Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna star in this major-league comedy from the team that brought you Big. Hanks stars as Jimmy Dugan, a washed-up ballplayer whose big league days are over. Hired to coach in the All-American Girls Baseball League of 1943, while the male pros are at war, Dugan finds himself drawn back into the game by the heart and heroics of his all-girl team. Jon Lovitz adds a scene-stealing cameo as the sarcastic scout who recruits Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis), the baseball dolly with a Babe Ruth swing. Teammates Madonna, Lori Petty and Rosie O'Donnell round out the roster, taking the team to the World Series. Based on the true story of the pioneering women who blazed the trail, on the fields and off, for generations of athletes.

This cast is so iconic, they really chose the best actors for the roles. Also, the actress playing older Dottie really looks uncannily like Geena Davis.

I love the movies like this because they used to be on TV so much that you could walk in and out of them. Especially if they were on HBO. You could sit down and watch 45 minutes of it in the morning and then pick it back up later in the day. I remember my Mom said I made her watch the Shawshank redemption like 6 times just because of her walking in and out of the den.

I have been ticked off for years that Dottie threw the game by dropping the ball BUT after 30+ years I just realized if Dottie hadn’t played… they would have lost anyway! OMG! The universe is full of truths! 🤯😂😂😂😂

She already screwed her team by missing the first six games. I don't think she dropped it on purpose. If she wanted to blow the game she would'nt have told Ellen Kit always goes for the high ones. Even if she hadn't of dropped there is no guarantee the peaches would have won because the game would have gone into extra innings.

This team was like ROCKY in the first film- they went the distance even if they didn’t win! Dottie while she was on the team - acted as a manager, did enough tricks to keep the media interested and the fans coming back, and gave the PEACHES a great on the edge of your seats game til the very last ball dropping second. They would have never gotten as far without her , they would never have played as as great without her, and they would FOR SURE lost without any hope of winning if she had not come back for that last game!

@@zt1053 she told about the high fast stuff so KIT would learn to listen to her coach. She dropped that ball so kit could feel like she finally BEAT her sister and lose that chip on her shoulder. It doesn’t matter that she dropped the ball and lost the Peaches the game because if Dottie had not returned for that last game they WERE going to lose by a mile. This way they played an amazing game til the last second… and then lost. 🙃

Let's be honest. If Dottie played the full series and they had Marla, the Peaches win this series easily. Tough to win when you lose your #3 and 4 hitters in the middle of your lineup.

Fun Fact: In a deleted scene Marla does come back but for some reason she's on Racine. She tells everyone she's pregnant then she ends up getting injured. I can see why they cut the scene because it wouldn't make sense that she'd be on Racine instead of Rockford. Oh, and don't forget they lost Betty too.
