Low Buck Honda CT70 Repairs

On the last episode, this 1971 Trail 70 was in the shop, the tear down had begun, but no real progress made on repairs. This time the transmission gets some rehab, along with other general maintenance. No factory fresh restoration here, just the basics to get this classic back in action!

That's soul crushing. My first dirtbike had the same gear problem when I was a kid. I just didnt use 1st. Funny video as always!!

Yep, they do that sometimes. Just when you think you got it figured out, it says "nope, not yet". At least it was a learning experience (and entertaining to watch). Maybe come back to it and try again in a year or ten.

I was hoping for a video where you ride in to the wilderness on that bike with only some essentials, a compass and some SPAM to do sort of a survivalist weekend! :)

I wonder if instead of the bedframe bracket, if a person has a tig welder and cleaned the aluminum really well, if it'd be possible to just weld the broken piece back into place

you know a neat trick i found out is you can use lapping compound to easse up a pair of chinesium pliers, but that aint gonna be usefull for you hey, nice Knipex dude! ;) (Y)

I say upgrade it to one of the Chinese replacement motors, 125 cc

I've got tens of dollars into the current engine, will likely try to fix it again.

Agreed. For minimal bucks you’ve got a 125cc that will rip 50+ mph. Once you’ve ridden with a bigger engine, it’s hard to keep the original 72cc.

Gear dogs probably need under cutting...along with welding up the business ends of the shift forks.

Haha, a polaris collector now has that box, had kept it for a while but wasn't gonna use it or would have broken it if i did.

You should ship that out to be copied. And then sell on eBay, because I had an engine just like that. I took mine apart, shifted it into 2 nd gear, left it like that, and it was good nuff for the kids.

Just a bit to small for you is all ! Lol. I’m not saying your fat I’m just saying you out grew it ! Brand new 110cc Lifan clone is around $150 shipped is all and parts aren’t to expensive for it all so ! I know your a cheapskate ( like me ) but up and running it’s worth $1,000 or more so you do the math ! Lol 😂
