I originally thought about giving away the extra seals to subscribers for free, but after the review I didn't think anyone would want them 😂 Maybe i'll just hold onto them and revisit in 3 years...

I had the Britpart but went back to the genuine. The Britpart sealed fine as I drove through flooded roads with the water almost reaching the top of the front fenders at times. And. not just a simple 20 meter crossing. This was a good 600 meters. But because the rubber is quite stiff you have to close the door with some decent force. I had the genuine seal on the passenger side still so I had a good comparison. The door just closes easier. No slamming. I think it is the usual story. Some things third party parts are fine, some other things stick with genuine. Buy it nice or buy it twice.

Fitted the Bearmach version on my 90, happy with the fit and manufacture. But the main aperture seal I HAD to go genuine as nothing else gives a decent sealing and door shut.

Good video, how about comparing multi-leaf springs(not parabolics)for series vehicles-hard to get decent springs a few years ago,not sure what the quality is like now

Great review/comparison, thanks! According to my check you can buy nearly four BM seals for the price of 1 Gen LR, BP is only about £1 0r 10% cheaper than BM so for my money on an older vehicle BM gets my vote. If Gen LR was double the price I would buy it without a second thought but it's nearly 4x and could almost buy a set of 4BM seals for same price. Running an older vehicle it is always difficult to know when buying parts if it's worth paying extra for non critical unbranded parts which may even turn out to be from the same factory, however some items I will not compromise or take a chance on.

I would go for genuine. Keeps water out: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gsqKer2GuNqrdYE.html :-)

Thanks Peter. The prices vary a bit. I had to buy the Bearmach part on ebay so with postage it came to circa £13, but the Britpart one as part of another order was £9. I think the Bearmach is a good value compromise, but it's incredible how much worse the Britpart one is for just a pound or so. A rule of thumb tends to be "if it turns, seals or is safety critical, buy genuine"

I have the older doors, but I still watched which seal was best for a door I don’t have. Land Rover, it’s a disease

Hi Al. Not easily I suspect. The earlier doors are square so you'd have to stretch the seal at the corners

Britpart don't exist as far as I'm concerned. I renovated a S3 15 years ago using Britpart and it was the worst aftermarket supplier I've ever encountered in my life, horrific. Brake adjusters made of cheese, brake cylinders that leaked from new, seals that leaked, parts that didn't fit. I realise some people can't afford better parts. My counter to that is that you really can't afford to own and run a Land Rover.
