This is a quick update that I made on New Year's Eve, 2023 and uploaded on New Year's Day 2024. I decided to let everyone see what I believe to be the path of the eastbound lane on the 58 project on lovers mountain in Patrick county Virginia. Please like and subscribe if you would please.
The bulldozers and dump trucks have really been busy the last few months and so have I. I wanted to have these videos made every month but November and December have just been to crazy to get everything in. I hope you enjoy this video.

We were just here back in March. I am familiar with the area, and had no idea they were doing this! They really stripped a lot of ground! We live in TN, but my parents are in Roanoke, about an hour away. Wow, i hope the trees grow back after they are done. Between the gas line and this, they are sure churning it up! I used to work for VDOT, will have to check the website out. This has historically been a pretty inaccessible part of VA, and now we know why!

From an engineering standpoint, this project is worthy of far more coverage than it’s gotten.. I so appreciate your efforts, but this should be a narrated documentary ..somewhere.

You are correct about the narration. Maybe one day a sponsorship will come along and provide some financial compensation for my time and we can work that into the budget. I personally would love to make these videos more in depth. Like you, I can envision getting closer access to the work sites and interviews with the engineers who designed the project .Hopefully our collective wish will be fulfilled before I make the next video.

@@hubbard1 I’ve been checking it out on Sunday’s, while work’s shut down. And, researching what I can online, there are several fairly detailed project schematics. But my questions remain ..like, are they building any bridges? I sure do appreciate your updates, though, and am glad someone’s documenting this project..

It's going to be much more straight than you think. I've looked at the plans on the VDOT website.

If you check my April 2023 update will give you an idea. I plan on doing a video from east to west soon to show that route from start to finish.

I grew up in WV and was down at Hawks Nest. I don’t recognize any of this. 🤷‍♀️. Just trees being cut down.

There needs to be an organization that makes sure the state replants native trees in the construction area when this is finished. It won't be the same, but at least we could make sure it will look nice again.
