I thought the wireless was the tone secret, a secret that was solved with the SoloDallas Storm shaffer replica? I need custom pickups as well? Edit, I guess I should have watched the entire video before opening my mouth, thanks for the info! Edit 2, yep sounds spot on to me, if I went to a concert with a acdc tribute band and this was the tone of the guitar, I would be happy.

I bought one of these last week. It's absolutely amazing, I've played many different types of guitar and couldn't find a guitar that fit me. The closest I liked was a prs and I've had 2 custom 24 se. One hollow body one regular. Both of them I sold due to the frets not being level and one had a huge dent in after a week. It feels perfect in my hands which are I'd say slightly smaller than an average man with thin fingers. If you struggle finding a comfy guitar try this (13.78) radius. Thease have them and also Chapman guitars amongst lots of others. Just FYI mines made in Indonesia in paridise flame and has stainless frets.

You look to be getting excellent results. I think I can see that your hardener is model 0775/00: what is the model of your Sayerlack sealer? I think you said in the video that you use a 1:1 ratio: do you use any solvent, and if so which model and what ratio? Thanks!

Back in the day we used to rip apart Gibson 490 pickups and stick short A5 mags in them. That was the budget "T Top" replica.

I picked up one of these a couple of weeks ago and I’ve come to dearly love the 24 inch scale. It’s so much easier to play once you adapt to it.

It's Helix - but it's basically a pair of AC30's with chorus between them and a treble booster. Exactly what May would have used late 70's/early 80's.

@@TonyEdwardsGuitars me and my grandpa built My own electric guitar when I was 11 I'm 21 now I use a coin as a pick I find it easier to use and to solo I also use my own custom set of 8/38 flatwound strings me and my grandpa built my guitar using hand tools we cannot afford expensive machinery we had to do a lot of it by hand my grandpa has a degree in woodworking and electronics the knobs are from a 1940's radio I forgot to mention that they don't make this type of knobs on my guitar anymore also it's wrapped in leather howdy from North Carolina Oh yeah the pickup by the way the surface mounted completely flat so I didn't have to do any routing for the pickup also the body has a metal frame inside of it

Keep in mind 57/08 are not high output pups, they are pretty lowish.. But they sound great into high gain amps. Personally I have great expience with the 57/08' in high gain amps, like PRS archon 100 I dont have any low gain amps, since I find good high gains do classic rock well by just backing down the guitars volume.

Hi Tony. I have owned that exact guitar since 1991. I have owned Gibson Les Pauls and sold them on but have always kept the Columbus. It’s still my favourite guitar however I have never managed to play it as well as you!

There is a bloke in Australia named Bryan Williams that has absolutely nailed the Angus tone. In fact Angus used the same pups that were in God's double neck.

Low output pickups are the key to great guitar tone. There is ZERO need for super high output or active systems when today’s rock/metal amps have all the gain you could ever really need.

I’m having trouble with my bass So I’m playing it on a guitar amp 20watts and I notice when I hit a string more then once it cuts in and out. Does this have to do with my amplifier or bass ?

I used to take a blues driver style pedal to jams for distortion, which usually worked well. One time the 'spare' amp was a really dark sounding amp, and I couldn't get a sound I liked. Fortunately I had a Danelectro TOD pedal in the bag. Not the original, the V2 which as often sniffed at, but it got me back in the right tonal area, when the BD couldn't. I was using all the DIPS, so not transparent, but I had it on top of the amp with the controls facing me. All the controls a i/o are on the end plate, so it was easy to dial in the tone from the dual concentric tone controls and also the amount of boost & level. I haven't *needed* to use it since, but always have it in the bag JIC. I did have a problem trying to get a clean & dirty sound from a s/c guitar, into a single channel amp, or 2 channel shared eq amp. I solved that by using an OD pedal with enough eq to transform my preferred clean tone, OD bypassed direct into the amp, with my preferred OD sound. When I was trying to do it all direct into the amp, the clean sound was too muddy, or the OD to strident. It didn't seem to effect HBs & P90s, so I assume my preferred s/c clean sound is much brighter than my preferred OD sound, so the OD with eq can correct that. YMMV but worth a try, if your s/c clean & OD sounds into a single channel or shared eq amp are more compromised than you'd prefer.

The original T-Tops were unpotted as well. Today Gibson sells a remake of the T-Tops and calls them T Type.

you would think they would put roller saddles in this thing to better maintain tune as well as making them reversable for extended range for intonating problem guitars

Sounds amazing. A "hotter pickup" is probably just an easy sales pitch. I can't comment on 50s gear but on a modern amp raising the impedance is just going to drive the input circuitry harder and steal head room from the pre amp. And that's why Angus sounds so good. He controls the level of distortion by how he hits the strings, not by turning up the gain so it's always distorting.

I thought for most guitars, if you keep the amp. pedal or whatever plugged up to the guitar , the batt is draining whether if you have any switches clicked on or not, right?

Thanks; I ran into that in the 90's when I was refinishing guitars & couldn't get the correct yellow for Fenders. It was believed that Fullerplast filler was where the bright yellow in 60's Fenders came from.

I think they're Micheal Kelly pickups, I don't remember what they're called. He didn't mention it in the review, but you can coil split them for a brighter sound.

Thanks that was excellent, very impressive pups you made, and rewiring to early LP plan, a top idea. I'm waiting on a new AP2 PE350PG. and that is the reason why I was attracted to your video. Two questions, Tony , did you bother to play it when you bought it? Was it £180 because of the dog's breakfast in the pot cavity, causing issues?
@lordgraga
@lordgraga 8 ай бұрын
I have a CE-22 just like it. I like the Dragon II neck humbucker to be honest. For coil taps, I recommend doing what they do on modern PRS'es: Partial splits, so that the split is done by shorting the coil joins through a 2-4K resistor instead of going directly to ground. Evens out the level, makes the tone shit slightly less drastic, and tends to work better with most humbuckers.

Mine was made in Indonesia and the frets were actually pretty good. When I received it though the neck was bowed, and not forward but back. Fortunately the truss rod works in both directions so I was able to get it straightened out.
