Since the Beatles toured Japan about fifty years ago, band activities have become popular in Japan, especially among young people. It continued without a break, and today there are over 100 female bands alone. In order to survive the tough competition for survival, it is necessary to have a personality that other bands do not have. Stage costumes are a relatively easy way to express your individuality. Refusing to give up their femininity, they chose to be lone wolves at odds with metal stereotypes.

Officially Haruna (drums) has 5 star symbols for her drum kit one for each member of the band and as for the dresses they serve as several purposes one because they are petite women and while playing in darker venues it’s easier to see them on stage and two “Image” many bands from Japan have several uniform like outfits that add to the bands overall appearance compared to just black shirts and jeans, and as for the band name as others have mentioned the Halestorm connection when Asami was auditioning for the band (under the then cover name Power Slaves) they performed the song love bite’s and so do I and they knew they (band) had their new vocalist and hence the band officially became LOVEBITES

Their costume does nothing to do with unrealized wedding, but it is a good point. Haruna the drummer was going to be married way before Lovebites when she was playing another band. She was going to retire for her marriage but didn't make it. Thereafter, she formed Lovebites with the bassist Miho. There wouldn't be Lovebites if she had got married. PS. An advise for your listener's better satisfaction. As you know you should avoid pausing during guitar solos. If you still have to do that, you'd better revers for five seconds when you resume the music.

They use to play “love bites and so do I” by halestorm. That’s where they got their name. The white dress they have said in interviews that they wanted to stand out amongst metal bands, and in another they wanted to be seen on stage. (They are mostly around 5’ tall)

People keep using their heels as an excuse for them not moving around much, but I feel that just isn't it, as they do have a couple songs where they show that they are completely capable of running around in them, and Asami (singer) clearly has no issues dancing around and climbing stairs in them. They just don't do it every song. From what I've seen, Asami does her best to focus on her technique while she's singing and saves most of her walking around and crowd engagement for when there is an instrumental break. I think Miho (bass) said it best when asked about metal in Japan versus the rest of the world, "I feel shredding and technical aspects are considered more important in Japan. Not much weight is put on things such as groove and stage performance. It's more about how fast and flashy you are with your instrument. I feel originality should be more important."

As someone said, they took their name from Halestorm"s song of the same name. There is a video of Asami joining Lzzy on stage to sing the song together and Lzzy explains this story about name while introducing Asami. They wear white because they wanted to be seen on stage as they are fairly petite individuals. Haruna has had as many as 3 or 4 stars that goes back to her days in the band Destrose.

Well I do like Asami, the singer is so elegance. Total different from other bands in this genre. BUT if You want to see Asami moving on stage, check out Raise some hell (live) I think there is a version with eng subs out there somewhere..

This is a Lovebites iconic song and it’s becoming a classic heavy metal tune. In an interview, Miho said that they wanted to be as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. Yes, some reactors kinda complain about members of the band not jumping or doing faces, but to me that’s irrelevant; these women are top-notch musicians. Some people say that they’re breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. Their concept is so refreshing and that’s one of the things that set them apart.

That F riff is fast AF! They wear white to defy typical heavy metal stereotype - dark clothing, tatoos, depressing lyrics, etc...most of their songs are uplifting. Next up Thunder Vengeance live 2020...show opener and an absolute banger!! That is how you open a show. 🐺🦊

Speed metal (not thrash metal) + pop melodies = power metal, and that is what this song is. Are you familiar with the genre? It's quite popular basically everywhere in the world, apparently with the exception of some North America. The dresses have nothing to do with weddings. It's just how they roll. Of the four members that remain (Miho, the bassist, left in 2021, auditions for a new bassist have just ended), at least three are married, two of them (Miyako and Asami) since last year, Haruna (the drummer) before Lovebites was formed, and I think no one except her closest circle knows anything about Midori's private life. The name Lovebites doesn't have anything to do with weddings either; they named themselves after the Halestorm song "Love Bites (And So Do I)".

Well, the name is from Halestorm's "Love Bites"; two of them are married with recent babies (you'll have to guess which two); one of them indeed was going to get married but it was called off--but I doubt that has anything to do with the outfits. Others have explained the various reasons for the look. Gotta admit, it works!

You should have watched the 2021 live version of this, the video is great but the live is smokin!! If you want to see her move, watch the lives... She is a stage general... Watch MDO or Hammer of wrath, or Break the wall... They wear white for the positive message in their songs, and they are all really small ladies.. 4.9 to 5.2 so if they were in black you wouldn't see them on stage.. Besides, it's a refreshing change to see beautiful women wearing white and heels playing metal..

She has plenty of movement, not just the standard metal musician stage movement and headbanging,shes a trained ballet dancer, shes graceful. But i get what you mean, thats why whoever replaces Miho should also bring her constant headbanging on stage. :D

Local Band Smokeout, your manifest appreciation of these ladies is definitely justified from their masterful display in control of time signature dynamics. which is more so evident from their live performances. Based on resume, this is a composers', accomplished musicians group, all of them with music theory training and literacy and ability to compose and arrange. The limits of this group is what they are able to write, what we see them do is the result.

You cut off my favorite part of the solo, Miyako right at the end 😔. Knowing you gave Band-Maid a 10, that's just a difference in the style of music you like I'm guessing. Instrumentally Lovebites just is better and more technical with speed than Band-Maid or any other band for that matter. Personally I just can't get into Band-Maid, because they simply don't play a style of music that's right up my alley. Lovebites does.

I don’t see where you’ve yet done Lovebites’ concert performance of Scream for Me. If you love their guitar solos, then you’re gonna lose it over Scream for Me, which incidentally might score that perfect 10 you’re hoping to see. In that live concert performance of Scream for Me, I counted 16 guitar exchanges between Midori and Miyako where the last minute and a half is a guitar battle the likes have rarely been seen before. Buckle your seat belt!
