Just need to drop a comment about how amazing these videos are. Manuals are nice, but getting to see your techs do it first-hand is massively beneficial. All of your installation support (and awesome customer service) is why LROR is our go-to for Yota/Zuk parts. You guys are the best!

Watched the videos from the beginning to the end . Good presentation. My congratulations for your sequence of presentations and it will be benefited to the beginners especially the engineering students those who are undergoing Automoble Engineering in Engineering Colleges in the whole world. Though I am not a student of Automobile engineering , I have been waiting for this type of valuable contributions from YOU TUBE. I strongly recommend the Two Books ; Automobile Engineering Vol.1& 2 by Dr.Kirpal Singh. A lot of Thanks..... SAGAR, Punalur ,Kollam ,District, Kerala, India.

Permatex and most repair manuals state that if a thread locker or anti-sieze are used that the torque spec is to be lowered by 20% to prevent over-tightening. The threads are, in essence, lubed by these products and will go on much more easily, meaning that the wrench will click when 26 lb/ft of torque is reached, but that the bolt has been pulled against to a much higher number in actual clamping force. To get the actual clamping force of 26 lb/ft in such a case means you should have used 21 lb/ft of rotational force at the wrench head. You have over-torqued your rod nuts by five lb/ft of actual clamping force.

The numbers expressed on the Rod Bearing Clearance, both posted on the scren, shown in the video, and stated in the audio appear to all be different. Did I miss something? Great videos guys, i enjoy watching them as a novice Thank you!

Awesome job sir ! you know love ya style with the lube, its gotta help . You see many rebuilds with minimal lube if any, gotta give those moving a head start before the oil feeds around from pump. lube those parts, only the monkey skimps and of course eventual SCRAPING

How important are the various "o'clocks" on the ring gaps? I mean, as long as you assure they are all staggered from each other, they should be fine, right?
@lowrangeoffroad1
@lowrangeoffroad1 9 жыл бұрын
moaski There are two schools of thought about ring end gap spacing. One is that it does not matter because rings tend to migrate during the break in process and will settle most anywhere. The other is they stay pretty much where they are placed. I believe your best odds for success is to place them according to what the manufacturer recommends. If rings do migrate, and I believe they do a little, they are less likely to align with each other. Hope this helps.

superb videos. I am planing to rebuild a 4 cyl engine myself and your videos are a good source of infos. Though i have a question. It seems that this engine has wet liners (correct me if i'm wrong). If so, who did the instalation of liners in the block. Was it you or the machine shop. Thanks in advance and again thanks for the upload
@lowrangeoffroad1
@lowrangeoffroad1 7 жыл бұрын
Sorry so slow in responding. Been out on vacation. Though these engines look like wet liners they are not. Thanks for watching and commenting. But, since you asked, we have all our machine work done by Cleggs Automotive Machine Shop in Orem, Utah, USA do all our machine work. They have do outstanding work.

Is the orientation of the piston rings similar to all engines or may vary depending on the manufacturer's proper specs?
@lowrangeoffroad1
@lowrangeoffroad1 7 жыл бұрын
Piston ring end gap orientation is basically the same on all engines. However, it is always better to follow the manufacturer specifications. And sometimes the ring manufacturer will supply instructions with the new rings. These are accurate as well.

What is the function of the stickers or plasti gages
@lowrangeoffroad1
@lowrangeoffroad1 8 жыл бұрын
+andy viveen The clearance between the rod bearing and the crankshaft (sometimes refereed to as Oil Clearance) is critical to the life of the engine. Plasti-gauge is used to measure this clearance. If this clearance is not correct there are a number of reasons the most common being a machining error or the wrong size rod bearings. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching and commenting.

+Ricky Nunnery I agree with you. William is a bit paranoid about it because we ship all over the world and we don't know how long it will be before the engine actually gets installed and started. Plus, many of our customers are of the "Do it Yourself" group and they don't have any way to do a legitimate pre-lube procedure before start up. But, having said all that. Thanks for your concern. We concur!
