basically Lovebites 2.0. They were good before too...

Lovebites eschews stereotypes, as they neither look nor act like a 'metal band'. I don't even think of them as a metal band. Instead, for me, they are a superb band that plays metal.

Why is their dress sense an issue? I have watched bands live for 40 years and the general dress sense was denim and leather, black and blue with the odd change ie Kiss ( 70s) EZO (80s), glam rock (80s) . The fashion has become stereotyped and the Lovebites comes along and breaks that mould and it should be commended. Anyone who reads this and thinks they should wear what you want them on stage, catch yourselves on. If you said to your gf or wife you should wear this you have issues! 🙃 just enjoy the music and let the rest attend to itself 😎🤟

It was all fine until the guy down spoke up. They are Japanese, their culture is different. Don't expect them to be clowns jumping and screaming all over the stage like they are used to in America. Besides the heels, the vocalist wears a corset and one of the guitarists was 4 or 5 months pregnant, so cut the crap...

@@CDMS_pt With a few exceptions, such as BABYMETAL, which was born from a "fusion of idol and heavy metal" project on a variety show highlighting idol eggs, many Japanese bands such as LOVEBIES and BANDMAID are usually formed organically. Oh, and the drummers of both bands are good friends, so it would be sad for them if fans quarrel with each other.

I'm pretty sure the whole 'wear white, wear pretty dresses heels ad look feminine' is to surprise and amuse people and break stereotypes about how society has this very narrow-minded and ridiculous view of 'women can't play instruments and they definitely can't play/listen to metal AND look feminine'. That and they probably just like pretty clothing - no big deal. Stereotypes are boring - why should everyone have to follow them? There'd be no interesting people around if everyone was a stereotype.
