Learn what the difference is between high and low-competition keywords, and how to narrow down your keyword search with Publisher Rocket.
When performing keyword research we always aim to find low-competition keywords so our books can break through the clutter and get seen by more eyeballs in the Amazon store.
But how exactly can you tell whether or not a keyword is low-competition or high competition?
While there are other factors to consider (such as how many 5-star reviews the competitors ranking for that keyword have), in general I know that a keyword is low-competition if it has a:
-High search volume
-Low number of search results in the Amazon store

This was another very helpful video! I have been using the KDP rocket software you demonstrated in this video after watching one of your previous videos (got it via your link) and I love it! Some people might not be looking for a camping journal but like the idea if they see it - in which case would it not be worth putting it with camping key words not necessarily saying journal? 🙏🏼

It is a bit more work now because Amazon has restricted the max reporting of # of Competitors to 1200. So almost every KW has the result of >1200 competitors. This could be any number above that so you will have to search each KW on the Amz site to get the true #.

Rachel, I recently purchased Publisher Rocket and ran the same keywords through it. Camping Journal received very different results for me than you received. At first that didn't make sense at all. Then I realized that there are many keyword results in Amazon that have almost nothing to do with the searched keyword. Many have recently said they don't trust Publisher Rocket's results as much as they once did. I actually wonder if they are now better, filtering out non relevant results. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Hi Rachel! How do you find keywords for the UK? It is my understanding that publisher rocket is based upon USA google searches. Thank you!

Hey Kerri! I use the manual way to find keywords in the UK store. I come up with a list of potential keywords and then see if they appear in the dropdown menu. I also look at the keywords other similar books are using in their titles. MerchantWords offers keywords for the UK store, but it's an extra fee so I don't bother.

I have 2 keywords the 1st: competition 80/search 4000/books 123(Publisher Rocket) and in KDP spay the 3 colours are green the Second: competition 60/serach1500/books 500 - and in KDP spay competition colour is yellow and others (Popularity- Potential) are green which one is the best of those keywords, Can you help me, Rachel?
