At first glance it looks like a much larger aquarium/aquascape than it is. The rock formation it truly eye-catching. One of the best little scapes I've seen in a while. Kudos, Dave!

Hi Dave, this is Dorit from Germany. Great Aquascape! I'm very happy to know you didn't quit, and still hoing on with scaping. I think you are doing a great job. Your videos inspired me to begin a new hobby, I have a tank of 42 gallons that I rescaped yesterday and your tips mean a lot to me. Thank you so much!

Nice tank. Looks like fun shooting outside, can't beat the light. If you plan another outside shoot, bring a large black card to block reflection between the glass tank surface and your camera, it will help the "contrast" values in the video image. Keep up the good work.

Dave! I was in the process of setting up my tank and was planning to start off high tech and slowly transition into low tech like you mentioned in your high tech to low tech guide. When I went back to refer to the video again I couldn't find it along with many of your other videos 😭 Why did you get rid of them!? I used to go through them like a marathon of watching them back to back and learnt so much and picked up so many tips. Can you re-upload/remake them especially the high tech to low tech guide in regards to CO2. Would be much appreciated! Btw I really miss the Icelandic Scape, I would love to recreate it in my own tank some day. That was a truly amazing setup.

hey thanks again for watching! This tank was fun to design, but a lot of work to take care of. Constantly having to refill from evaporation. In the end I really didn't like how much maintenance it was. I may use the tank for a small vivarium and grow some bog plants in it.
@findoe8586

Ya i guess that would happen quick if you dont have some sort of cover, I was wondering when you use aqua soil looks like you dont cap it dose this help root growth ? Im trying baby tears and find it difficult to plant in a uncapped established tank.I see you plant before filling the tank, Any ideas on working with a full tank?
@ADUAquascaping
@ADUAquascaping 7 жыл бұрын
yeah you don't need to cap aquasoil. You just have to divide the baby tears into little clumps and either partially bury the edges, or tie them to wire mesh or even little pieces of sponge, and then push those into the substrate. It can be more annoying to plant than others.
@findoe8586

Greatly appreciated thanx One more thing have you ever used plain potting soil in any of your tanks?
@ADUAquascaping
@ADUAquascaping 7 жыл бұрын
fin doe I did in the past, but it is messy and hard to maintain. You could try it out, but replanting is really hard to do. Better to trim the plants at the base than actually uprooting them if you need to move things around. Look into making Mineralized Top Soil. Google it

What are you dosing? You're obviously not using CO2 but you're using liquid ferts?
@ADUAquascaping
@ADUAquascaping 7 жыл бұрын
I use some DIY fert solutions- KNO3, potassium bicarbonate, and then I dose small amounts of Aqua Vitro Seachem. I only use this because I won some in a contest. Just use dry fertilizers to save on money.

how do you like the canister?
@ADUAquascaping
@ADUAquascaping 7 жыл бұрын
Kenenth Perez A lot. Works really well for the money. I have owned two so far and both work well. One was louder so I put some tissue paper in between the motor and canister itself. I also jam both of them full of media and never rinse them. I wouldn't do this with a high tech, but with low tech it actually has a positive impact

will it kill the plants and moss? is there any special brand for aquascaping or i can use any glue?
@ADUAquascaping
@ADUAquascaping 7 жыл бұрын
Dio Diko it needs to be cyanoacrylate based glue. Super glue. The gel types work great. It can burn delicate mosses here and there, but us safe to use underwater. It is an acrylic compound and doesn't have plasticizers, so it is non toxic.

@ADUAquascaping

Moon Leah I forgot to press record. You will just have to pause it and study the placement. It is pretty simple.The angle of the Anchor stone is what matters not how the foundation rocks look, because you don't see that once the scape is put together. Still overly critical if you ask me.

yeah that isn't good. You can try using a mallet or sledge hammer to break it up into smaller pieces. That will also give you some more rubble, which will make the scape look more natural over all.
