I used to take a blues driver style pedal to jams for distortion, which usually worked well. One time the 'spare' amp was a really dark sounding amp, and I couldn't get a sound I liked. Fortunately I had a Danelectro TOD pedal in the bag. Not the original, the V2 which as often sniffed at, but it got me back in the right tonal area, when the BD couldn't. I was using all the DIPS, so not transparent, but I had it on top of the amp with the controls facing me. All the controls a i/o are on the end plate, so it was easy to dial in the tone from the dual concentric tone controls and also the amount of boost & level. I haven't *needed* to use it since, but always have it in the bag JIC. I did have a problem trying to get a clean & dirty sound from a s/c guitar, into a single channel amp, or 2 channel shared eq amp. I solved that by using an OD pedal with enough eq to transform my preferred clean tone, OD bypassed direct into the amp, with my preferred OD sound. When I was trying to do it all direct into the amp, the clean sound was too muddy, or the OD to strident. It didn't seem to effect HBs & P90s, so I assume my preferred s/c clean sound is much brighter than my preferred OD sound, so the OD with eq can correct that. YMMV but worth a try, if your s/c clean & OD sounds into a single channel or shared eq amp are more compromised than you'd prefer.

That’s very interesting. I have used a Strat through a Tube Screamer into a Blues Jr for years. Not always entirely happy with the sound. I’ve recently experimented with an EH Screaming Bird which I modified using a kit bought online. (The Screaming Bird was completely useless beforehand) It appears to clean up well when I roll back the guitar volume and give an almost fuzz like character when turned up. I must look out for one of those pedals you’re using. I always find your videos really informative and entertaining.

Keep in mind 57/08 are not high output pups, they are pretty lowish.. But they sound great into high gain amps. Personally I have great expience with the 57/08' in high gain amps, like PRS archon 100 I dont have any low gain amps, since I find good high gains do classic rock well by just backing down the guitars volume.
