Round 2 for this sled... Years back it was resurrected with plans to grass drag it, should be a decent for stock class with the factory twin pipes. But, things didn't pan out, and it refused to run, appeared to be ignition issues.
The project sat for years while I searched for motivation, finally found some this season and went back in for more frustration to try and get this thing running right! Ended up getting more in depth into the ignition side of things than I ever though possible...

Hit the coil you made for a second with 12v to energize the coil. Every coil I have rebuilt has needed to be energized to work.

I think this magnetizes it so it’ll ‘excite’ when current passes through it (not 100% sure). We do the same thing for the DC exciters for hydro electrical generation equipment after sitting a long time or a rebuild.

That is the textbook definition of dedication right there. Sometimes they just need to sit for a while; no crime in that. This is just a guess, but maybe overall ignition timing is too far advanced?

Well, back in the olden days of voltage regulators you had a arcing contact that regulated the voltage. Maybe dig out one of those and use the arcing regulator to make it run. My guess is that the cdi has something going on with it anyway. Lots of laughs were achieved in this video though! (and Steve says call me. Let's ride! ) lol

Good 🤞 luck on getting it to run again. And I'd also try cleaning out both of those carburetor's and jets inside of them to. Emotion tube main jets and needle jets for air fuel mixture screws to. Cause they could be clogged up or just dirty needing to be cleaned out really good inside is all. And replace the carburetor's diaphragms inside of both them to. That's where two carburetor rebuild kits come into play then.

If you open circuit a high tension coil while it's making voltage, I've been told that can damage the coil by having excess energy blow through turn to turn within the windings. Better off to ground the output to test for spark elimination.

Had the same experience on a scooter, would bog down when i wheelie’d and on bumps. There was no ground strap between engine and frame, so the kickstand sparked against the crank case.

Oh man, been there done that. This video triggered my ptsd. I rewound a pickup coil for a yamaha it250 years ago because I am cheap. I didnt use a drill because I kept snapping the wire so ended up doing it by hand. I would keep checking all the basics first such as testing continuity in the wires from the stator whilst wiggling them along their length. Are you actually getting good spark (widen the plug gap and make sure)? Are the ht leads good? Maybe test the timing.. Thanks for another entertaining video!! Best channel on youtube..

I'd test out the ohms.,or voltage that your pick up coil is supposed to be rated tolerance at on that snow sled on the Data sheets PDF diagrams and schematics for it. That is A starting point. I'd would try first to wire wheel off the rust on the top of it. Make sure to wipe it off with A clean rag and make sure the magnet surface is shiny silver looking again to. Then try to start it up again.

I had John deer spit fire did the same thing if you messed with the kill switch while it was running it would start running on both cylinders it was the cdi box on mine that ended up fixing it but I drove it for a long time just messing with the kill switch till it ran good not sure what it is with grounding it but seems to get it working again

i had a honda Odyssey that i scratched my head on trying to figure out what was wrong i found that often when 2 cycles sit mice love to build nest in the expansion chamber your engine acts exactly like it did a little exhaust came out but two strokes depend on flow to run pulled pipe off hooked it to a garden hose with a cv axle boot hose clamps turned hose on full and a little came out them boom the nest shot out shook it really good put pipe back on and ran like a champ yes mice can really squeeze into tiny holes and sometimes they are near babies that can really fit but often leave as they grow just because it looks like they cant get in they can and do build nest in pipes same with mud dabbers bees hook the pipes up or do the open port just watch your ears lol i noticed some fuel dripping from the pipe/manifold your engine probably cant "breathe"

You know what you have to do now, don't ya? You gotta (gently) take apart that CDI and have a look. lol My 440 Everest did this too, but it's points, so I know I have to adjust them at some point but damn I don't want to take that magneto off because I have to pull the engine out to at least lean it up to where I can get the puller tools in there. Sure it has slots so I can adjust the points with the magneto on, but I'm not 20 anymore and you just can't get in there to see the dang things.

Can't say you didn't try to get that one to run! I know there are places that will rewind coils like you did, but never heard of anybody trying it at home! Don't see why it wouldn't have worked, its just simple physics. Not sure why the number of turns/resistance has a effect - voltage produced maybe?

Maybe both CDIs are bad ? My brother had that issue with his Jag 3000 sputtering and not wanting to rev up, almost like a rev limiter, thankfully we had more CDIs to test out and 3 of them ended up being bad, the electronic components on that Suzuki are pretty much unique which is sad and i guess sourcing an other CDI is out of the question :(
